Im so happy he had you as a close friend..i think he needed more love and less lonelyness..im also glad he was found by you..someone that loved him..those that say he was self centered do not know that kind of pain it is like no other..you think others would b better off without you...b kind.
the very first thing that came to mind was how will Eric Ripert handle this news.....only to learn it was he that found him... I can not even imagine how hard this must be on him!
I thought the same thing. I bet he cries a little bit every day... just like me. When Bourdain died, it felt like a close friend died. I think a lot of people feel the same way.
I saw a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20 year at a liquor store in suburban Los Angeles where I’m from. When I asked what it cost the guy said it was $3,500 before sales tax. It’s not just Anthony Bourdain that popularized it but another reason it’s so expensive is because several barrels of it were stolen from Buffalo Trace in the early 2010’s. After some of it was recovered it was destroyed by the distillery because they didn’t want to be held accountable for selling liquor that might have been tainted.
let me preface by saying i've watched basically every episode of no reservations, most of cook's tour and all of layover and parts unknown. that being said i can take or leave him as a person depending on the day. but does anyone else get how much of a hypocrite he is with this paula deen shit? have i watched her show? sure. do i care it got cancelled? nope. but he has blasted her for years for the mountain of garbage she cooks on her show going on and on about how bad it is and she's evil..
and all the while he's made a living eating huge amounts of pork, guzzling beer and alcohol like it was going out of style, and choking down endless cigarettes for the world's viewing pleasure. anyone see the disconnect here? say what you want about paula deen's credibility and contribution to the obese nation we have become but just cause you cloak your show in sarcasm and witty dialogue doesn't make you any less guilty.
I love and admire both of them!! Eccentric, unique, intriguing and exceptional duo!!!! RIP Anthony, am sure Eric is also sad as we are!! 😭
Claude White

I thought that right away. I cannot even imagine.
My sincere sympathies to Eric....I feel for him!
Chef Ripert, I am so sorry for your loss.
Amazing the line when he says..its Like asking if the prostitute loves you..No she'll never love you! And she never did love him.
Can't believe he is gone

Watched Tony since Travel Channel. Stunned over his death. I loved The Taste and wished it had continued.
I can not even imagine what Eric must be feeling after finding Tony hanging in that hotel bathroom. So sad.
Yeah ur right. Seeing ur best friend died. So painful
He always cooked Portuguese seafood stew. Always
I think that's all he could cook.
