    Really interesting video. Nice to see 22 performing so well. Sick of hearing 1.77 is the best all the time. They are just different equally as good in there own way.
    And as preciously commented quality time with grandad is special

    just goes to show really, all these people who argue about 177 vs 22, in this instant, i think overall the .22 smashed it at this range/wind. If you had zero wind/your into your indoor range the .177 is the way to go, but as an all rounder, I think the .22 is the way to go

    I love 1.77 for the flatter trajectory and the speed

  • @Crottedenez1000
    @Crottedenez1000 5 років тому +3

    It’s commonly known that for the same lbft, the 0.177 has a flatter trajectory while the 0.22 has more knockdown power (at a certain distance)...
    The thing I’m interested in (and never found an answer on the net) is : how much lbft does a 0.22 need to equalize the trajectory of a 0.177 with, let’s say for an example, 12 lbft ? This might be an interesting challenge to be calculated by the one of you guys who knows how to calculate this ! Thanks a lot for your answer and heartily cheers from Switzerland :-) (sorry for my bad English !)
    (I’m hesitating between a 0.177 with 18 lbft and a 0.22 with 40 lbft...)

    • @rattytattyratnett
      @rattytattyratnett 5 років тому +1

      Trajectory is primarily determined by the speed of the projectile. So a a 0.177 and 0.22 will follow the same trajectory at the same speed. However, there will be some difference due to ballistic coefficient of the pellets.

    Hello mate, I know this video is a few years old now, but have you ever tried using different pellets? I have a BSA R10 SE in .177 and used a few tins of AA Diablo Field. I thought they were pretty decent until I did a pellet test using 20 different pellets. My gun shoots so much better with H&N FTT or H&N Baracuda Match pellets. Both types are putting pellet on pellet with groups of 10 shots less than 5p in size at 30-40 yards. Each gun is different but they put the AA pellets to shame!

    Nice video, not conclusive though for the obvious reasons...
    This air gunning thing nowadays has just so much offer! It's very personal on which is your favorite caliber, air rifle, pellets, scopes, etc...
    I say use whatever you feel most comfortable with. The lovely thing about the 1.77 caliber is the trajectory! My personal favorite for years now has been the 1.77 caliber. I have used it for very small, to small, to medium small game hunting, and of course for target. With the right kit, one can get kill shots at very, very long distances!!

    I did ballistic myself the .22 won almost all the tests including penetration! No doubt is better against the wind 💨 it’s physics more muzzle energy equals more power obviously down range to . The .177 looses to much energy down range and the .22 has more knockdown power and does more internal damage . So to me the 177 is more for plinking and vermin control the 22 is more for hunting .

    • @CHOPERUS23
      @CHOPERUS23 5 років тому +1

      Isn't vermin control the same as hunting 😏. At 12 ft/lb a .177 pellet is still travelling faster at 50 yards than a .22 at the muzzle. These two are either rubbish shooters, not cleaned the barrel or haven't done the required pellet testing to see what that particular barrel likes.

    I’m not trying to be a dick but it’s .177 not 1.77, I know you know that… Really, loved the video and am now subscribed.
    I love my .177 for shooting pigeons inside a barn with no wind to deal with. And they will work outside as long as there isn’t any wind, I’ve killed rabbits at over 60 yards (lasered). I don’t have a 22 cal pellet rifle, yet… Someday I’ll get a 22 cal barrel for my Impact just to shoot slugs.

    I use my .177 with the open end Bullet nose pellet! At 30 yards I can kill a fox ,which I've done with out a Scope ! Free hand and not a Bridge and Support like you show!! What a Joke ...Semper Fi !!!

    Nice match, but i love the .22 mate. For the amount of wind that's there .22 has the upper.

      +Airguns HD Sadly I have had no opportunity to air gun these past two years reason being that i had to move to NYC to finish up on my degree as a social worker and as you may already know New York treats "ALL" airguns as firearms and thus are illegal here in this police state. Most of my air gun practice is done at my land in Puerto Rico where such strict laws are none existent. Upon my completion I will be moving to Florida where I can purchase my new airguns and hopefully meet up with others and possibly join a club if I am accepted. I am leaning towards an FX Gladiator in .22, an FX Verminator in .177 and a nice Air Arms or Daystate for field target. What do you guys think? By the way where are you from England?

    • @airgunshd3365
      @airgunshd3365  8 років тому +1

      +Miguel Diaz yeah we are both from England and them air guns you mentioned are all really good I've heard great things about the fx wildcat you might want to have a look at that also, we are going to America for a shooting holiday soon to shoot some real guns
