    I have really learned a lot from watching your videos. I started a job at lowes and really struggled answering questions customers had. Your videos are a huge help and I am very thankful, Mr. Hardware.

    I came across this video last night while looking for solutions for the drafty windows in the house I'm renting. I had never heard of Rope Caulking and immediately ran out to buy a couple of rolls after watching your video. The kitchen windows got done first. It was quick and easy to do and I can already feel the difference! I will need a few more rolls to get the rest of the house done. Thank you so much for making this video!

    I use Mortite to seal speakers to their cabinets instead of expensive custom gaskets or tape. Oft times the gaskets will be $20 each. Many speaker system need to be airtight to function in their design. And I have enough Mortite remaining to stop the draft coming through my kitchen bay window. Win win!

    Hi Blair!
    You may be the ONLY person who has addressed my issue.
    Remodeling a 60s ranch and everyone’s passing the buck.
    Got a bay window- the “side windows” were replaced maybe 10 years ago but the main front piece is original. And I have leaks.
    The individual panes are properly glazed but the seal around the entire window reminds me of the rubber seals found in a screen door. Except it’s very dry and cracked.
    It doesn’t make sense to me to just apply a bead of silicone on top of the cracked “rubber”. Could this be your caulk rope?
    Most important question should I take the old rope off and run a new bead? Or would that be screwing up?
    I would be glad to email you a photo to properly explain what I’m talking about.
    Thanks again‼️👍

      @@Bamaboompa if there are leaks or moisture inside the thermopane it’s dead. If it’s water leaking through the seals into the house, cleaning and siliconing the exterior where the glass meets the sash or frame would be my plan of action. Send pics to blair@mrhardware.com and I’ll take a look.

    In my home some bead board was installed , however it was installed incorrectly. It was supposed to be suspend 1/2 inch off the floor, but was installed sitting in the floor. That means I will have trouble, if I mop around the base boards. I want to know if I can put down this rope caulk, as a sealer & then remove the rope caulk, when the deep cleaning is complete. Thanks

      This self adhesive seal is easy. Be sure to wipe the door frame w/a damp cloth so the surface is clean. It’s v-seal.

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  3 роки тому +1

      Wow, trick question for Mr. Hardware. I believe some bugs, wasps and bees, can and will eat through dried caulking to form a nest... however I bet the rope caulk will stop most of them. If there is no crevice to hide in they will move on.

    You make and look like it’s easy. I’m 67, recently lost my hubby of 47 years. I’ve already put a drill bit through my finger out the other side, sliced by finger open with a box cutter, had to get the base of my finger injected (trigger finger) fell off a 2 step ladder twice plus a bunch of other boo boos and mistakes. How do you get it to stick in one place as your putting it on. I don’t have the strength to push it down hard. Can I use a putty knife or gorilla glue? It’s for the baseball windows which were never opened in over 44 years and I don’t plan on opening them. I don’t know if you know this answer but the lever to flush the toilet works hard, you have to really push it down. Thanks

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  3 роки тому +2

      Use all purpose squeeze caulk to seal the windows. A fresh tube will squeeze out easier than toothpaste. The flush valve gasket in your toilet is getting old and it becomes sticky. Take a picture of it to a reputable hardware or plumbing supply and get the replacement and hopefully a lesson on changing.

    • @shelley2726
      @shelley2726 3 роки тому +1

      @@MrHardware1 I got the hang of putting the rope caulk in. I watched a video of hard lever flush, I changed the “gasket” and the the toilet flushes nice. I got rid of the old fluorescent light in the “workshop” area and put an LED work light in. Oh getting a 4 step ladder today helped tremendously. So far I fell off a 12 foot ladder, twice off a 2 step, now I’m ready to fall off the 4 step. Thanks for your advice and help.

      Inside because the surfaces are warmer and better for the caulk to adhere to.
