Christmas under the stars was a TV show in USA where they performed. So they were doing it live. In concert they put the microphone on the floor. Everyone is super quiet. It is amazing
1. Yes, they are singing live. 2. Correct again, Low notes are Matt alone. 3. 1000% agree, this group has INCREDIBLE restraint and blend. They NEVER get in each other’s way, the opposite actually. They support each other at the highest possible level.
This reminded me so much of their 2014 original "Run to You," then I found that this song (original by The Rescues in 2008) was inspiration for "Run to You."
Thank you for doing this. Notice how they know each other so well, and trust each other that they don't need to look for visual clues while they're singing, they close their eyes and really feel the song. It is a brilliant live performance
They end their current Evergreen concert with this, it’s so beautiful. Just the 5 of them in a circle and as others have said, the 10,000 people are silent to witness this magic ☀️☀️☀️. Merry Christmas 🎄
Yes this was a live performance at their BYU Christmas Under the Stars concert. There are other songs from that concert on UA-cam if you search. They are all awesome recordings. Love your reactions!! Merry Christmas! ♥️🎄
Kirstie and Mitch are doing different parts. The original was by the Rescues. Very similar, a cappella, but no low voices. PTX added the low voices (Matt and Kevin). This is live with the mics. Matt has an amazing range, so he is singing higher than a bass part sometimes. They are always very intentional when they sing. Even riffs and runs are intentional. Merry Christmas!!!!
They performed this as one of their encore pieces at their concert in Baltimore. They all stood around a stand with a single light bulb in a semi-circle. It was so quiet in the arena that you could hear a pin drop and they sang this with no mics and just their natural voices floating across the audience. It was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for covering this and I hope you and yours have a very merry Christmas.
They do this style of song on most of their albums (no percussion, close harmony), like they also will have a big blockbuster like "Hallelujah" or "The Prayer". Previous songs similar to this are their originals "Run to You" and "Light in the Hallway", their cover of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" and their live version of "Silent Night".
Great reaction. Hope you enjoy the holidays! They did this on their tour and you could hear a pin drop in the arena while they were singing. So talented.
Well, I think the competition is over. Jorim won the 'Ugly Christmas Sweater' contest. LOL!! When I was younger & worked where we had those contests, I would have beat him though. Yes, my understanding is this was done live. I get dark vibes from this song. Still a hopeful message. Almost like a loved one died & they have to go thru a time (Christmas/Holiday?) without them. Great reaction guys. 😀
Generally, if PTX has mics in a video, it's live. Otherwise they are lip synching, except some of their early videos where they couldn't afford mics for everyone.
I don’t know which channels you’re subbed to but even some of the bigger reaction channels pause even more than I do so what you say clearly doesn’t count for everyone. Also, there aren’t that many reactions to this song in particular in comparison to some of ptx’s bigger vids. I’m already glad that you’re watching. And we also have fun with these videos.
Live. Yes.
Definitely live.
They are excellent at listening to each other. They have mics because this is live.
This song reminds me of a blind person feeling their way along a sidewalk in the late fall with just a bit winter in the air.
This truly shows their genius in what they do!
I feel the word you're looking for is Deliberate.

It was amazing! There were 11k people in Minneapolis and you could have heard a pin drop.
@@lauriedaiken4426 Wow! I didn’t get to a live one-only saw the concert they televised. I bet live it was amazing

Merry Christmas to you both and your families. A good one is Carol of the Bells from the same show. It's awesome.
Layered blankets of vocal warmth.

I was there in Baltimore and while the show was excellent, this was the absolute best song of the night. Perfection
Merry Christmas. Thanks for doing the Christmas songs.
Glad you enjoy it
Thanks for the great reactions guys! Love your observations and content. More please!

I also got the "dark" vib. It makes me think of Christmas somewhere between WWI & WWII. Longing & fear & LOVE
Yes, they are singing it live!

Isn't it just!

No Mitch and kirstie were always on different parts
You stop the song way too much. That's why so many of us watcher's will not subscribe.

most of us true pentaholics want to hear what the reactors have to say, otherwise we would just replay the original video.
