Would you recommend building one from scratch like this over buying the complete saw already assembled? That way you know the cylinder is all good, bolts are tightened correctly, bearings can be oiled etc.
I don't have any expeirce with an assemebled saw, yet. If you bought one assembled you could retorque everything. They may prelube everything, Im not sure. If something sits for a while, Stihl recommends that you let it idle til it warms up so everything is lubircated well. You could do that on an assembled saw. If you buy one, please use my link. www.farmertec.com/?parent_user_id=2671556&
The farmer tec carbs are hit and miss but I discovered they also will break in. You can set em as good as you can and they’ll change after some use and you have to retune them. Sounds like you got it close to leaned out enough at the end. If it’s cranking and hi idle works fine, I’d give it a chance before changing it.
I am noticing the same thing. When I did the video, the h screw was 1/4 turn out. Now it is 3/4. I did also put an NGK plug in it. The diaphragm material must not be exactly right so they require some run time. I am going to run it some before I say it is good or junk.
I've actually noticed the same thing with my 440 kit I've got a oem carb I might try throwing that on and see if it makes a difference. On a side note I wish you had your videos out about 3 months ago when I bought my kit would have made things alot easier during assembly. I watched your video the other day and realized I forgot a couple things when I put mine together
I have it a good bit better now. I need to run it some more before I can say it is good or junk. Are you still running the farmertec plug in yours? If you are change it out. I run NGK. You won't believe the difference it will make in the carb adjustment.
Do you have a trusted website to download the repair manuals from? I have noticed a lot of the farmertec saws are discontinued models, and not on the stihl website
Go on a saw forum or Facebook group and ask for the manual for the saw/s you need. They are getting harder to find for free. I'm not sure if stihl cracked down on the websites that used to have them or what.
Thanks for sharing this video. I just want to clarify, you are saying the Chinese carb's with the OEM carb kits run well? I just put a adjustable Chinese Carb on a Stihl MS-170 that did not come with a adjustable carb and it runs ok. But not as well as I would have hoped. Now that I know it works I was going to buy the OEM carb walbro I think and fit that but if a OEM carb kit brings these Chi carbs to life I would prefer to do that. Anyway thank for sharing this video and you earned a Sub & like from me.
My 660 clone ran better with an OEM kit in it. I've put cheap AM kits in OEM carbs and they did not run right. Then I put an OEM kit in it and they run fine. There is a good chance your carb would run fine with an OEM kit. I would return the carb if possible and get an OEM carb. They are only like $35. Thanks for the sub.
Awesome videos on the 440. Well done. It gave me the nudge to do one myself.
Good day Sir, great job Sir well explained about the carburetor 👍 Cheers !!!
Thanks 👍

@@TractorTech Master, is it possible to pour 33: 1 husqvarna ls + to drink 372xp 357xp and scythe 545rx? Will not jam the piston rings with carbon?

Tractor Tech, do you have an update on this saw build/tuning? Do you have a final verdict on it? Thanks!
I don't think I do. Things have been crazy for me this year and I forgot to. I really like this saw. It has amazing power. The torque is great.

Throw a walbro on it
I think I have it working better now. If not I'll get a walbro.
Jet too big. Downsize 2 numbers.
It has improved with the break in. Switching to an NGK plug helped too. It does need a smaller jet.
