I have a feeling some people will complain about the fake heatsinks, but who cares? This build doesn't need the extra thermal performance and it's cool that they found a cheaper solution that looks good. Half the fun of building these partial enclosure itx pc's is the aesthetics. This is super cool!
Yes that's true. It works for a low end board because you won't be putting high powered components on it anyways. And high end boards already have all the shrouds/heatsinks. So I think it's a good solution :D
Those are the same people that the only thing they built is their resume to hire at mcdonalds. It looks amazing, hope that some day I would have the time and drive to do something similar.
Lol I agree it's a quality build, the heatsinks are a form of fashion, similar to how people fancy up their cars. In reality adding plastic above a heat generating source is increasing a thermal barrier that would be beneficial I'd it were made of aluminum. It's fun to watch, the performance doesn't effect how good this build is
Plastic is a thermal insulator, if the “sinks” were just not helping, that would be one thing, but capping your memory with plastic actually hurts the thermals. That being said, who cares indeed.
@@MechAdv Do you believe the Ram "heatsinks" that are placed only on the edge of the RAM PCB (not touching the chips at all) will hurt the cooling performance of the RAM?
because while it looks good it suffocates the system. This only works because there are no side panels and the main components are on the cheaper side. New processors (even lower end ones) need way better airflow.
This is literally a perfect build, so simple and straight forward. It doesn't have that shoebox look either. I would love to make something like this if I had a 3D printer.
Oh dang, those coverplates are sick! And great use of drybrushing. Awesome build, loving the ITX form factor :) Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
After seening the very first 3d printed heat sink I was at a 0/10. (Edit I missed the large "copper" heat sink somehow and thought it was just a black cover. New rating 9/10 ❤️) Then the "copper" ram heatsinks came in and I was at a 10/10. After the I/O plate and the panel to hide the Motherboard Power cables I was at an 11/10. The GPU brought me all the way to a 12/10. Outstanding visual mods! 👍
Thank you for watching the whole video and providing your detailed feedback. Maybe you could check out my previous builds as well, I think you'll like them 😁
as a itx builder you have to make somethings work so anyone hating is someone who prolly doesnt even like their build lol. all your parts fit clean and thats a nice color
When I saw the fake heatsink I judged you pretty soon, but damn this build looks so damn awesome. Really great work at 3D printing and painting the whole thing. Loved the art work. Hope I will see more like that. That's way more interesting than just someone putting parts together.
Absolutely great video. Really pleasing to watch and it looks great, thank you! (One minus/small criticism, the weird kind of noise coming from time to time, one in left ear and 2 in the right ear)
Thank you! I definitely hear those audio spikes as well. I think the audio file i was using was corrupted as I notice it in the same song of my other video. But now UA-cam has their own free music library which I have been using and the quality is clear. 😁
@@mxcbuilds6633 I'm guessing watching with headphones makes the ''noise'' much more clear, and it just amplified it. I feel bad for even mentioning it, as i did really enjoy the video
@@HardKaw nah dont feel bad I notice it too after rewatching the video. and its a sharp high pitch noise as well. very irritating indeed. But my newer videos shouldnt have this issue. check them out if you havent already, I think you will enjoy them even more :))
You should try some epoxy resin for your design, it looks nice with wood both transparent and tainted. Also a laser engraver would be nice with all that wood surfaces.
Have you considered reversing the cpu fan? The load temps don't look too great for a mere i3. I wonder if instead of pushing hot air towards restricted space, if it pulled the air through the gaps around and pushed the air outside, would the temps be better.
I always wanted to build something similar .Why do we need huge cases with 4-6 fans, when everything can work in a smaller box with no fans at all (except the ones that comes with PSU.GPU and CPU) . My solution to you, make the case a bit bigger so you can use a full size PSU . Great job !
Thank you for a great, satisfying video. Can you make the 3d printed design available for download. Because of this video I have purchased a 3d printer and old pc parts.
if i was nitpicky i would say the only thing i dont like about this videos is the music, maybe go for some ambiental instead this vlog music or no music at all, go full ASMR. great work dude, every build is a work of art!
Thanks! I have done so for one of my previous builds, but it just takes a lot of effort to review and generate the files to a level I'm comfortable to sell. Because of that, selling plans hasn't been my priority. Been focusing my energy on generating new designs and ideas instead.
Mainly because I didn't stain the hardwood frame (just applied 1 layer of wax) so it would have been hard to find a stain that will match the color exactly. And secondly I knew this PC would be hung up on my living room ceiling to use next to the projector so the rear panel will rarely be visible/noticeable
When you guys mod the psu for the noctua instead of plugging it into psu board plug it into the motherboard and set the curve in the bios to optimize it for the noise!
you are so skillful dang new subscriber here. also can I have a suggestion? can you do a old laptop converted to a pc by creating a case for it made in wood.
I guess it's just a purely aesthetic mob, right? because the wood retains too much heat and the electronic components will suffer a lot, especially the MotherBoard at the bottom.
The power supply fan is upside down.... You have it pulling air out, which wouldn't be so much of a problem except that it's an open cabinet, so it's not really doing anything.
@@dopplerganger9750 the fake heatsink is not covering a M.2. Its placed over the chip set heatsink (this board does not have a full m.2 slot in that location, only a wifi card. The money you will need to 3d print (buying a 3d printer) plus the current value of the parts can buy a decent parts IMO.
