@@GadgetsBoy it’s more about the tone than anything else. Don’t you think it’s a bit sus that journalists get flown over, put up in nice hotels and get to spend time with a senior manager responsible for the project? To me, good journalism is objective.
@Cyrus Wakefield you know your so-called subjective journalists get flown to cover exclusive subjects all the time. Brands don't have a say over what you say. This is neither biased nor unbiased, just a simple news piece. This is not an argument, by the way. This is a normal process, especially with exclusive cars like this.

I have to say, the first few seconds with Alex standing beside the Maybach... I don't know if it was done on purpose but the colour balance of the scene, the composition and the tone were amazingly on point.

I agree, there are too many Mercedes logo to remind you this is just a trim level. But then again I personally think the Maybach logo is really ugly, like what a child could draw - history be damned.

Ambient lighting has become a prominent feature in modern cars, superseding the engine as a key selling point. Other than Porsche and Volvo. Not sure why they don't have it. Wish they did.
The ambient lighting idea was first introduced on the 2005 S-Class W221 model series the idea behind it was to provide a more relaxing atmosphere for the driver and passengers and to light up the interior so you would not be driving in a dark car.

I don't think I've ever liked the exterior design of a Maybach, but I think this is their worst. The interior is beautiful as ever but surely there is more rear leg space in the saloon.

Reskinned EQS , Paying $$$ extra for some logos and cosmetic changes sounds insane. They should have increased power by 100hp and range by 50 kms

In 2021 when Maybach presented that red/black car with wonderful headlights, beautiful rearlight, gorgeous seats and spaceship steerwheel I wanted to buy one, but now this car doesn't have anything that the 2021 car has. If Maybach wants to sell that red/black car from 2021 I can buy it for 300k euros. For this car I don't give nothing.
Shame maybach are just a glorified trim level these days rather than a standalone unique platform. They need to go back to their roots for me and go down the coach-build route. You can’t deny the luxury on offer but just missing that stateliness.

This is a nice luxurious suv/minivan for people who want toys and exclusivity but even for that I'd pick a Bentley for example
Yea the engines are at least 70% of what made these cars special. Knowing that it took a lot of work to build that big V12 gave you a sense that the car was special.
I'm really not sure what makes these generic electric powertrains special enough to justify the high cost of this vehicle.
This car is great for us since the tax in the country we’re from is very low for electric cars so instead of getting a GLS we’re getting this since their the same price

Sounded more like an advert that car journalism. The way they talk up some of the features, that are extremely dull/or obnoxiously ostentatious, just because they have their rep there, seems very disingenuous. There may some people who genuinely like the styling and features, but the polite way to phrase it is "contentious" or "polarising", because I'd wager there are a lot of people who don't like it and think it's a waste, myself included.

Looks like they are aiming at Lexus with the vulgarity of the exterior design.
I'm sure the important Chinese market is part of the reason that these designs are moving away from the clean and purer shapes that used to be more prevalent in Europe.

Wow the way they are over selling this thing. There is nothing “HUGE” or ground breaking about this. All that cheap plastic, lower power, old Tech with thick ugly Tablets in back and NO AUTO OPEING AND CLOSING DOORS….what a load of crap😂😂😂
I'm in the UK and, to me when I look when I'm driving, it appears it's mostly South Asians (Indians, Pakistanis etc.) that drive Mercs (and rarely new models).

I can’t get excited about this car. Aesthetically it does nothing for me, not even a chubby. As far as I can tell, they’ve put lipstick on a pig and added some trinkets.

Nah.. I'd pass.. If I had the money.. It would still be a nope, I'd rather go with the proper 'Roller' or Bentley... Don't like the looks of the thing either. And I think Mercedes/Maybach are trying TOO hard with branding everywhere. With a Rolls Royce or Bentley, you DON'T NEED to repeatedly state who you are, you just have the delightful lady on your bonnet/hood, the self righting logos on the wheels and that's pretty much it, Bentley is the same... Maybach? Logo, logo brand, logo, brand, logo and more logos....

I was wondering why Alex Legouix was pronouncing Maybach with a breathy "Bach", instead of the usual "May-back" or "My-back", until I saw the Mercedes snake oil salesman just off camera🐍😂. You knew he was on some BS the moment he started waxing poetic about the tristar logo and the stamped Maybach hood/grill logo.

Lovely luxurious vehicle, but candidly most of the features I would not want. As an example a seat that massages my back?? Would not use it. Is there is a low trim version which is much cheaper?

Sorry, the last brand I'd think of given the look of this - the grill, the tacky plastic chrome trim everywhere. Rolls Royce / Bentley leave this brand standing.
I love Mercedes, I want to own a Mayback someday in my life, but this car looks to much like the EQS SUV, and it's just MEH 😕 it needs presence, masculinity and more straight lines...
It's going to cost well over £200,000 if you look back on other previous Maybach models against their equivalent Mercedes siblings.
And I'm not sure that I'd call the rear seating _classy!_ Chintzy springs to mind.

What a load of BS from the Mercedes sorry Maybach design guy. It looks identical to the standard Mercedes, except it has just been blinged! The nonsense about the Mercedes badge and the Maybach badge and the silver chrome around the door!!!!! As for the interior, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally it looks way too brash to the point where it looks cheap.
