The sixth member of the group is Silence. It's got almost as much impact as their singing. They're so good at creating that wall-to-wall sound that it's really conspicuous whenever it stops--they make Silence sing.
Agreed, they use it probably better than any other artist I can think of. It goes right back to the sing-off too. Fortunately, they also know not to over use it too, otherwise it would lose its impact.
This was one of the songs on their "At Home" EP, which they released in 2020 during the first lockdowns. They were supposed to release their next original album that year, but decded to postphone it because of the pandemic. Instead they released this EP - all tracks were arranged over zoom, recorded individually at their homes and then mixed in the studio. Same goes for the music videos - they recorded separately at home on their phones and then the videos were edited and effects added in post. For this one they just recorded themselves on a white background (same with "Dreams" and "when the partys over") for "Blinding Lights" and the "Home" medley they recorded in different places in their houses.
There is a fun little Easter egg in the video. When Mitch sings the "Break My Heart", Kevin and Matt turn away, but Kirstin and Scott both look directly at him. Mitch dated both Kirstie and Scott in high school (at different times), and there might be a story there.
Idk about Mitch & Kirstie, but I believe based on what was in the Sup3rfruit book that it was Mitch that decided things wouldn't work out with Scott after a few weeks. I think feelings got hurt (perhaps Mitch did break Scott's heart a little back then) & they apparently didn't speak for a good few months, before making back up again. Then Scott left for college and they drifted apart somewhat until Scott called and asked Mitch if he wanted to do The Sing-Off. The book also said that they also "tried" to hook up once while they were on The Sing-Off, but they realised it felt weird/wrong, so they stopped midway through. There was an episode of Sup3rfruit, iirc they were answering questions and there was one that asked something like had they ever had a naughty dream about each other, Mitch said he had (then down played it as just kissing), but Scott said he hadn't. To which Mitch replied, "That's disappointing." In a parallel universe they may have been perfect for each other (maybe if they didn't meet til college or something, but then we maybe wouldn't have PTX), but I think perhaps they were supposed to be platonic soul mates. Didn't Soctt & Kirstie try to date too? IDK either of their stories with regards to dating her.
I'm pretty sure the coloured backgrounds were added after the video was recorded. It was done during Covid, so they all recorded from their homes. And I remember that Mitch's shirt changed colours a couple of times during the video, so likely the original colour was white.
FYI: PTX will be getting a star on the Walk of Fame next week. The three-time GRAMMY Award-winning a cappella singing group Pentatonix, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee will be honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on February 21, with the 2,748th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Live Performance. Just thought you would like to know!
Love how Kirstie is having so much fun, and really makes this song pop. Mitch slapped by his Balenciaga t-shirt, that is a 600.00 shirt! He doesn’t dress them now though because of child labor issues.

Love this comment. Nailed it.

Who else keeps hearing / expecting “Welcome to my house” every time after “Am I falling in love with the one that could break my heart”? 😛
Yup, and then I expect the next line of this song during Home 😂
This was filmed during the pandemic, each from their own home. Which explains a little why the video looks like it does.
are most reactions to music videos done about the graphics on the video? It just seems I didn't really hear much reaction about the song itself...
Thanks for the shirt color analysis…..sarcasm
Your jealousy is showing.
You doofus
Huh?
