Sbc driver side cylinders are 1357 passenfer side is 2468. The firing order does not go down the line of each bank. You can buy a timing tab that bolts on using the tining cover bolts.
What kinda car/truck are you swapping……c10’s are the easiest, ive done a handful already on the cheap and my nova was pretty straight forward as well…..any GM vehicle that offered a V-8 from the factory are usually very very simple…..oil pans and headers are probably the biggest concerns

I’m wanting to swap but my 403 still runs like a sewing machine. Let me know how I can get ahold of you and we can go from there.
Those old buick v-8’s are getting very hard to find and when you do find them they are almost always wayyyy overpriced and still need to be opened up and rebuilt!!! Before the LS craze i did the same thing to my car, after 3) buick 350’s took a shit on me i put in an aluminum headed built sbc 355…..not even a year later i put a cammed 4.8 in its place and within a year of that i put a built 370” LQ9 in there and then not even a year after that i added a LSA supercharger…….now im building a 408” stroker for the LSA supercharged buick apollo….(nova clone)……after thats said and done i plan on doin a tkx 5spd conversion!!!! Mo money mo money mo money……it never ends…..that 4.8 went into my c10 with a vortech v-3sci supercharger and a 3000 stalled th350 b.o.p transmission!!!!….holds up just fine….when the 408 is done the 370 will go where the 4.8 lives and the 4.8 will get the crank out of a 5.3 and some gen4 rods and flat tops…..maybe even a bore out to 3.899 to make it an iron LS1…..we shall see

Don't ever be scared of flat tappet cams. I've built many sbc and never had an issue. That being said, ROLLER CAMS RULE!!!

I got rid of my bbc engine and spare parts to do a LS swap after watching your videos bought a 5.3 on the cheap "$80" but I have a long way to go
