It was such a valuable - and fun! - conversation, thank you so much for having me Coach Mande, and everyone following the show! 🥰 PS: For accuracy of information, I adapted the 4 types of procrastination from the book which Dr. Levrini (Succeeding with adult ADHD) classifies into 5 types.
It really was and your art for this and the podcast came out so cute. I'm not sure if we have the Instagram stuff done yet but when we do I'll share that with you too as well as tag you. Thank you for coming on.
@@learntothrivewithadhd it really did! You and your team are creating masterpieces around here bringing so many quality guests. I always learn something new from the episodes I’m listening/watching. I can’t wait to see more of your impactful work, Mande!
hi Mande and Mariana - what a relevant title/topic! as an ND the borders etc use up a lot of space that would be best used for more face space; are u happy to reflect/change this pls? :) + 2. can the camera be at eye level too- not from above? - pls accept this as feed-forward not feed-backhandedness, no! :DD
Here is my thing: I wake up, patter around a bit. then look at my guitar. Then I start to think of ideas in my mind for a new song. Then I look at the guitar some more. Carry on with the day, Look at the guitar. Start to feel bad about not being able to sit and focus so I can write. Look at the guitar. Finally, I sit down, Break out the pen and notebook and recorder, set it all up. Pick up guitar, PLay a few chords, my mind is telling me I am wasting my time doing this. I get frustrated and depressed. Place guitar down. Carry on with the day. Rinse and Repeat. It is so horribly frustrating to not be able to enjoy something that is more important to me than anything else. I am now sober for months and it is very hard because I used substances to facilitate creative sessions my whole life. As a teenager I would just pick up the guitar and play, not worry about being insecure, too loud.I was sober and young. Can one ever get back to that purity of creative drive and execution even with a focus and concentration so fractured by our own insecurities and self doubt?
The first thing you are describing has a name. I call it pinballing because we feel like a ball in a pinball machine but it has an official name that has left my brain right now. If it comes to me I'll come back and comment it. Second it's really doing the mindwork. I have an ADHD self coaching series that will be free coming that will really help you sort out the thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back. Your music is a gift even if only for you.
@@richardwilsonavena if you aren't on the email list yet feel free to do that on the website www.learntothrivewithadhd.com because it will go out to my email list before it hits UA-cam. Take care.
@@learntothrivewithadhd I just signed up! I am currently on what I think is probably the worse adhd med I have ever taken called qelbree. The side effects are awful, so I am more than happy to start to learn how to live my deficits from a wholistic way!
I struggle to absorb information and that's in any environment from a workplace to sitting at home reading about something, I can get the jist of it but can't remember much minutes later without it being pretty vague in detail. What am I thinking at this time? "Nothing" my mind is blank but I can't absorb it ?
Are you inattentive ADHD? I wonder if you are drifting while reading. I would suggest moving while you read. Bounce lighting on a trampoline, walk (safely), ride a stationary bike. Even fidgeting can help.

Absolutely. I requested the editor make this change. I think it's a good point and a great idea. Thank you for making the suggestion.
