all these years I've been worried about the crankshaft/cam. however you made that look easy. this brake system has me worried again. Thanks for doing this step by step video though. On to part 3!
It was really that easy. There is something wrong with the brake parts they send with these saws. I read the one spring they give you is for a MS 660. I need to look into that. My brake works, it just has to be pushed really far forward.
Good evening Sir 😊 Great technical video and you are very good at it Sir 👍 ( full watch ! ) That break system is not easy to do 😮 Have a great week Sir Cheers !!!
Great video for a full assembly. At 1:40 the rubber oil pump plug (Stihl PN 1128 647 7000) first appears in the video, already installed on the oil pump. It was not installed in the prior footage. I don't see where it's installation is mentioned at anytime afterwards either.
Couple of things, I don't think a gasket is supposed to go between the cylinder and the heat shield, the IPL only shows one gasket between the shield and muffler. Second, your bar studs are around the wrong way and I think you're supposed to apply loctite to the threads
Thx for the video..im building one now..actually just rebuilt a 44 for a buddy n kept having a leak when p/v testing, clutch bushing was leaking so looked in service manual n there's an o-ring that goes under the bushing not shown in ipl it stopped the leak so I put one in my build as well.. how's yours runnin..ive got an oem cylinder goin on mine n put farmertec bb on the other 44 n it's a nice cylinder w good port numbers!! Good stuff roger!!

Thanks! Sometimes a small part can get left out in the filming or editing process.
Gotta say, looks pretty well made, and compatibility with Stihl parts is a big deal
Yeah, it is really not that bad. It is not Stihl quality. They are fun to build.

I may have put them in backwards, the log side of the stud goes in the case. Yes, the studs on a stihl have loctite from the factory.

Do you have any issues with the clutch drum bearing with the plastic cage? Wondering if it gets affected by heat
No I haven't.
Little bit of ambiguity with the clutch side install. I would have put the chain brake on prior to any of the clutch.
Whatever you want to do.
