A Shock Drop release is scheduled on November 14th, 2023 at 2:23 pm EST on Nike SNKRS.
This year, Nike, Inc. will treat fans to the Air Jordan 11 “Gratitude” retro, a special edition of Michael Jordan’s “Concord” pair from 1995. As you wait for a release, here’s everything you need to know about the 11s coming out December 2023.
Jordan returned to the Chicago Bulls in March of that year after an 18-month hiatus from the NBA. The story goes that Tinker Hatfield showed the 32-year-old a sample version of his latest Air Jordan design ahead of the 1994-95 NBA Playoffs. Enamored by the sneaker, the Bulls’ now-#45 chose to lace up the pair to face the Orlando Magic against Hatfield’s caution that the pair was not quite ready yet. The sneaker only saw two games as the color scheme (“White/Black/Dark Concord”) did not abide by the league’s regulations. The world would see the shoe again during the 1995-96 season on Jordan’s way to his fourth NBA title.
Retail versions of the sneaker featured “23” on the heel unlike the pair MJ first wore. Priced at $125 USD, the Air Jordan 11 was the line’s marquee offering at the time of its launch. The championship-winning sneaker returned on Oct. 25th, 2000, allowing fans to enjoy the storied pair during MJ’s second retirement from the NBA. A second retail version dropped six years later as part of the “Defining Moments” Pack.
“DMP” vs. “Gratitude”: What’s the Difference?
Two-pair box sets are no longer common practice for Brand Jordan, but they were in the mid-aughts. On Jan. 28th, 2006, Nike, Inc. dropped the “Defining Moments” Pack - often simplified to “DMP” - to commemorate the two shoes Michael Jordan wore at the start of each of his three-peats: the Air Jordan 6 and AJ11. The shoes had previously retrod in their original styles, but the special pack brought “Metallic Gold” finishes to both sneakers, detailing inspired by the Larry O’Brien Trophy. The set was priced at $296 and offered in limited quantities at select retailers.
The Jordan 6 “DMP” returned on April 18th, 2020, 14 years after its debut. Although old and new fans alike received the pair well, the retro begged the question, “When would the ‘DMP’ 11s return?” Back in January, the sneaker world was treated to a rumor that the “Defining Moments” pair would be Holiday 2023’s Jordan 11 release. The news was immediately met with fanfare but sentiments began to change when early looks at the shoe revealed a major difference.

Honestly the leather upper makes these gratitudes better for me.I’m always worried about the white getting stained if something spilled like an alcoholic drink 😂 These new ones will be more carefree,definitely doubling up

@@andrewcastillo3093 oh I definitely waterproof all my sneakers,just like that it has a leather upper now so I don’t have to worry about white material on past releases as much.These you can wipe down and throw new laces on if they get dirty

Bro honestly with the leather upper and gold hits, I think I might be leaning toward the gratitudes. I have so much respect and love for the concord, but if the gratitudes had the ice bottoms, I don't think it would be close.
Gratitudes def the move imo, better quality leather and better fit. I remember the Defining moments, I lined up in queens nyc and a huge brawl broke out with police and they threw chairs through the doors at the mall, basically ruining the chance for any of us that lined up to get any pairs. What a throwback lol
These Gratitudes were executed so well! Concord is one of my favorite pairs of all time but the addition of leather takes these to another level. It’ll be way easier to maintain as time passes
The leather upper on the gratitude joints definitely made me think of the 72 -10s along with the milky outsole. Im not mad at it all all though bc my 72 - 10s outsole has aged pretty well.

I have gratitudes and concords. Love em both. Picked up a pair of gammas too and some 2012 bred 11s (carbon fiber looks so much better on 2012s).
Was so happy to cop a pair on my first ever Nike SNKRS shock drop W. I have the 2016 playoff 11's (space jam's) 2018 Concords and 2019 Breds so adding these were a must. Was surprised that they didn't come with plastic shoe trees since Nike raised their prices. Great video and review!👍

Most people just want to like something that is no longer available more. Bottom line is Gratitude will last much longer. No way in hell should people have wanted mesh again. That mesh turns yellow and it’s over.
How does it fit? Is it tight at toe box like Jubilees?
Concords and DMPs look beautiful and get the history but honestly I feel like the Gratitudes look better. That being said yes I have only started to get into collecting over the last couple of years.

I never liked the white mesh on the 11's. The leather on the gratitudes is how they've should've been originally. The mesh is cheap looking. The leather makes them a better quality sneaker overall

The mesh on the Concords is harder to clean, like the Gratitude more.

The mesh looks way better on the low-cut patent leather, but the leather on graditude and Swede cool grays that came out recently 2022 look good on the high cut pan leather that’s why I don’t have any other mesh high cut pan leather Jordan 11s only the old ones

Of all my kicks the concords are my fav. I personally wear gold (yellow) and not silver or white gold so the gold touches on the concord making dmps just give that extra umph to the fit when I go to events. Dmps look more premium but then concords are just classic man! Can’t go wrong with either if you had to have one. But now I can’t beat my concords as my fav and have something similar fresh with the dmps

I noticed the gratitudes laces have a slight gold tint to them.
In my opinion Gratitude is like the improved version of the concords, compared the mesh to the leather or the gratitude, they are both nice bit materials use separate them 👍

I have both. And I love the concords. I had the OG pair back in 95, I was young wore them to death. had every version of retro concords since. Personally concords are special to me got so many stories and memories of that shoe.
I coped the 2018 Concords, Because it is my only wearable pair, I would only wear them when I know the weather is perfect or when I know I going somewhere indoors and clean. Since I coped them I honestly say i only wore them 4 times because I am always stressed about staining them nylon uppers.... since they announced the Gratitude and i saw it had all leather upper it was an instant cop for me. I have since put my concords back in the box and these gratitude is going to be in my regular rotation simply because they are all leather easy to keep clean.
I doubled up. I have all the J11s and this is my favorite overall!

I just started collecting this year and the concords are one of my grails. It’s the og but I’m lucky I hit on the Gratitude it is my “concord” of my collection. Love my new 11s but Concords are the grail sneaker.

For me, I like the icy bottoms better …. But… after a few wears they don’t look as good. I like how these are already yellowish so they won’t look as worn going forward. That’s my issue with most 11s. I don’t wear them often so expect them to look brand new always. I hate yellowing. I keep them in the box and everything. I have some infrared 6s that I won’t wear because I don’t want them to yellow lol.

I only mess with and have the OG color ways of the 11s/the color ways that Mike wore on court. I got rid of all my 11s except for the Concord, Bred, Space Jams and Cool Grey. Hoping to see another Columbia 11 release with that OG treatment.

Your pair is the first pair that I’ve seen in the Midnight Navy 3’s with the thicker lines in the elephant print. All the ones I’ve seen in stores and online have the really thin lines. Both of my pairs that’s I picked up have the thinner lines which I like the thicker lines in your pair much better.

DMPs or Graditudes > Concords. DMPs - senior year in HS, 18th birthday, 8 hour camp out.. *sighs* these are better though. Just prefer the leather. Double up no brainer. Passed on 2018 concords bc of the 45. I’ll wait for the 23 on the back 🤷♂️

You said the DMP pays homage to the original 11’s but the gratitude’s have the high cut patent leather and jupman facing the same way as the OG’s.
Definitely like these... We had over a 100 pairs at the JD I'm at.. But I still think they are overpriced. They shouldn't be more than $200+tax. With tax they come nearly to $250 that's insane.
Honestly the Gratitudes are killing the Concords IMO. The leather upper, gold hits and milky bottom gives it Royalty vibes and Championship feeling 👑🏆 even the DMP 11s are killing the Concords.

But on a serious note, you're right I just started collecting sneakers a year ago. Believe it or not, I was at a Goodwill. Found 2 J 1s a high top , and a mid. And I chose the mid not having experience 😂 The way I see it is, I have to be realistic as to how much I'm going to spend on a shoe. Also it HAS to be comfortable, and J11s are one of the most comfortable. Being that I don't have the 2018 pair of Concords. The most obvious decision to make it to go for the new gratitude pair for HALF the price of the 2018 pair. Also, the leather upper is just so much better IMO; might even make them comfier.
I feel I can't wear 11s casually.. either its look more of basketball ball shoes or its too elegant too wear casually...but damn its looks really beautiful

Even if they did come with the DMP 11s again, they would have been a high cut im pretty sure, so not the same. I prefer the high cut myself.
The leather upper is the best than the nylon. Nylon gets yellowish in time.

The gratitudes are a better shoe. The DMPs more nostalgic. The DMPs don't have as much attention to detail. The sneaker cut was a lazy attempt, it started the low cut patent leather on 11s. It had the jumpman issue. The materials on the DMPs aren't great. But the DMPs are the DMPs. That packaging is top 5 maybe 2 of all time.
You also gotta remember designer and the team didn't know nearly as much as they do in current time. Also there weren't "packs" or collabs that were coming out to the public like there are in current time. Those waled so these could run.
If you like the OG you’ll go with the mesh. If your still a fas of jordan’s your gonna love them gratitude!!!!!
Resellers like the concords because of money you get for em these will surpass that over time you won’t see these gratitudes every 3/5 yrs retro-ed the concords you’ll see at least 4 more times in next 10yrs.
