Watching the real Tokyo sarin nerve gas attack on TV messed me up. Like how does one discard their own humanity to the point of mass murder?
it was a cult of religious fanatics, and the people who did it received small amounts of prison time, the leader died sometime later only to get another fanatical leader.
Criminal Minds also included this in Season 11 Episode 2 “The Witness”. This episode of L&O was far more depressing though.

This is just horrific, imagine being the first responders. My dad is a retired paramedic and I would worry about him all the time and I couldn’t imagine him coming across something like this, like he’s seen some awful stuff but nothing like this, it just makes me sick that this is what he could’ve dealt with.
@Shana Jackson No one likes you.
@Shana Jackson Where are your parents?
This actually happened in Japan. It is based on a Sarin gas attack by a batshit cult leader.
this was the tokyo subway attack the guys that responded got poisoned by moving the bags of liquid sarin to a small garbage can in an enclosed office
Yup, paramedics have a rough job I had a Lt in the US Army who before he got commissioned he spent time as a paramedic and he got to assist on the John Wayne Gacy case. Lots to deal with.
After I retired from the Army and before I got my degree I worked as a Security Guard at a hospital and one of our jobs was to bag the bodies of those patients who passed on and there were a few since the hospital dealt with cancer, heart and had a dialysis center as well. Had several coworkers who could not deal with that and they quit working at the hospital.
The last part abt concealing the smoke bomb in an inconspicuous bag for someone to step on and detonate... that's why my mom always stop us from kicking/stepping on random things on the ground.
Anymore, you have to be careful with picking up money dropped by whoever on the streets, it might be laced or contaminated with chemicals or illicit drugs to cause an overdose or worse.
RIP Richard Belzer and Jerry Orbach 😢😢😢
2 of the best TV detectives
and now Andre Braugher too
This was such a great crossover episode and it's not surprising that they mixed multiple real-life stories in order to create one that could potentially happen. Shout out to Engine #9. That line no longer exists in NYC!
Wasn't that one of the engines responding to 9/11? I remember a couple of firehouses responded and some of them lost quite a few brave ones.
@@rjfiction1527 i think he means subway line 9 on the west side, that no longer exists, fdny engine 9 still exists
What was the cross-over episode with?
@@madcat789 Another show called Homicide: Life on the Street. It was a crime show based in Baltimore City. The second episode of the crossover was S4E12 called “For God and Country.” Homicide was the series that introduced the Detective Munch character.
@@spooter79 oh! Thanks man.
Including John Munch is a nice touch. Especially since SVU hadn't been created yet.
John Much was originally a character created for a show called Homicide: Life on the Street. This was the first of three crossover episodes they did with that show. Note the two other character's (Kyle Secor as Tim Bayliss and the Emmy winning Andre Braugher as Frank Pembleton) mentioned in the crossover. After Homicide ended, Richard Belzer went to SVU, where he was criminally underused. The fact that you don't know that Munch wasn't from SVU is a tragic thing for you to admit. I feel sorry for you.
@@katherynemero4118 Oh, I knew about the Baltimore series. It’s just extremely difficult to find some of those older shows.
It is a crossover episode with a show called “Homicide Life on the street” (in my opinion, the best crime show ever after The Wire) - Munch was the character there first
@@katherynemero4118 you were doing fine with your recounting of why the Munch pembleton and Secor characters were listed in the credits because of their connection with a crossover episode from homicide life on the street then you had to become a jackass and go into making it personal why am I not surprised because of the UA-cam mentality
@@iampchan083 And, oddly enough, Arrested Developement.
I loved McCoy's closing argument when he threw law books into the trash can. Judge Scarletti's line "Chutzpah in the first degree!"

@@TheDude1764 yup. ^^^ election season is 'right' around the corner, and I'm horrified what the next government orchestrated pre election catastrophe is going to be.
It didn't make sense at the time either, it's not like this is the first act of domestic terrorism America had seen and we didn't know how to handle it. This was just a couple years after the Oklahoma city bombing. This would have fallen directly into the FBIs jurisdiction with local PD being support at most.

@@aggressiveattitudeera887 Well it’s an episode where a bunch of black people get gassed to death. Nothing about the episode is funny.
Minor nit, oxygen (Group 6) can only accept two valence electrons, so the diagram at 4:30 shouldn't have a bond between the oxygen atoms. No such problem with cacodyl, since arsenic is Group 5 and can thus make three single bonds.
Well it isn't like they're going to actually give out instructions for how to make a WMD on network television.
@@MikeCGannon True. No doubt a CYA move on the part of the producers.
I don’t think the cops would have caught onto a problem that fast. A person coughing in NYC isn’t exactly abnormal.
Someone bent over hacking is warrant enough for them to just check if he’s alright. I have had a cop straight up ignore me when I was obviously sick once though so it depends.
DON'T EVER. THINK.
That This COULD NOT happen here.
It happened in Japan.
Count Dankula did an entire video on this. Search for "Count Dankula Shoko Asahara".
At this point I'm more expecting it to hit sometime between now and Christmas.
Hell, after 9/11 ANYTHING could happen.
It has happened, and we've suffered more than 20 fatalities. Another election, another government schemed genocide
In theory anything could happen anywhere. But most people aren't homicidal, and there are some protections I think for some kinds of attacks, or I hope so anyways. I'd hope they have a strong ventilation system for emergency venting if they suspect something is amiss in the subways. I do recall they had some weird protection measures against massive flooding a few years ago, Hurricane Sandy I think it was, so there should be other things that kind of work with that I guess.
But these days it appears it's simpler for nutcases to just buy a gun and open fire.
The scene with them eating in the office made me hungry. I've already eaten. Thanks a lot scene.
The bodies in the opening reminds me of "Heaven" back in season 2 when Logan & Cerreta investigated a nightclub arson that killed 53 Hispanics
What about the episode where 23 people were killed in a nightclub because some stupid girl added extra chemicals to the fire effects for a rock band?
I always wonder how they could even charge that - it couldn’t be murder 1, because her intent was very clearly not murder.
But manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide seem to be inadequate charges for the death of 23 people! 😞
Most likely they would charge the person with 23 charges of criminal negligence, if she wasn’t a qualified person to do the effects you could make the argument that it would be murder in the third degree if it happened in the 3 states that have that.
@@gambitgames3481 The girl definitely wasn't qualified - she was a fan trying to impress the band! We later find out the lead singer was her father - her mother was a groupie way back when - but I don't think she knew that until after the fire.
Like I said, her intent was never murder... but for the death of 23 people, the families would want SOME form of punishment.
Law and Order takes place in New York... is that one of those 3 states where 'murder in the 3rd degree' is a legal charge?
@@dmf1301 unfortunately not, however second degree manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide would take its place.
My money would be on criminally negligent homicide. To quote the charge; “Criminally negligent homicide is when a death results because a person was being criminally negligent. What this means is that the person’s behavior was so blameworthy, irresponsible and neglectful as to be deviating from how a reasonable person would behave under similar circumstances.”
This charge comes with a maximum of 4 years in prison. I also believe that it can be stacked similar to how murder can be stacked. I would assume she would serve all charges at the same time instead of one after another as this is presumably her first offense.
Been waiting for clips from this story to drop!

@@ILoveRomances Cool
I remember this opening to Law & Order, and it is too much like real life these days. In Europe, there is a group protesting oil. Their solution is to sit down in the middle of a busy street and stop people who have little to no control over finding and utilizing new sources of oil as they are trying to get to an honest day’s living or home to a loving family. On 9/11, four planes filled with civilians were hijacked and used for controllable missiles. None of these passengers and crew even set Middle-East policy for our nation. Pilots have committed suicide, taking innocent passengers with them. Children have walked into schools looking for retribution from their bullies while killing classmates and staff members who never caused them any harm. A peaceful change of power turned into a siege of our Capitol, and the “United” in the United States has become a joke with nobody laughing. Whether you believe in God, evolution, or something in between, we all have and value life, we all can love or hate, and we can all make our own decisions. When do we stop calling ourselves humans or evolved and start acting like it? I personally believe in God (I am not telling anybody what to believe as far as religion), and I believe one day we will live in His perfect presence. But even if that time of perfection has not come yet, that does not mean we cannot make the world better now. Love it or hate it, that is what I believe. Be blessed.
I live in Queens, My neighbor has a pool. Lot of houses in Douglaston and Whitestone have pools.
I need spoilers please, please🥺
Like to Tokyo metro incident and many other horrible incidents it’s sad that we live in a world where people Will try to do something so sick and horrible like a chemical attack or shooting up a school, hospital, supermarket. Or try blowing up a major landmark or important government building with important people inside! It’s also so sick how certain research companies will try to create some life changing medicine or clean fuel or lotion or spray to kill bugs or something we need in this world that would benefit people on the planet; when in reality it has the worst side effects ever and it kills or hurts a-lot of good people and then they try covering it up! Or say if some company were supposed to properly dispose of some waste the legal right way but instead they cut corners and disposed of the improperly and that waste happen to have a very foul smell or radiation or possibly Very harmful germs and got a lot of people messed up! It’s so sick that we live in a world that people just don’t care and will do anything to either save money or think they’re doing what’s right for God or want the other guy in some election to win by any means necessary or whatever motives people have!
Sigh, I miss Briscoe, he was one of my favourite L&O characters.
