I mean, he gets home cooked meals and desserts, better than what any of us can probably make, for probably almost, if not all of his off camera meals. Honestly, some of the terrible things we've seen her feed him, are things I wouldn't put past my grandmother doing worse of and expecting folks to eat it (seriously, how do you burn hot dogs when you are boiling them?!).
The skittle popcorn hack was everywhere on TikTok in the summer of 2020. A lot of UA-camrs tried it, and all they got out of it was loud beeping of a fire alarm.

the strawberrys that have insects or slugs on it, are the best, because also animals are picky if there is so many food at one place that they can choose. and they can smell even better than we. they know exactly, which strawberry (or other friut and vegetable) tastes the best

The noodles reminded me of Tasting History with Max Miller's video Japan & the Portuguese Barbarians. It uses just egg yolks but you strain them into a pot of boiling sugar water. I doubt thats what the hack video Anne was debunking was doing though.

5 Minute Crafts “debunking” certain hacks is most likely an attempt at seeming “better” than their competition. I wouldn’t trust their debunking videos more than their regular stuff.

When I saw the strawberry ones on tiktok, I was really confused because I thought everyone rinsed their fruit and knew that there would be dirt on them. I’ve never had bugs on mine, but that’s why you rinse you them off right. I didn’t think it’d be surprising to some people on the internet

The strawberry trend really bothered me. People were like 'oh my god, we were eating bugs! 🤮' but like...didn't you wash your fruits BEFORE this trend?
i dont care for the bug , we harvest Strawberrys directly from the field , rub of the dirt and Bugs with the hand and right into the mough. I grown up this way eating fruits and veggies .I'm a pretty healthy person with very few allergies ( oly hazelnuts). So much little incets tell , they organic grown no pesticides
I'm pretty sure people legit FORGET where food comes from. They think it's made in a factory or something, because they're so removed from the process. Most of them probably WEREN'T rinsing their fruit.

Some people survived smallpox; that doesn't mean the world isn't better now that we have better hygiene. "I did this and lived" is a terrible argument. Just because you did, that doesn't mean everyone or even most people will - and back when we lived by that logic all the time (because we had nothing better), a lot more people died.

im actually shocked that powerade somehow seemingly made the roses wilt slightly slower and also worked similarily to water after the cut stems

i think probably the powerade has a higher water content than the other two, and it's also not carbonated so the roses can take it up more easily
Powerade is full of electrolytes and is good for rehydration which is why it is advertised for athletes since it replaces the electrolytes that were lost from sweating. Pedeolyte(sp?) would probably work as well as it is to replenish electrolytes in sick children.

After clipping a rose, you have less then 15 minutes to get it into water before the stem seals. This occurs to protect the plant irself by preventing fluid loss and disease entry, but the severed stem does this also as an automatic response to being cut.

in my country, we often joke that if you find bugs in vegie or fruit it is much better since they don't have too much residual pesticide
My grandmother actually thinks store bought strawberries are too hard and bland so she prefers to grow them. Growing up I learned how to properly wash them and get rid of the little invaders.
@@felidaeunplugged8316 Your grandmother would be right. Strawberries are grown for size, not for taste or texture, so small organic slow-growing strawberries from your garden are softer and sweeter, while rapidly growing massive strawberries have their total sugar diluted across the fruit.
Just wait until they find out about figs :) an 11 year old I know became so parinoid that the cut all her figs open after that, even though it's only a considerable issue with fruits grown in the US. I forget if it's an issue of pesticides, or some other factor. My grandma and I used to eat figs straight off the tree many years ago :)

my guess is that 5 minute crafts might be debunking the blossom videos to try and get rid of their competition since both channels make similar content. People that see the 5 minute craft debunking videos will think that blossom is untrustworthy and then potentially stop watching the blossom videos and then only watch the 5 minute craft ones lol

Ahhhh so much more to say about these hacks! I think the egg noodles are supposed to be like Spätzle, but Spätzle batter isn't supposed to be runny (its consistency is between a dough and a batter, really). If it's going to run out of holes in a bag, it's too runny for sure. If you want to make Spätzle but don't have one of the presses or a Hobel (the grater-looking thing that a lot of people use to make them), you have two choices - 1. the super traditional way that your Oma probably insists is the only way, which is to make more of a dough and just flick it into the boiling water with a knife, or 2. press it through a colander (I've done this before when visiting people abroad who obviously don't have any Spätzle-making devices in their homes, as most normal people outside of southern Germany don't), in which case it should be a bit runnier (but not THIS runny for sure). At any rate, recipes vary (and I don't really follow one anymore), but basically you need some flour, some eggs (or even just one egg, but never more than 2 for a cup of flour, I'd reckon), a pinch of salt and enough water to give it the consistency you need. I'm getting long-winded here, but you don't need to roll out a heavy dough or have a runny egg mess. Homemade Spätzle is definitely easier!

@@Deangirl86 parasites are as natural and common in the wild as flies are. Wash literally every piece of fresh produce you get from anywhere, outside or even just the store. Working minimum wage grocery jobs opened my god damn third eye to how gross grocery stores are with their food.

One time I was making Mother’s Day cupcakes for my mother. I was using red food coloring so I could make pink icing. I accidentally knocked the red food coloring off the counter and didn’t notice. My dog found the coloring and took it to my mom’s WHITE CARPET and decided that that was a good place to eat it. 10 minutes later I am looking for the powdered sugar and with the corner of my eye I see red food coloring all over my dog and the white carpet. (It looked like a murder scene tbh) I called my mom and told her about the incident. My mom told me to get sparkling water and a wash cloth and pour the sparkling water on the stains and then dab it with the wash cloth. 2 hours later the carpet is spotless. It takes forever but at least you get the stains out!

“The secret for pollution is dilution” Regular tap water works just as well, but the method is correct- just pour water over the spill and dab it up. It does take time, but works for everything. I got a quart of latex paint out of our carpet once- can’t tell it was ever there.

We were actually recommended the steam trick to 'iron out' our graduation gowns a few years ago when I graduated bc the material is basically just plastic and even low iron settings would melt it
Why are people surprised there are bugs in strawberries. You should be washing all your produce regardless before eating.

I would recommend washing everything. The supermarket doesn’t wash them because it’s the consumers responsibility to do so. There are people that have a hard time figuring out which “insert fruit/veg here” they want, so they pick up up to 5-10 before they settle. Now times that by at least 100. Even the stuff in packages should be washed (think salads, fruits, etc)
I'm honestly surprised at the amount of people who don't wash their produce, it's pretty disgusting.

I live in farm country rural Pennsylvania USA and I learned that the restroom is very far away from the fields so the guys will sometimes do their business in the fields..so guys please! For the love of all that's holy...WASH YOUR PRODUCE!!! PLEASE!

Having worked in food processing before; bugs get into absolutely anything edible if they can reach it. We found beetles inside dried beans meant for food, granted it was literally one or two beans out of thousands on the conveyor, on a daily basis everyone eats part of an insect in something. Just think of that as extra protein! :D
Imagine visiting a friend for dinner and they sit down with a full toilet lid necklace just to eat their food
Plus it reminds me of those feeding bags you hang around the neck on horses to feed them on the go, but with the added gross out factor of using part of a toilet to eat off.
I've spent dinners with a toilet lid around my neck at friends' houses before. But not because I kept dropping the food. I didn't eat there again. As my uncle calls it, bowing to the porcelain god of regret.

Because there are people who believe that rice are made in factory and chocolate milk are produced by brown cows, maybe yes there are people who recently learnt that fruits grow in the dirts
I don't think learning is the right word, but maybe appreciating is a bit better. I'm sure most people are familiar with plants. One of my favorite places to go is actually a green house in my city that uses those little misters on the fruits and veggies. It makes the air smell so fresh! Though as someone who studied quite a bit in agriculture due to my state, it does astonish me at times when I meet people that are surprised that bugs get on things in large, open fields. It's sort of similar to people who panic when they go to buy flowers and a bee comes out of a bud... like, you're in their neighborhood!

I've actually done the shower steam thing in a hotel, but I had to leave the water on full heat--much hotter than you'd be able to do safely if you were actually in the shower--for way longer than 15 minutes, and even then I'm not sure the shirts would have been sufficiently crease-free to wear in a formal business setting. They were okay for casual wear, though.

I would add a caveat that, while the steam from the shower doesn’t work as well as a hot iron, it does still help reduce/soften the wrinkles, especially if the shirt is tremendously wrinkly. And especially once you actually put the shirt on and it can stretch a bit over your torso. Not what I would use if going on a date, but a good enough threshold that your shirt won’t be drawing strange looks in public.

The steaming trick actually does work for some kinds of fabrics, namely tulle/chiffon I think (don't quote me on the exact kinds). I grew up a competitive dancer and we'd stuff our costumes into suitcases and they'd get sooo wrinkly. We'd run the hotel room showers really hot and leave them hanging in there for a while and they'd be wrinkle-free in a bit. No, it wasn't just the act of hanging that solved the problem, as that didn't work. It was the steam. But it won't work for thicker fabrics like the ones they showed in those videos. It's not a catch-all solution. But it does work for some things :)

The other thing with the Skittles popcorn that shows it's obviously faked is that somehow you end up with individually different coloured kernels (with absolutely no partially coated ones either), rather than just a bunch of brownish kernels, which is what you'd really get when the colours mixed together

I remember when I first noticed the whole: there are bugs on berries, and my mind went.... and?
For goodness sake Internet, plants grow outside, outside and inside there are bugs, bugs are attracted to many plants.
Even my grandmother would tell me to wash fruit/veggies because of this, unless you want extra protein in your food. It's even trsdition where I live to go forraging for barries and mushrooms during season and I don't know how many times I've found random hitchikers in this. I even once had a fried centipede in my mushrooms that my mother jokingly said was a little extra protein in my food.
There are a number of cultures as well that eat bugs as protein, it's not the end of the world to get a little bug on it. No one is forcing you to eat it (even my mother did not, despite her comment, she just had fun making it because I was 10 and had a reaction to finding it).
the strawberry videos are from tik tok which is a children's app (that deliberately promotes "rich looking" children btw), thus the disgust is from ignorant children not from "internet"

I think the implication of the strawberry one in the original videos is that a seemingly normal strawberry has all of this dirt and bugs INSIDE of them and you only draw them out by putting them in salt water. Which is of course ridiculous because no one has bitten into a strawberry to find a spider in there, they're on the outside, and there is no reason why salt water would suck out huge particles of stuff. So it's less that people are surprised by bugs and dirt on berries and more that the videos try to convince you that they're hidden inside of them.
And apparently every time u sleep with ur mouth open, u eat a spider
