  • How do Pirelli's Scorpion Enduro Race M and T gravity tires compare to the best of the rest, have they cured previous poltergeist issues and can they possibly be worth the $100 a piece price? I've been riding them and comparing notes with other testers to find out.

Ill Stick to the specialized cannibal as a cheap , tough and grippy tyre for the ebike . 45 quid , sensible money

Reassuringly expensive 😋 Love to try them. Hard to believe they could be more grippy and damped than Michelin DH22's. Testing that would be a pricey exercise but I'm very curious

All tyre prices road, gravel and MTB have gone mental. I was paying £25.00 for the original Vittoria Pave CG Open Clincher Road Tyres. Which are wonderful. The new replacement version are now £92.00 each. Almost impossible to get a decent tyre for under £60 now. Crazy money,

I really liked the latest regular Enduro M and R combo. Light, fast and very predictable but i don't like inserts and they just weren't tough enough for the rocky areas i ride. Even more cuts than a DD Agressor! I'm not a particularly hard charger, about 75kg and that was with mid twentys in the rear in the end.
Was going to give these a go but I'm back on Michelins now.

The money for a pair of these tyres would be much better spent getting some coaching with a local rider for longer term gains.

Try finding any decent tyres at a sensible price. Tyre prices have gone crazy in the last 12 months. Coaches are even more expensive.

@@deanf2259 A day's coaching with our local world cup rider is £130. A pair of DHF's can be found fairly easily under £100. Both to me are much better value than these Pirelli's.

Not too bad price when you are getting gravel or road tyres more expensive with less tread! 😂
Were looking at Continental and Rene Herse!

Makes no sense. You still need all the same R&D, materials, manufacturing and logistics processes for any tyre. The actual material cost of a bit more plastic (tyres aren't really propper rubber these days hence all the microplastics coming from road vehicles) is negligable. So what you really mean is road, gravel AND MTB tyres are all crazy prices. And I'd agree with you.

Seems like a nice tyre for mud and wet roots. But looks super slow, so not surprised by your comments about it. So if you don't ride in horrible mud and roots all mostly, then this is overkill.
I'm curious how the bead holds up.
I'm not goign to return to Maxxis, as I've had terrible luck with them. Basically almost all were faulty, bead wore out before the rest of the tyre was done, and they got warped, misaligned thread on some leaning to the right, warped from new on many, left to right misalignment on thread. And several years in Facebook groups I read and see same issues, the Maxxis wobble as some call it. I'm not the only one that's done with Maxxis. Qc seems to not exist. I doubt it has changed.

The price is a bit much for a tire which is a relative unknown. You can buy a DD Assegai for the same price which is a very well known and very good tire. Trying new tires is certainly fine, but hard to want to do that with a tire that costs as much as a DD Maxxis

I can’t find the Race T in an enduro casing, only the DH which is 1400+ grams. Do you think the Enduro M on rear would be better from a weight and rolling speed standpoint than the DH casing T?

If you're wanting review ideas, maybe test a few Rene Herse tyres. Their prices alone should generate lots of comments!😅
Speaking as someone who rides Rene Herse tyres!

Emphatically, NO. Absolutely not worth the insane price for an average mtb'er. If an 80-90 dollar tire is the answer, then I would say improve the riding skills first.

never, that would be the ultimate stupidity for the shop. The Scorpion Race Enduro T is very hard to get and is fairly new on the market. The cheap offer would be some other low end Scorpion.

  • @philtomlinson8220

These tyres ARE hugely expensive when compared to other tyres on the market. However compared to the price of many things bike are they really that costly?
Although I'm not an mtb'er, just riding gravel and road, IMHO there's nothing which can change the performance of a bike for the money more than a swap of tyres.
If these really are better than other tyres, what else will give you a definite performance improvement for roughly £80?
Maybe that says more about the prices being charged by the bike industry in general, than just the price of these tyres though.

expensive? Not really, the price is comparable to other very good top level tires. And the performance is very good. At least with the race enduro T. The only question is whether you are one of the people who needs and can use such a tire.

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  4 місяці тому

Very true. Value is always subjective. If you can get benefit from the extra performance then it’s worth it

Maxxis Rekon are $80 US, I thought 80 dollars was normal for MTB tires. Compared to fat bike tires, that’s not a lot of money.

"Soft" compound means they wear out faster you know? Reviewers have said they are getting 1 day at the bike park from them
