Be aware that the VNSH holster doesn't work if you have a light on your firearm. One of my daily carry firearms is a Glock 48 with a tiny TLR6 and it wont fit. I would assume, but dont know firsthand, it wouldn't support an optic either.

Will you adjust the trigger weight and test it again? I think if you turn it way down you will like that Acutrigger a lot more.

I bought a Savage 110 Tactical in 308,Developed a load with Hornady 150 gr. STT. It's shooting 1/4'' or less at 100yards.First thing I did was polished the bolt etc. Smooth as silk now. It is not one you would want to carry all day. It weighs 14lb.now.I was able to take two deer this season 240yards.No complaints ,just heavy as hell....

You have a Savage of any model, check the bore. About three years ago I purchased a Savage 110 Tactical in 308W, and I went through the necessary steps prior to range day. Range day came and completed back a home bore inspection with a Teslong bore scope, the barrel was a piece of crap - chattering through the bore, it is a barrel that should not have left the factory. Barrel replacement Criterion barrel.

It is the sloppiness of the bolt and the movement up and down that is causing some feeding problems. PTG makes an aftermarket Savage bolt body that may improve the feeding issue. The same with my 110.

The infamous Savage 110 vs ..... There is a reason the 110 has been in production for so long, the oldest in current production. Savage makes rifles that just shoot extremely well!! They are not a Ferrari but a Mustang! They are cost effective and worth every penny spent! They are not butter smooth but a little rough but who needs smooth when your lights are out ;)

@@mohsenraghian210yeaaaah so I work in a gun shop and mess with all of these guys and I'm just not seeing it. The Ruger action is stiffer and has a scratchyness to it. We have ruger Americans just sitting in limbo. People are buying up the 110s or they are buying up Begaras and Brownings if they have more money. That's what I'm personally seeing at my gun shop. We sell Savages at a 5 or 6 to 1 ratio of the Ruger Americans. The other hard sells for us are Ruger Mini 14s and 30s. People pass them right by for the AKs and ARs. GP100s get passed over for S&W and Colts too. We do sell a few PC Carbines, Wranglers, and LCR/Xs though. We also once in a blue moon sell 10/22s too. But most people are sticking other options these days.

My Savage 110 270 loves Federal Vital shock 130s a tack driver. My 110 Timberline 7mm love Hornady 168 ELDx. Both have zero issues feeding, I my self have zero issue with bolt release. Once you've done it couple times and no brainer. I didn't have any issue finding rail for my Timberline issue was choosing maker. As far as trigger once adjusted at break is crisp and done. The feeding hitch that a LOT of savages have is the case head hanging up on the ejector. Some have had luck polishing/radiusing the face of the ejector. But it will also smooth out the more you shoot it.

My howa did this exact same thing on the pull and push of the bolt. When I pulled the brass out, it had some scratches down the side. I just wrapped some 2000 grit sand paper around an empty case and slid it into the chamber a couple of times, until the burr was gone. Might be the issue with this rifle, although 7PRC has a pretty steep neck, so that might be the problem too.

Looks like a lot of gun for the money. Savage rifles are shooters I've owned several. At least this model has the top bolt release instead of the bottom bolt release in front of the trigger guard. Timney triggers for the pre accutrigger savage have a provision for an adjjustable overtravel stop whereas the accutrigger savages (and the Timney accutrigger replacement) do not have an overtravel stop. Since this model has a top bolt release you can use the old style pre accutrigger Timney trigger, which is by far the best trigger I've used in a savage. Absolute night and day difference.

Great review. I own Ruger's and Savage rifles and am happy with both. They are budget and shoot well especially when handloading for them. I do prefer a heavier contoured barrel compared to skinny barrels. There is a lot to be said on barrel flex. Skinnier barrels are more finnicky and groups can be more erratic being much larger when things are not just right. I do have a real skinny barrel in a Mossberg Predator, and it is very erratic and finnicky. It can shoot real tight groups if the tolerances are super tight, and the load is right so long as you don't get the barrel hot. But I bought it for a light hunting rifle and that is not a problem. It is the nature of the beast. It's not a bench gun.

Once the barrel cooled down or you put enough pressure to eject the fired round the bolt action just fine. When comparing groups, most people use something like you mentioned, an average of 3 shot groups. The downside of this is that you need to make a lot of shots, and only the outer two bullet holes contribute to the measurement. There is another method called "radial standard deviation" which uses all shot holes and needs much fewer shots. Also it takes into account differences in the number of shots in the groups - if you have one target with 3 shot holes, and another with six shot holes, you can still compare between the two. Information about this method can be found from the booklet, "Statistical Measures of Accuracy for Riflemen and Missile Engineers" by Frank E. Grubbs

EGW offers the Savage pic rails, you need to get a kit they offer that comes with the appropriate drill bit to drill out the mounting holes and a set of 8-40 screws......

Also Savage should address their feeding problems, it's ridiculous. They almost always shoot lights out, but they are basically single shots that store more rounds near by LOL

I have some rifles where the Federal Premium shoots the best. It was a welcome accuracy. It wasn’t like the rifle shot poorly with the other ammo, but the Federal Premium was just that much better.
I have thought about it a bit and I think the thicker barrel has a smaller deflection during the firing event. It’s a reduced whip scenario in my current theory.
I had a friend who has a 25-06 in this rifle. He couldn’t get it to group and asked me to see what I could do with it. It turned out that they had mounted the scope with a pair of Weaver rails. The front one was cantilevered over the opening for the action, which is large for the 30-06 cartridge length. I put a full pic rail on it and the rifle shot about a 1.25 MOA group with the ammo he supplied. He was very happy. My best group prior to the pic rail swap was about 4.5”!

I’m on the fence about the 7prc but I was thinking of this rifle or the gen2 Ruger. I just with someone offered a round for it that wasn’t the eldx or loaded with the eldx. I know folks have had great success with the eldx in different calibers but I’ve had horrible results on deer with them. I know Remington brought out the CUT ammo but don’t know how I feel about an all copper round either. As usual love the video!

Just watch him Boresight and Sight in a rifle---- It's PAINFUL!!!! Apparently does not listen to advice either. Likeable guy and most of the time, I like watching his videos. Not listening to him on firearm buying 5hough. YOU on the other hand are very knowledgeable and always GREAT TO WATCH.

When I’ve seen feeding issues similar to you but I believe this was caused by the rim of the case forcing under the extractor claw. Try running the bolt a bit harder to see if it straightens out your issues.
All that being said, I agree. My new ruger American in 6.5cm is excellent. Consistently shooting 143eldx and 140 eldm around 0.3moa with handloads. The 140 noslers aren’t as accurate but load development just started!

Had a browning a bolt with a heavy target barrel that I couldn’t personally shoot worth a crap. I found it to be a balance issue, with the butt end being way too light relative to the barrel end. With a Hogue stock and heavy barrel, I bet this rifle balances well.

After owning a BMAG .17WSM its going to be tough to invest in another Savage.
From needing more than 40 MOA of elevation adjustment on the scope just to get it to zero on target, to the magazines themselves refusing to operate reliably without jamming. I had originally bought one used from someone that had the same issue with the scope - not enough adjustment in the scope to get on target. Couldn't get it working to sold it and bought a brand new one with the exact same issue.
Even a Vortex PST II with 70 MOA of adjustment was shooting almost 2 inches low at 100 yards with the scope elevation maxed out.
IMO the BMAG series is so bad it should never have left the shop.. and its put me off the Savage brand permanently.
