You really like bananananananananas. Never seen the brass plating done that way it was cool. The etching took a bit but it turned out good in the end. Thank you
This came out amazing! Big fan of hot brassing and I really like the shape of the handle too. You're always giving me ideas for the future, I really love your work.
Thank you! Much appreciated, Restoring is fun. I you like it you will get much better as time goes on. Looks like you already have quite a few restorations under your belt!
I love the artistic ability you show in your work. I’m new to this, and have a question. Does the epoxy inlay make the handle stronger, does it cause a weak point, or does it not effect it at all? Again, I love your work, and would like to do something similar someday.
Dang. Having serious table saw envy, though I was glad to see you didn’t use it on your nanner 😄. Absolutely love the ax. Even Thor would covet that one!
I dont know if youve seen them but the jobsmart siphon gun from tractor supply is amazing. I used the same HF gun for a year and it was like night and day. The siphon gun is so much faster to use.
My experience is the rust clogs up my flap discs for some reason. I can use a brand new 40 grit flap disc and the rust will cake on there in minutes and make it unusable. Not sure why that happens but I just find it easier to sandblast it first that way I can save my flap discs.
@@BMSculptures Lol Used to powerlift then worked at a gym for a while. That being said, I was never good at guess weight. I was decent at guessing height.
“Protection is a key to me”, but I used a sandblasted without gloves (?). Really? Good work, but keep your hands protected! Some kids will try to use the sandblasted without gloves.
Thank you! Yeah If I were to do this again that is exactly what I would have done. Unless I can find a way to etch the brass. It would be amazing if I could leave a polished steel background for my brass design. That is my end goal!
How hot do you have to get the metal so you can get that brass look with the brass brush. I tried it and no go. The metal turned a different color with the heat..
Those compass miter gauges are interesting. Stock gauges are crap.. generally. They move a lot giving massive room for error. The one I have that came with my saw moves up to a millimeter no matter how tight I get it. Though to be completely fair, I'm an absolute beginner at wood working of any kind.
Check out my 'Metal etching' video. I go over everything needed to metal etch... I could not do my typical salt water metal etching on this because the brass would not react with it.
Unfortunately you forgot to mention, that the most important thing, when you are doing sandblasting this way and next to your own house, is, to keep all windows open as a kind of surprise for the wife and kids. 🤔
i have a question for everyone, does anyone have an idea how i could Brass only very specific spots of an axe? like how can i seperate the different parts of a drawing? i was thinking lackquer but that would probably come off as soon as i go in with the brass...or start to burn as i heat it up? i dunno, help would be appreciated. Thank you
BEAUTIFUL !!!
Super! Looks like a Viking original!
Blakey, Thor the lord of thunder ⚡ likes this axe!
Gorgeous!!
That looks wicked
Amazing and great work
The inlay on the handle looks so good and to repeat the design on the axe head is a real nice touch. Great work 👍😊
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

You are welcome BMS
Sweet table saw
Thanks. Just got it and couldn't be happier.
I love the inlay, but i wish it was the same color of the brass. That would make it perfect
this looks amazing!! the contrast in the wood and how it connected to the axe was something else!
Thank you Jade!
I like it!
I love deep etches, the super deep ones look really good
Thank you!
Dang! Didn’t know how that inlay would turn out under the epoxy but it looks fantastic! I really appreciate your creativity in your designs
Thank you Mason! I didn't know how it was going to look either lol. Just kind of winged it and it worked for the most part
This came out amazing! Big fan of hot brassing and I really like the shape of the handle too. You're always giving me ideas for the future, I really love your work.
Awesome! Thank you!
Amazing job awesome restore congratulations my friend
Thank you very much!
The banana part was my deciding factor on whether or not to subscribe.
uh oh. which direction did the banana take you?
Lol the humorous direction. That is pretty awesome stuff though! (The etching not the banana thing) I’m going to try it on a hatchet of mine today.
@@shanermac haha awesome! GOOD LUCK!

Yup I will definitely do that next time

I will check it out. This one gets particles stuck in it all the time.
Why sandblast before grinding? Genuinely curious what the benefit is.. I've never used a sandblaster but it seems like an awesome tool.

@@BMSculptures ohh gotcha.. thanks for the response!
@8:28 haha i see what you did there.
Nice wallhanger! Don't use it on any hardwood though, that double bit won't tickle on the rebound.
Thanks!
"Protection is important" *holds axe with bare hand while using the sand blaster
hahaha who needs hands?
You're 6'5" 220 pounds of solid muscle.. and a banana fills you half way ? HAHA! That whole bit was hilarious.
haha pretty damn good specs on the height &weight guessing there. Do you work at the carnival on your spare time? hahaha

@@BMSculptures Though, to be fair, you never guess right on a woman's weight anyway. I was always... considerably low.
nice work! i like your style. will do wonders in the coming zombie apocalypse.

Good work, but keep your hands protected! Some kids will try to use the sandblasted without gloves.
What if you were to etch the axe first then added the brass?
That really came out looking fantastic. Once again, great video!

This is so cool. Ya ever think about making a baseball bat with designs?
… 🤪… the famous banana 😂

yeah agreed. This is by far the beefiest, most precise gauge I have seen or used.
Hi, instead of using acid. Could it be done with the salt method, the water and the 9v battery?
Check out my 'Metal etching' video. I go over everything needed to metal etch... I could not do my typical salt water metal etching on this because the brass would not react with it.

Just wanted to let you know that the link to your Face shield/ mask (I love this thing!) does not exist. I love your etchings.
Let me fix that

Where o where did you get that nifty sandblaster attachment
Unfortunately you forgot to mention, that the most important thing, when you are doing sandblasting this way and next to your own house, is, to keep all windows open as a kind of surprise for the wife and kids. 🤔
hahahahaha that is great

I also want to know this. I actually wanted to do that originally in this piece, but could not think of a way. HELP
Don't heat up axe like he did. You will ruin the temper and the Axe will be useless.
The link for the mask isn't working,im just curious ball park, how much it was?
Try it now. Just fixed it.
