Hi, I am a Chinese living in the UK. Although I am not at all a fan of the current Chinese authorities, and I don't support their actions towards the Uyghur people in recent years, I must express some disagreement with how you referred to Xinjiang in this video and in a previous one, where you mentioned being detained in Russia. Several times you referred to Xinjiang as the 'province of the Uyghurs' or similar phrases, and in this video, you seemed to suggest that Xinjiang, had it not been for China's recent 'invasion and hegemony,' would have customs similar to Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. I would like to offer a different perspective. My hometown is Urumqi, in Xinjiang, and I am Chinese, or, as you might understand, Han Chinese. I want to point out that Han Chinese have a long history of settling in Xinjiang, predating the Uyghur presence in the region in many perspectives. According to credible family records, my Han ancestors have been living in Xinjiang for at least 300 years, and it's said that their earlier ancestors were already residing in the area of modern Xinjiang and Kyrgyzstan during the Tang Dynasty. These ancestors were mostly Han Chinese. In fact, Han Chinese had already established the Silk Road over 2,000 years ago, leading to significant migration into Xinjiang. At that time, the ancestors of the Uyghur people-who were part of various ancient peoples of the Western Regions of China-might have already been living in Xinjiang, but the Uyghur ethnic identity as we understand it today did not fully form until much later, particularly after Islam became a significant part of their identity. From this perspective, Han Chinese settlement in Xinjiang predates the formation of the Uyghur people as an ethnic group, and even if you don't agree with that view, you must acknowledge that historically, Han Chinese have lived in Xinjiang for many periods, well before the founding of the CCP. So, Xinjiang is not just the homeland of the Uyghurs; it is also the homeland of millions of Han Chinese. Just like in one of your previous videos where a Russian woman asked you about your ethnicity, and you said 'New York,' because for you, New York is home, the place where your parents and their parents lived. The historical European colonial invasion of the Americas is an original sin, but that’s a few centuries ago, and it has nothing to do with you. You are a legitimate resident of America, and America is your country. Similarly, I am Han Chinese, and my hometown is Xinjiang. As a Han person whose faimily has lived in Xinjiang for generations, it is just as legitimate and rightful as if you, as a white person, have lived in the United States for generations. Xinjiang is not only the Uyghurs’ homeland; it is the homeland of over 10 million Han Chinese people. Most of us were not immigrants after the founding of the CCP. Xinjiang has a rich and locally distinctive Han Chinese culture. As someone who is very knowledgeable about China, I’m sure you can verify the truth of what I’m saying. Also, in one of your previous videos, where you mentioned some of your thoughts in Urumqi, I was both worried and grateful. On the one hand, I was concerned for you, as it’s easy to put yourself in trouble, but on the other hand, I appreciate you mentioning the heroes of the White Paper Revolution. They are true heroes, much braver than I was, when I only dared to wear a mask and sunglasses and protest outside the Chinese Embassy in London (I was afraid of facial recognition). Unfortunately, it seems they are gradually being forgotten.
That's reasonable. Never meant to suggest the Han haven't been there for a long time, although Urumqi was never a big city until very recently. In any case, hopefully you'll enjoy my visit to Xinjiang, I try to be as fair as possible

Love the life advice from the older gent at 7:15. It’s true, he’s trying to help guide you to other happiness with children, but it’s ok to be happy doing your own thing too. But just know… that kids bring their own joy that is hard to describe until you’ve had one of your own.
I'm sure they do. But you should only have them if you want them. Having kids just to tick off a life milestone is not necessarily a good idea, for you or the kids. And you should only have them with someone you want to raise kids with. Too many people are just getting married to whoever they can to have kids and it often ends in disaster.
I love that the very nice Kazakhstan lady said she doesn't like China. That lady speaks truth. In my experiences within the Soviet arena - they're not so stupid on how the World works. Tommy has this urge to get to China, that I really do not understand. But - I'm happy to watch him do it, i guess. also... getting on a crap Soviet plane...you say "it only takes 40 minutes though" Tommy...it only takes 2 minutes to die in a plane crash 😢
You have to be careful with cheap sunglasses. They probably don't have UV protection. Your eyes dilate and without UV protection more UV light gets inside your eyes. You damage your retina more with cheap sunglasses instead of just not wearing any sunglasses. 😎
You dont just stop people in the street as a Western stranger in Central Asia and ask people what they think of their government as your first question with a camera in their face. Etiquette.
Tommy, it's a pity your buddy doesn't know better than to ask a rude question question to a stranger but you should have edited it out. I'm from Jamaica, Queens and I know better than that. Shame on you guys.

@@juniperjennifer lol
Seeing this video is 100% understandable how confident and almost 0 paranoic you were back at russia
Central asians are such nice people!!!
Haha I’ve gotten so use to your under your breath “oh okay” .. in any country and while speaking any language. Lol
I was surprised to see small brain American in one of yuor videos! i just found him kind of recently and love his videos. i thought you guys might get along too!
37Mins - 20 Secs in that lad on trailer seemed to be unloading, that already harvested dried Peat / Turf, to store for the coming Winter it would have been cut out of some class of a bog in Springtime then stacked up in piles to dried trough out the late spring Summer and now time have close at hand for lofting into a little Stove, Heating and Cooking, we in Ireland would have had and still have this tradition but on a small scale, as same is a valuable ,'Carbon Sink'' so best left to do it's thing...staying in the Ground...Great Upload...
Connor really brings out the best in people, this was the funniest ive seen Sabbatical
When i watched the Podcast i knew a Collab was incoming🎉❤
2 of the goat vloggers, love to see it
Tommy, your Russian is getting better with every new video, enjoying your content, keep doing a great job.
I never thought I would want to go to Kyrgyzstan, until now.
Well the tractor might have something to do with the 17$ 😂 meanwhile, the wedding photoshoot, the grandpa's meaning of life advice....must be a sign Tommy 😂
As a long time follow of both you and @smallbrainedamerican, this is the collab I never knew I needed. Please let there be more!
Another great video Tommy! Keep up the interesting travels mate.
That dude's shock when you told him you were 37 and unmarried 😆
Amazing video! I find myself wanting to go to these places. That’s powerful. Your videos inspire me.
Silk Road.. Let’s Go!
Love your stories about these places I would love to visit someday but never will. Thanks again.
The way animals run up to Tommy, in his videos to say hi , it shows how much of a kind soul Tommy has
Althought I agree with your statement about Tommy, I doubt an angry dog would run up towards him with no reason other than bite. This is more about his soul than animals’ behavior
He didn't even attempt to pet it or show it kindness.
Definitely not Dexter.
well... if you want to believe that, go ahead
That is one of most beautiful drive throughs I have ever scene! Wow!
The Kyrgyz gentleman knows a thing or two about life, really awesome advice!
Wouldn’t call it advice but rather judgmental preaching. Could tell it made Tommy feel awkward.
@@seanj5602 I think 'Westerners' of the modern age are too cosseted. Being presented with an uncomfortable truth should do that, make you feel awkward.
You and @smallbrainedamerican!! Hell yeah man, two of my favorite travel channels coming together!!! So sweet! you guys should definitely do some more collabs. Get Mashtag Brady in on it as well!
Tom talking about how he felt about the flight in the intro is eerie considering what happened with that one plane in Kazakhstan recently, was this before or after that accident?
Before. This was a few months ago.
You're not the brightest aren't you
If he died then who uploaded the video???
@frag0638 how does your sarcasm answer his question, duffus?
the crash happened like this week, the video is before he started his journey accross Russia, he even says "there's a direct flight back to Moscow"...
Yeah! Dinnertime, a travel documentary... it's like Christmas all over! 🎅
Dude. Don't ask people about the government in these places.
Seriously 😳!
It's fine, relax
So genuine Tommy! All the best for 2025. You open my heart 💓 😊
The only two travel-junkies I'm subscribed to on YT and they meet up. What a small world. ;)
I am very new to your channel, been watching a few videos and I love them! Having only travelled a bit to SE Asia, America and North Africa, Id love to travel to the 'stans' regions, great people it seems!
I love what you're doing man, please be safe, don't end up in jail
I love that the very nice Kazakhstan lady said she doesn't like China. That lady speaks truth.
In my experiences within the Soviet arena - they're not so stupid on how the World works. Tommy has this urge to get to China, that I really do not understand. But - I'm happy to watch him do it, i guess.
also... getting on a crap Soviet plane...you say "it only takes 40 minutes though" Tommy...it only takes 2 minutes to die in a plane crash 😢
He lived there before. Me as well. I'm not a fan of the government but it is still like a second home to me.
Did the plane crash? You lack credibility
Rugged and beautiful country and very kind and welcoming people in Kyrgyzstan. Thank you for sharing your trip with all of us!
You have to be careful with cheap sunglasses. They probably don't have UV protection. Your eyes dilate and without UV protection more UV light gets inside your eyes. You damage your retina more with cheap sunglasses instead of just not wearing any sunglasses. 😎
100%!!!
I want to write the same 👍 a lot of people make this mistake
Hope you don’t stop and hope you’ve had a good Christmas and happy new year . Hope you complete your journey and does he have a Chanel
Glad to see the Small Brained American collab. Love his content, he deserves a bigger following.
I love your videos, channel.
Be safe. 😊
You dont just stop people in the street as a Western stranger in Central Asia and ask people what they think of their government as your first question with a camera in their face. Etiquette.
Understandable?
Yeah I was like... whoa dude what are you doing??
Tommy, it's a pity your buddy doesn't know better than to ask a rude question question to a stranger but you should have edited it out. I'm from Jamaica, Queens and I know better than that. Shame on you guys.
Yeah... that was pretty cringe. Hopefully he doesn't do that in Xinjiang.
Wonders why he gets arrested.
Tommy, thank you for traveling where most will ever go…safe travels sweetheart ❤❤❤
4:41 Probably I'm the only one, but I miss people cleaning with brooms. It's so quieter and relaxing. Leaf-blowers are noisy and generate clouds of dust.
We need bylaws on them
Both of my favorite UA-camrs together. Great video
Man this is so timely after the Kazakhstan plane crash!
LOVE YOUR content Tommy, as you use your brain and inform us unlike those with their male parts like Kurt Caz!
Seriously though!
This is not Kazakhstan
The car seats 💺 hooked and welded to swinging chairs were awesome. Good idea to look at the beautiful land and sky and comfortable to.
In Hungary we are "kidnapping" our braids too :) It's a funny and lovely tradition. I just thinking about how many of my anchestors (from all of the "hordes" from the Ural-Causasian area) have this tradition nowadays too? Long live the horse-men! 😊
The current nightmare of mating in US of screetching infantile harridans
There was also "kidnapping" in Serbia, but only if the girl agreed to the marriage, but her parents did not agreed.
Serbus poitesh from Tatar
One of the laws Genghis Khan brought in was outlawing bride kidnap practice & brought in many other fair laws . . but went all out the window after his death
The kidnapping thing exist in a lot of countries but thanks to the vice documentary we're getting the flack for it
It's so good to see my favourite youtube folks filming together.
I've followed Bald and Bankrupt for years. Back in January I discovered Small Brained American, and now Bald and Bankrupt collabed with him. Discovered you a couple months ago, and now you collabed with Small Brained American.
Now just waiting for Mike Okay to jump on this train 😂
Still a better experience than Spirit Airlines I'm sure
Spirit aint got shit on air India.

Thanks for the video
Yo! You met up with small brained american! Awesome. You guys and Marco Roams are my favorites.
Sab and SB are the best travel vloggers ❤
"It's like, if milk was a soda" Never has a more horrifying sentence been uttered in the history of language...
Look up Milkis
In the 60s, we had Moola Koola milk soda in Tennessee. 😊
love these collabs.. such a nice surprise...
Sabbatical u got me cracking up 😂😂😂😅
My 2 favorite travelers! You both are awesome!
I met a girl from Kyrgyzstan years ago in Thailand, wowwwwww! She was superb!
Yeah kirgiz are basicaly east asian with more curves. And might have some european features, look eurasian or latina. Depending on the women 😂
@@mathewvanostin7118 Exactly!
Shh...Best kept secret. The Kyrgyzstan women are stunning
@ One of the best, if not the best.
Ah, Thailand😂
Two years ago their consulate in DC was open to guests during the embassy’s open house weekend. I remember the hats, music and free bites. The hospitality was wonderful and I learned a lot about a “Stan” I knew very little about. It was one of the best and i wanted to learn more about this country. Your video has helped me with a on the ground insight. Love your sarcasm BTW
If you say, “don’t crash into the mountain” three times…it’s like Beetlejuice…it will happen! Thank goodness you only muttered it twice
Haha, like Bloody Mary or Candyman.
It was a close shave with old magic unwitting
Great video, very scenic country.
That plant looked like a thistle, the symbol of Scotland.
"You have to get a wife" killed me
speaking the truth
I've been telling myself that the past 5 years, but life gets in the way.
always happy to see your uploads at unexpected times tommy .
The Crossover we needed! You guys are a funny combo together! If you guys could do more in the future please do!
no we didnt. small brained is a clown
