I know a lot of legends fans think the sequels should have been adaptions of the Thrawn Trilogy or the Yuuzhan Vong War, but personally I think an adaption of the Second Galactic Civil War would have been best

It would have been in some ways a remake of the prequels which is actually a great idea. The prequels is the kind of thing you should remake. Not things that are already great. You should remake stuff that have great ideas and/or good elements but failed for one reason or another.

Getting married on a Super Star Destroyer is one of the single most badass things I have ever heard come out of anything Star Wars.
This was an incredible story, especially compared to the sequel trilogy. And Jacen's fall was something truly heartbreaking, to know how it was his empathetic heart and desire for a better future that turned him into something evil. He reminds me of Thanos in a way, and his downfall is somewhat Shakespearean.
Jacen is a well written character. I'd say he surpasses his grandfather.

yep, to me it is one of the most tragic episodes of the entire "legends"...
A x-wing squadron lead by Wedge, including a number of ex- rogue squadron pilots and jedi end up in a dogfight against the current GA rogue squadron. Characters that use to be the good guys killing each other... so tragic.
This series should’ve been the inspiration for the Sequels imo. Jaina vs Jacen would have mirrored Luke vs Vader in ROTJ perfectly

I wanted sequels to be about imperial remnant timeline. But that's me. With Luke making the new jedi order, Thrawn, Luke romancing Jade after a couple cool fights with her (and she is an assassin with a purple saber trained by Palps with Dooku style lightning and force choke), and the Liberation of Coruscant.
@@billclark5055 I understand that it is hard to read book for some people, especially as there are no excuse now as evil'o'Disney rereleased most important books as the Legends. But the problem wasn't that they didn't canonized Expanded Universe (for reminder it never was actually canon). Problem is that sequels were rushed and lore team lack competences to actually plan franchise (especially on level of the movies) relying on good will of the creators. Repeating same mistakes as made with prequels and also in old EU sometimes, make moving from them pointless.
It was the Galactic Civil War that happened after the FIRST Galactic Civil War but before the THIRD Galactic Civil War.
Oh you mean the clone wars? Or the ancient republics sith wars? If clone first I don't even count that since it was one puppet working both sides into his power structure. But I guess thats semantics.

It is the official name of the war, a lot like The Great War is World War One despite not being the first world war. The Seven Year War certainly qualify as such an event. Its just a name, not 100% accurate.

I actually think a proper video about the Confederation would be pretty cool. Not only did major worlds like Corellia, Bespin, Fondor, Jabiim, and Bothawui split off, but Hutt Space and the Corporate Sector joined up as well. I think a video analyzing their fleet and/or their politics would be really cool since they don't see too much love either.

Finished the books for the second galactic civil war about a year ago. Very good series I would highly recommend but make sure you read the Yuuzhan Vong books first to fully understand what's happening :)
It also helps to do the Dark Nest Crisis too after the Yuuzhan Vong books.
@@NubyPlaysGaming Heck, before you read the Yuuzhan Vong Books, it helps to read the Dark Empire stuff, then the Thrawn Trilogy. Once you have all the main book series done, then you move off into side stories, like the lost tribe of the sith.
Legacy Of The Force was my first dive into the old EU back in the day, and it managed to draw me in despite having no knowledge of prior post-ROTJ events.
That being said, I'm pretty sure I had some extensive Wookieepedia binges to make sense of it all, and I totally wish I'd read the earlier story arcs first

I know it is 3 years later and I am assuming you've read the legacy comics. If you haven't, do check it out. It's a continuation after Crucible which takes place after FOTJ. It also has Yuuzhan Vong.

If i remember correctly, one reason Jasen Solo decided to become a sith was to avoid an even worse future that he saw.
To avoid killing Luke yeah but then he ends up trying to kill Luke. It seems like a controversy until you realize the dark side corrupts you and what you attempt to achieve with it instead will pervert you to achieve its goal.
I appreciate you telling the masses about how Star Wars should have been. Caedus was a grimy dude. Mara Jade didn't deserve that.

Thanks for uploading this. I only got into the Star wars franchise in the mid 2000s as a kid back in Nigeria and after disney has effectively ruined it, I decided to start getting pre-disney era star wars like the Clone wars show and the EU novels. I already got the Thrawn trilogy, The Bane trilogy, the OG and prequel novelizations, Tarkin and Sidious novels. Someone recommended Legacy of the Force series and I just ordered them via amazon. Cannot wait!

Dunno. It was never really clarified. After the "Legacy of the Jedi" era, it skips to 130 ABY where all of the previous characters (except R2D2 and C-3PO) are all dead.

Top TVGames Stuff nah but when was enough enough? They fought a civil war for damn near 20 years then dealt with being invaded then his own nephew kills his wife and starts a second civil war. After this they gotta deal with Abeloth and in the meantime they dealt with the dark meat crisis and black fleet.
The XJ variants of the X wing gives me an idea to create newer variants:
T-75 X wing: Rebel starfighter with a T-65 body and intakes, but the wings are from the T-70. Serviced with the Cornelian Remnant, Confederation, and Miyamoto Allegiance.
T-90 X wing: A perfect fighter for the second Galactic civil war. The hybrid is made with the T-65 body, XJ intakes, and T-70 Wings. Serviced with the Miyamoto Allegiance.
Great video! I really enjoy these types of legends explanation videos. Despite having read some of the legends books and comics, there are so many other stories that I want to enjoy, but I genuinely do not know where to start because the lore is just so huge. Just a suggestion, would you consider doing a longer-style video where you give an overview on the entire legends timeline (or at least the core parts of it). IDK if you have one of these already, but you are my fav star wars UA-camr and you explore legends in such a way that it is easy and enjoyable to understand. Keep up the great work!

I know I'm not Eck, so I apologize for intruding 😅. Your question grabbed my interest because I read the complete series, which I highly recommend.
Now, the story actually starts with the aftermath of a war that was fought off-panel, leading directly into the main conflict of the series. The backstory behind it is mostly mentioned in passing or explained through flashbacks.
And you don't need to read the "Legacy of the Force" and "Fate of the Jedi" novels to understand the comics, since those stories are unrelated to this one.
The conflict traces back to 126 ABY, almost a century after the Yuuzhan Vong War. By this time, the galaxy had enjoyed decades of peace under the Galactic Alliance and the Fel Empire, with the Sith believed to be extinct once again.
However, the Yuuzhan Vong were still immensely hated by the rest of the galaxy for what their ancestors did a century earlier, despite having lived peacefully in exile in the Unknown Regions ever since then.
This prompted Kol Skywalker and a Vong scientist called Nei Rin to conduct the Ossus Project. Its purpose was to use the Vongs' terraforming techniques to heal and revive over 100 worlds across the galaxy that had been left uninhabitable during the Yuuzhan Vong War, hoping to permanently end problems such as hunger and war. Fully supported by the Jedi Order, the Vong would redeem themselves and repair their relations with the rest of the galaxy.
The project was initially a succes, as Ossus was completely restored to vibrant life. But soon after that, the vegetation on all the other terraformed planets underwent horrifying mutations, unleashing the outbreak of a plague that caused painful bony growths to sprout from the skin of the natives, bringing the project to a catastrophic end. Since the virus only affected people who were not force-sensitive, the Fel Empire accused the Yuuzhan Vong of attempting to devastate the galaxy once again.
The Jedi insisted that the the Vong were innocent and that the project must have been sabotaged by another party, since none of the preliminary experiments under the Vong's supervision on Ossus showed any mutations. They convinced the Galactic Alliance to support the Vong against bigotry and unbiased domestic criticism, which angered many member worlds that eventually delared their neutrality.
The Moff Council within the Fel Empire saw this as the perfect opportunity to restore the Empire to primacy as the dominant galactic power, declaring war on the Galactic Alliance in 127 ABY.
From the beginning of the Sith-Imperial War, the GA's defense of the Yuuzhan Vong had alienated many member worlds that still nursed bitter memories of the Vong invasion, with many of them refusing to support the cause. The Fel Empire used this to its advantage, luring some of these disaffected worlds into the Imperial camp and weakening the entire Alliance government. But Emperor Roan Fel himself was less than enthusiastic; he'd only reluctantly declared war and never threw his full support behind it. He even forbade his Imperial Knights from participating.
In 128 ABY, the One Sith finally revealed themselves to the galaxy, approaching the Fel Empire and allying themselves with them due to Emperor Roan Fel forbidding his Imperial Knights to fight. The Jedi immediately knew that the Sith were behind the sabotage of the Ossus Project, but they weren't able to prove it in time to stop the war.
Roan Fel personally hated the Sith, but was overruled in his objections to allying with them by the Moff Council, as no Emperor had absolute power since the days of Palpatine.
After 3 years of war, the Galactic Alliance was so weakened that it surrendered at the battle of Caamas and its holdings were absorbed into the Empire, leaving Coruscant defenseless for the Sith to retake and assault the Jedi Temple.
Emperor Roan Fel called on the Jedi Order to surrender and submit to the Empire, with some of them obliging and becoming Imperial Knights.
But the rest, remaining true to the will of the Force, refused to ally themselves with the Sith and withdrew from Coruscant to their praxeum on Ossus. But despite Roan Fel ordering the Sith to leave the Jedi alone, the Sith followed them there anyway, massacring the Jedi with a surprise attack in the middle of the night. Luckily, the Sith made the mistake of attacking too prematurely, as half of the Jedi Order had not yet arrived to Ossus at the time, which alerted them of the danger and gave them the chance to survive and go into hiding.
Shortly after, the One Sith launched a revolt to assassinate Emperor Roan Fel and his Imperial Knights in order to rule the galaxy themselves. After killing what he later determined to have been a double, Darth Krayt ascended to the Imperial throne himself. Opposition to Krayt's Empire continued in the form of a rival Imperial faction that remained loyal to Roan Fel and the GA Remnant, which operated from portions of the Alliance that hadn't yet been subdued.

Now, when searching the Legacy comics, keep in mind that the story starts with Legacy (2006), continues in Legacy: War, and ends with Legacy (2013).

@@EckhartsLadder don't worry I was already spoiled on all the books years ago I just never got the chance to get to read it yet. I grew up reading all of the bantam era and starting of the del rey books, the EU is my personal canon. But learning about the chronology in the essential guides and reading the series still fill me with excitement as to how the actual story plays out. I enjoy you videos and your analysis of the EU so thanks for keeping all that up.
p.s. I have read a select few of the new canon novels and as long as they don't mess up my head canon and are good stories then I'm ok.
p.p.s - Bloodline and Lost Stars were still pretty good though.

It would have happened anyway, just not as early. It seemed to be a cyclical thing if I recall, where the Ones would continuously trap her in the Maw again.
So if anything, Jacen unknowingly saved the galaxy by having her escape while Luke was still around to stop her

Hey Eck I'm not a huge reader but I'm loving this style lore video with lots details. ... I never read the legacy books, but I'm trying to stay up with some of the new canon ones. I probably won't get to the legacy books maybe the Thrawn trilogy, but that is it ... unless I read thrawn and get hooked. I would love to see more vids like this!

Edit: I watched rise of Skywalker and saw the "death" of Chewbacca and couldn't help saying "great now he's dead in both" a bit too loudly lol

@@michaelandreipalon359 the worst part is (at least if legends was partly correct) chewie failed his life debt to: han, leia, luke, and ben. That is the worst thing that could possibly happen to him

@@ryanranga8484 yeah but in legends he extended the life debt to luke/leia, then obviously their kids. I'm saying if it's the same in canon, then he failed all of them and is now protecting someone not even a part of the solo/skywalker family
Nice vid mate, but can you do a video on how ships lost their shields and the technicalities of it? E.g the process, how to regain shields, what affected them most, what damaged them most, etc

The Fel Empire is basically an Enlightened Autocracy, whereas the Galatic Empire was a Despotic Tyranny.

@@pranksterboy8371 so the comics of the war are the called ‘Star Wars: invasion’ by dark horse then the books are called the new Jedi order series and the first one doesn’t have anything to do with the vong so the war starts in the book called the new Jedi order: vector prime. And then if you’re interested in the bounty hunter and Jedi cade skywalker and his fight with the sith and what is left of the yuuzhon vong plague and weaponry then you’ll find those in the ‘legacy’ comic series. I listen to the books on audible and they are also for sale at Barnes and noble

We need to advocate for a continuation of legacy. Legends Imperial Remnant Era, Yuzzhan Vong war, Second Galactic Civil War, the Second Galactic Civil War, Star Wars Legacy, Star Wars Legacy 2 (extended with info on Talon's death trying to get revenge on Cade, Makadi dying in a fight with Krieg during the battle of the Floating Worlds on the ground, Nihl dying as his capital ship is shot down during the Battle of the Floating World, Darth Havok being hunted down by Shado), need to all be covered by legends TV shows and video games. Disney can still do it and they likely will of we demand it because Disney loves $$$. Only catch is Corona pandemic needs to end so we have money to buy the video games and watch the shows.

The Second Imperial Civil War was raged between The Jedi , Galactic Alliance Remnant with Fel’s Empire in Exile against Darth Krayt’s Galactic Empire. So first was the Sith Imperial War and then the Second Imperial Civil War.
