- I got my Hasbro Star Wars Black Series General Grievous in from dorksidetoys.com and while I like a lot of it, there's also some things I don't like. Hasbro made a valiant effort and it shows but I think the actual movie design actually works against them here. Still, it's nice to have options, especially if you don't want to build a model kit.

He doesn't really crouch, he does more of a hunch.
There is a decent amount of knee bend in grievous' default stance but I would agree

That stitch is called a dart.
Darts are folds (tucks coming to a point) and sewn into fabric to take in ease and provide shape to a garment. They are used frequently in all sorts of clothing to tailor the garment to the wearer's shape, or to make an innovative shape in the garment. =^.^=
I'm a sucker for the bad guys in the black series. Dammit. Preordered.

If you search up GPSlot on eBay they do a really good Grievous cape - if you're just after the cape then that might be a better idea

A valiant attempt by Hasbro, it was always going to be a difficult figure to pull off. But I think I’ll wait and see what Figuarts come out with...

I knew it. Told people that Hasbro was going to screw the pooch on this figure and sure enough, they did.
No organ sack, scale is way off, the weathering looks terrible, the cape is embarrassingly awful, no wrist swivel and to top all off many people have complained about super loose joints.
Get the model kit.
For the price of him he'd need to be a pretty perfect figure for me to buy. I am a stickler for scale accuracy so I'll need to pass. He does need to be a little bigger to display correctly it looks like. Thanks for the review!

I love this figure. He is amazing. Sculpt, paint, design. He is the best. Plus he can get into spider mode. Love it.

Thanks for the review. I was planning on getting one of these but didn't know if I should or if there were better options. I think I'll stick with the Black Series one but the Model Kit looks interesting.

Iker Muñoz Cano the most recent and upcoming releases from S.H.Figuarts have and will all have been from ROTS, like most recently Anakin, Obi-Wan, and then Dooku (next month) and Yoda later this August so it’s a strong possibility that they’ll be releasing him hopefully soon. And I can’t wait.
Honestly, in terms of 1/12th scale, the Bandai Model kit will the best Grievous we'll ever get only because of the organs and since he's incredibly light, you can pose him in plenty of stances that are going to be tough for heavy figures like this one and the Figuarts (if we ever get it).
Got my Grievous today from EE. Looks sweet. Have the Bandai one as well but Hasbro has done a great job.
Nice to seperate his arms and hands and get his jacket off!

This comment is 2 years late, but I’ve gotta say, with where Grievous’ canonical height is, this figure is actually perfectly scaled. Seeing a lot of people in this comment section saying the scale was off, but it’s actually right on the money. The model kit, however, is too big, Grievous is not as tall as Chewbacca, never has been
You should use pledge with future shine to tight up the joints and also good for eyes to get that realistic look

If you where to buy a general action figure, I would recommend bandi kit general grievous over this black series action figure. The bandai kit is a beautiful model and very detailed even though u have to build it. You also get to customize him with paint to make him have battle wear if you want to. I have no regrets with the model and it was worth the money. The only thing is, he a fragile, you can not mess around with him too much, since hes a model kit. I think Bandai kit did an awesome job with designing him and put some real love into him. On top of that Amazon recently put the kit in there store, so you dont have to buy it from a shady Japanese website. If the kit is too expensive then i also recommend a clone trooper or boba fett, these guys are just as good and are half the price, you get them on Amazon too.
B1s are too big and Grevious is too small, Hasbro not off to a good start with the CIS army.
The battledroids are actually perfect considering they're 6'3 in canon. Grievous on the other is definitely shorter. If you can get the model kit, please do so. It's perfect.

@@Skelefunk Ah, that's unfortunate. Did it break while building it or did it drop? Also, sh should release theirs anytime though.
@@epidemic1207 One of the ears broke in building and since I put the legs together wrong I fucked up one of the legs. The arm is something else, just poor joint construction
Battle droids are actually scaled accurately but grievous is too small.

I have the model kit and I am waiting for SHF to get Grievous soon :D I wish the cape was more thin and with some wires, plus the emblem on it.

basically if you just want something ready out of the box get the bs, if you don't mid a bit of extra work and you are not a hamhands get the model kit

You know I haven’t seen anyone try to turn the head around and bend him into his spider positions. Just curious if he’ll do that? Looks like a great figure I’m sure I’ll pick him up!
Its safe to say he wont,i doubt that he can bend legs both ways and support the weight,and his legs go backwards to be the spider
I'll probably display this figure on my shelf without the cape. And besides, Grievous looks cooler holding his lightsabers without his cape on anyways.
Toybox grievous is the best only because he can stand on his own with ease.

Dude, I literally got my copy today! Nice! Such a great figure too! Tbh, I like both but even though the Black Series is a bit smaller, sometimes a bit too small, I still think it works. Also, my joints are still nice and tight for the most part, but the "Dog legs" should probably be a bit more snug on mine. Though it still hasn't caused any problems for me. (Hopefullythe it won't.) So I may just keep both for certain poses and pictures all together. Idk though. It depends how much I use the Bandai kit. Especially when the head is ridiculously loose just because I had to pop it off once because I forgot a piece... I definetly like the Black Series articulation, but when/if the SHF Grievous comes out, that may be my go to. But we'll see.
With him you need the Poseable stand I’m not sure of the name but it’s the one that has a base and a stand that can extend for jet back troopers but that stand comes with a piece with goes around the figures torso. Which keeps him from falling over.😁😁

The Fwoosh for sure. Just starting my Black Series collection. So far I have cal kestis, Ahsoka Tano, Kanan Jarrus, TLJ Kylo Ren, and bespin Luke Skywalker.
It’s the only Black Series Grievous we’re gonna get, so despite flaws it is what it is...and since I only collect Black Series (for now), I want one. Well, I ordered 4 actually....Great Review!

Wow that comparison was what I was waiting for. Just finished the Bandai video. The lightsaber's weird scale bugs me, and the cape has nothing on the black series, but the scale difference! I'm 100% going model kit this time. Grevious has to have that height for maximum shelf presence. And the inner detail is great. Better arms, and personally I paint everything, even my Black Series; So a modular kit just makes that easier.
Thanks for buying both so we only have to buy one Robo.

I have been wondering about the comparison with the model kit. Model Kit still seems to be the king. Detail, size and chest make it the better option.
Now we have to wait for the Figuarts release.

I got this Grievous and he is really cool. The only problem I have is the cape missing the symbol. I fixed that problem. What I did is drew the symbol on there with a paper to guide me.
Just wait for the S.H figuarts General Grievous.
It will definitely look really nice, but I’m worried the slight down scale that the SH Figuarts figures usually tend to be will make him a little too small. When they do put out a Grievous, hopefully they’ll take that into consideration though. :fingers crossed:

I gave up on my only 3.75” General Grievous figure. He kept falling over (he has no articulation in the knees or ankles) and the lightsabers wouldn’t fit in his hands.
He now lives in a tub.
I know this is late, but i just got the model kit grievous, and you can use the black series grievous lightsabers on the model kit, they fit very well in the hands, and it makes the sabers in scale if your mixing star wars figures from different companies

I bought my grievous just yesterday and I believe I got a defect, his left hand peg is too big to go in the slot and his top left seems longer to a point the elbow peg won’t fit in without the hand peg lining up but other than that I personally loved this figure as a way to display a character who really deserves more love merchandise wise in my opinion
I got a defective one too. He had two "male" left arms so his 2 left arms wouldn't connect

TBS Grievous is nice but after seeing all the reviews and the model kit comparisons, I believe with S.H. Figuarts most recent and future ROTS releases of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and now Dooku next month and Yoda this upcoming August, I’m definitely waiting and holding out for their General Grievous which looks bigger and more screen accurate like the model kit, but I may still grab this one just in case.

Well crud. I was looking forward to this one, but this does feel like one I'll skip on. Maybe the Figuarts Grievous will make it out someday... Damn, I wish Hasbro would've done the two sets of arms or something. I could've probably lived with the other issues.
The only thing I don't like about this figure is that he doesn't have rotating wrists.

7:50 it's loose because the gun is meant to be used when the arms are connected,but you put it on the hand alone so it stretched out the hand.
The model kit wins again, like it usually does. Bandai doesnt even need to do the Figuarts version.

A awesome figure
My Dorkside Grievous arrives tomorrow. After watching this review, I'm not very excited. Maybe it's the fact that I'm currently all in on Marvel/DC Mezco figures right now, but this Grievous feels very underwhelming imo. While I'm happy at the cloth goods attempt, the promo cape looked SO much better. Add in the loose joints and overall blandness to this figure and I'm kinda regretting paying nearly $40 for him when it's all said and done. Who knows, maybe having him in hand tomorrow will change my mind a bit.
The worst part is I ordered him from GameStop first (higher price than Dorkside) and it's been murder trying to cancel that order. Surely I don't need two of these...
I know kinda old but cool, can't wait to get mine finally :P Dorkside has Grievous in stock finally. How dark blue are the blue lightsaber bits though?? I think I'm gonna keep mine in the double lightsaber kinda arm stance personally though for sort of a Clone Wars look =]
