Thanks for all the Fantom G uploads. They've helped me come a long way Ed! I bought a crispy used Roland G8 last year. I hardly touch any of my other gear as of now. I sampled tons of my other out board gear into my G8 by sampling all of the C, F & G# notes up & down the key scale for about 10secs each. Granite this was tedious & took lots of hours! BUT I'm an outboard gear nut & i love & enjoy taking the time to do this so i pretty much i have all of the best sound from my other modules & gear sampled, saved & mapped across the G8s keyboard. I've also done the same over the years with Recycle & Reason too. The stock instruments on the G8 are pretty stellar & crisp but not mind blowing. I have a gig of extra memory installed in it & i have tons of extra synths & sounds i sampled from NI Massive, EastWest Goliath & Symphonic Orch Gold & more... endless old skool hiphop break beats I've made into drum kits mapped out on the drum pads too. This was by far the best piece of gear I've bought in years! There is one HELL of a learning curve tho i have to warn. Definitely not for novice individuals new to any type of workstation thats for sure!
Hi Ed Your videos is very helpgul and clear. Better than most videos on youtube concerning the FG. I have one question though. How do I move songs through projects? I lost so many songs already cause I tried to drag them like midi files , but paid the price. Lol. Can you make a video with that please. Thanks
Wow this is awesome. You were very helpful in this video. Do you mind if I ask a couple of questions on how to use this machine in the future. I have one but i don't understand how to use many of the features. I'd really appreciate it.
Hi Ed Me again. I still didn't get it right to switch songs between projects. Is there any way other than saving it as a SMF? Also sometimes when I save as SMF then I get a "Copyright Protect" message. What is that all about?
Hello, is the Roland G8 a good deal in 2020 because I am looking for recording audio and midi together on One machine without using the computer... And I would like to have very expressives sounds. Thank you
TMS·BRANDA / André Dumas j’en ai acheté un entre temps! J’adore. J’ai acquis une barrette 512 Mb de ram et je trouve que la qualité des enregistrements audio est très bonne contrairement à ce que certains disent. Binsique
ED HELP!!! I SWITCHED THIS THING TO RECORD IN REAL TIME AND CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO SWITCH IT BACK. You are prob the only chance i have of maybe getting a response from soone who may know, PLEASE HELP. Thanks
Why do sample sound different when imported into the Fantom G. The sample sounds great on my PC but when imported it either gets boosted and sounds a little distorted and yes ive removed the +12db setting but the high end still sounds different or the sample lacks the original high sheen quality it has on my pc. And this is played down usb audio line through the fantom g so no other speakers tainting it. Even when i make a midi mockup and resample to bounce down the sound is changed in the bounced wav. Hard to pin point but it sounds like the harmonics have change very slightly and ive tried normalizing to bring it up because i know the volume drops but thats not it. Any experienced people here on this um basic sampling page :/.
I've been sampling* with my Fantom and I haven't heard any horrible differences in audio recorded into the Fantom compared to where I'm getting it from.
