I think “unintelligible Latin” in this context means it’s too quiet for him to hear it properly and makes out what exactly is being said but he recognizes it’s in Latin.
Yeah, I suspect it was a version of Latin that differs from the established rules classicists would know... Maybe a variant of the imperial Latin rather than the codified version the Church spoke, or maybe even an older version from the beginning of the Republic
Love the detail on Antonio's hearing aid. Period-accurate, as far as I can tell from a brief google. Those things would have been powered by vacuum tubes, if you can believe it!
Watching Jon manage to aggro the entire Vatican there toward the end gave me such a hearty, raucous laugh that it echoed. Thank you for that, Jon. Please never change.
Just finished the game. It is fabulous. One thing I found out later in the game, gather and eat the fruit and bready type items. It's not a temporary health or stamina like other games. It gives you a separate extra bar under both. Fruit is for stamina, bready type ( like biscotti, donuts, etc) is for health. Eat them up and collect more to keep in stock when that second bar starts to go down. Happy adventures!
This looks brilliant. And Troy Baker has knocked this out of the park. Being such an established character, only ever played by one person, he clearly had to try and get something at least Harrison-adjacent. But damn, he's done a really good job.
I should have figured it was Troy Baker. He has done great at capturing the right cadence, but still voice acting instead of getting caught up in an impersonation.
@@jamesmaclennan4525 Yeeeah that's fair, I could probably word that better, because there's a touch of nuance to this. Indiana has not been played by different actors in the same way that say, Batman or Bond has. All theatrical releases of Indiana Jones have had Harrison Ford play the titular role. River Pheonix played a 'young Indiana' in the prologue of The Last Crusade, Sean Patrick Flannery and Corey Carrier both also played 'young' Indiana in the The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. George Hall played an 'old' Indiana in the same series. So yes, a character by that name has been played by those guys, but they feel like distinctly different characters. The core Indiana Jones films/stories all have Harrison Ford play the character. But I think more to the point of the voicing for the game, it's irrelevant anyway. The game is set between Raiders and The Last Crusade, and is clearly meant to be based on Ford's character.
@@MichaelPalin 100% agree. He's got the essence of Ford, but it feels like he's still managed to perform and bring something to it. Can't have been easy to get that balance right. Got to say also, they nailed the facial animation too. Just in Jon's video there were a couple of tiny little moments, like a little eye roll or a stare to the side, a little tweak to the eyebrow or a hint of a smile, it all felt like they really thought about how to capture that nuance to bring him to life. Awesome.
the professor walking around with a map of campus. Reminds me of myself trying to use google maps with a campus that contains a lot of car-free spots and hills/stairs.
That line at the beginning outside the cave actually made me wonder if it was movie audio. Troy is incredibly talented. I read an interview he did, he took it so seriously, it's wonderful how he respected the character.
It gets very close, though sometimes I still hear troy. I'm surprised they couldn't convince Ford to come back since he loves being everyone that's not Han Solo
This game really has some deep-cut references to the franchise Henri Defense was a cover name Indiana used in the TV show, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles when he fought in World War 1 for a while
I also noticed he said he last saw Antonio "19 years ago", which if the game is set in 1937, would be 1918. In the Young Indiana Jones series he does indeed serve on the Italian Front in 1918 and gets wounded, so the timeline fits perfectly.
It's worth looking everywhere and clearing the area of all enemies. The Ai is very basic, but fun to fight and there's so much to find in each area. Thanks for the awesome uploads!
Jon pointedly ignoring the possibility that bandages might not be a 'consume on pickup' item and the game's throwing them at you so you can stock up is both hilarious and infuriating at the same time.
@@Tensen01 He probably only knows about the old school rubber ones that Americans use as adult toys. He's just British, its a birth defect that can't be cured.
I was on the fence about buying this game, but this spotlight has convinced me to get it. The people who made this are clear fans who did their research on what made the movies so fun. I am very excited to try this! Also hilarious as usual Jon, so glad you get to flex your history background.
Please please please please please make this a full series. I'm about 7 hours into the game and it's SO GOOD. Also: Jon, I assume you'll appreciate it since, while there is SOME combat, it's so stealth-based that it's basically "What if Agent 47 was actually Indiana Jones?" I went in expecting Uncharted/Tomb Raider, but it's so much more similar to Hitman. I'm not mad about that, either.
I am loving this game right now. Take the time to explore, you will find some great things if you just look around. I think this needs to be your next series.
"Nobody here seems the slightest bit concerned, that Father Gallaghar is just wandering around using a whip." well... Vatican was always an interesting place, Jon.

Jon, I'm pretty sure the "unintelligible Latin" isn't because Indy can't understand Latin, it's unintelligible because it's too quit for him to make out exactly what's being said. I can't read the writing that way, and the way it sways when you move is unpleasant and would give my friend motion sickness.

Been looking forward to this so much only to find out my PC wont run it ;( Watching you play it will be the best I get for a long time so I hope to see a full series (live or edited I don't mind)
Indiana Jon and the Great Spatula So from what I've seen in the video they really seem to have put in a lot work and heart to make this feel as Good as possible. Looking forward to play this when it gets released on PS.
Jon... I think we really need like a 4 hour episode of this please xD Or at least upload twice daily :D Seriously though, this series seems like it's going to be a good one. Thanks for all the awesome videos that you put out. We all love you
A little call out to the facial capture and animation. Never seen it done better. They even capture the very subtle quirks and movements; a slight bite on the lip or tightening in the jaw. The expression in the eyes are wonderfully in line with matching what the rest of the face is doing. That is NOT easy to do.
Indy being largely outmatched in a punch-up is as it should be, imo. He prefers to get the upper hand with sneaky tactics, smacking people with heavy objects, or having his opponent luckily being chopped to pieces by a propeller blade.
Not sure how I feel about Jon's reinterpretation of Indy being the good guy when within the first few seconds of the video he is whipping the guides and forcing them to go down the tunnels ahead of him. Real shades of grey.
IJ has always been my hero. I made it through the tutorial at the university but it was too linear. Gonna try again today. Interested to see what you make of it.
Im not sure why theres this much tension between Mussolini and the Vatican already, hes the one that signed the Lateran treaty into law and recognized the Popes independence

Absolutely! Jon please do this!
Full series!

I doubt this will replace the newly finished for now F4 SS2 due to his fallout series love but some other day outside of the weekend would be nice
Absolutely!
Jon: "I need a revolver"
Game: "Press left to equip revolver"
Jon: "Maybe I will get a revolver later"

First thing Indy puts in the suitcase is a massive stack of clothes.
Jon comments on how Indy isn't bringing any clothes.
He has also apparently never seen a fly swatter before.
@@MichaelPalin I can definitely see Jon trying to use a fly swatter as a spatula and Claire going: Jon! What on earth are you doing?! 🤣
Jon, Jon never changes
Troy Baker has really earned his paycheck on this one. Talk about nailing the Indy voice, kudos, sir.
you mean the Harrison ford voice?
I think “unintelligible Latin” in this context means it’s too quiet for him to hear it properly and makes out what exactly is being said but he recognizes it’s in Latin.
Or a secret dialect of Latin.
When Marcus wakes him up Indy does say it was 'some form of Latin', so it could be a form he doesn't fully recognise.
When the giant spoke, he was speaking Latin and Indy understood it
Yeah, I suspect it was a version of Latin that differs from the established rules classicists would know... Maybe a variant of the imperial Latin rather than the codified version the Church spoke, or maybe even an older version from the beginning of the Republic

I came here just to like this comment
What is a fly swatter if not a giant sorta flexible spatula
Never ask Jon to make you an omelet with raisins
@@bugsybrown1745That’s how they got by in The Blitz!

At least he doesn't have to indulge in a spot of light murder to get it 😂
Jon, picking up a fly swatter: A giant spatula!
My flyswatter will henceworth be forever known as the giant spatula. Brilliant, Jon
Watching Jon manage to aggro the entire Vatican there toward the end gave me such a hearty, raucous laugh that it echoed. Thank you for that, Jon. Please never change.
Holy crap the Candyman! Oh now I'm sad cause that actor just passed not long ago
Not just Candyman giant Candyman. Where’s the bees? He could have a huge swarm of murder hornets.
Enrico Colantoni is in then as well, Keith Mars himself!

Henri Defense was a cover name Indiana used in the TV show, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles when he fought in World War 1 for a while
