every time i watch your videos, i forget that i'm watching youtube. it's like i'm in a dream, in another place, in another time, perhaps at a cinema... and then i wake up to the reality that i'm watching youtube on my phone. i love the way you tell stories - i wish i could learn to tell stories like you in my videos.
Holy Sh!t man. This was a amazing production, I feel outraged that you have only 1k subs, this deserves so many much more. You deserve so much more. Thank you so very much. I bought the GH6 a while back and I'm completely obsessed with it, after my g7 I felt I couldn't go wrong (I researched lots of cameras & brands). I'm by no means a pro, so the autofocus really annoys me sometimes, but I'm learning so so much, and from EVERY review I've seen over like 1 year of camera-infused-obsession this is by far the top #1 movie (calling this a review is obliterating to all other reviews I've seen in life) I've seen. And it makes me feel like I made a wise choice, like the wisest one ever in regards of that choice. Please don't stop uploading to UA-cam, from the footage I can safely assume that you produce a whole range of things, but I wanna see more, the world needs to see more of this, and less of all the fake bought "reviewers" that keep popping up nonstop like a disease.
More than the camera is the eye and the art in this production. Perhaps the most polished review of anything I’ve watched for years. That’s bookmarked.
Wow, this video deserves way more views! The storytelling and way you showed off your example media is so creative among the other more standard formula of UA-cam reviews of most modern tech! Great job to all involved!
Man you literally are one of the best camera youtubers period. I'd love to chat sometime, either privately or on my little podcasty thing on my channel. Seriously though keep this up man.
As important as the GH line and the Voightlander lenses are to the look of your work, even more impressive are the compositions themselves. I want know more about your lighting process for these Kodachrome-style shots. They're cinematic as it gets, in the truest sense of the word. Incredible job E H, keep it up!
You are the man!! Always producing really amazing movies and images! I also work with Lumix Cameras and Voigtlander lenses! In my opinion, an excellent set! But of course the difference is you! Which shows many youtubers that what really matters is who produces and that these discussions about equipment and technical details are irrelevant.
This is the first video I've seen from your channel and I got here because I've been watching videos of keynotes of high end gear that I'll never be able to afford and DIY hacking of super cheap gear. This I am sharing so you know a little about how the algorithm sees your video and a little so you know something about myself. I loved this video. It has a lot of useful information and practical examples about the subject matter, but all the resources of music, transitions and artistic influences have turn this from just a video review into a small feature. The passion of the people involved was felt trough the screen and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the content! 👍
You know I’ve always hated when people did reviews and added “cinematic” somewhere in there. In my personal conclusion, the term cinematic has never been about the camera but the cast, crew, location, and the score and story. The montage at the end reminded me of that. Great piece my friend! Side note: can’t wait for the S5h 😅
I haven't been this excited to find a new channel like yours in years - so stoked to see what videos you'll make next! By the way, thanks for sticking up for the Panasonic gh cameras, people love to criticise them for not being full frame etc... but I am glad your videos can show how capable and amazing they are for filmmaking!
Thank you for telling this epic love story with GH series... I've been walk down nearly the same path with you... from GH3, GH4, GH5, GH5S, GH5mark ii to S1H...
G9 user here who is planning to get the GH5 M2 in a few weeks for the anamorphic support and potentially the live streaming. I guess I will then start the long saving process for the Gh6 in two or three years. Your poetic communication skills aptly convey how I feel about using Panasonic cameras. Thank you.
You deserve so much subscribers oh my goodness!! Just subscribed. I've been looking through so many UA-cam videos for camera reccomendations. I am a new film student (with a focus in film production) and for months I've been going through a lot of different reviews. None sold me as yours. You really give us an in depth, inside look at the capabilities of cameras. I hope you create more videos. Your work is absolutely stunning!
Love your reviews of cameras and Voigtlander lenses from a true perspective of a user and film maker and impressed that you take the time to shoot a short scene with the gear. My only less than positive comment this time was with the background noise underneath when you cut to the dialogue. Might I suggest you look at iZotope RX9 to cleanup the noisy ambience and dialogue.
I was sent here by a post on mu-43. The short movie was great. As a GH6 owner, and a newly 17.5mm Voigtlander owner, I was wondering...What f stop were the majority of the shots taken at in the short? They look crisp. Thank you
Thanks! While I don't have the metadata, I'd hazard a guess that It was probably f2 or f2.8. Those are generally the sharpest while still maintaining some semblance of depth of field.
@@e-hfilms I am surprised it was shot at that. Although I will not be able to emulate the great work you did there, I am just happy to see that the lens can produce a crisp image. I was worried it would be too soft. Appreciate you.
A filmic experience as always. You have a great speakers’ voice. Do you prefer the pictures coming out of the GH6, or GH5S? I don’t really want stabilization most of the time, don’t care for the whole 4k120fps thing and came to enjoy to slightly larger sensor of the GH5S (even though I get more vignetting when shooting wide open), however I do like the colors coming out the GH6. What is your opinion?
The GH6 is definitely better than the GH5s as the MP count is much higher. I believe the GH5s is capped at 10mp instead of the GH6's 25mp. However, as I pointed out in the review, the loss of the 20x digital focus assist tool has left its mark and also left a bad taste in my mouth. For my photography and video workflow, I don't believe the tradeoff for being able to focus while recording was worth losing that over.
I reviewed the S1H privately back when it first came out and as much as I liked it, the lens selection was extraordinarily limited and I never went back to it.
interesting. I notice most of your montage at the end was gh5. I LOVE my gh5, on the fence about the 6. you experience the "streaking issue" with the 6? Marty Sender You Tube in DC
I went full time freelance shortly after purchasing the GH5. Before that, while still very serious about filmmaking, it was still a hobby. No streaking issues on my end!
Great review - very similar to Media Division's stuff in terms of quality, and to me, that's a great compliment! Yet seeing your footage - done by a talented man who shoots Panasonic non-stop - reminded me again that I've yet to see any video from this camera that wows me. I mean it all looks OK, but doesn't seem to be as good as the BMPCC 4k/6k, the Sony A7IV, or Panny's own S5. And that's a pretty big downer considering it's a whopping $700 more than the bmpcc4k, $300 more than the S5, and $500 less than the Sony A7IV - and that's with the now current $200 price cut on the GH6 (which is likely permanent due to soft sales). I'm no hater - owned the GH5 for 2 years (and many more cams from Panny) and wanted the GH6 to be the leap forward that the GH5 was, but no dice. You're quite right in that it's miles better as a photo cam, but the lack of dual ISO, the lack of "pop" in any of the footage I've seen, and that mighty high price tag mean that I'll be waiting for that S5 MII to drop next year. I love the MFT format, but it looks like this is it from Panasonic (as well as Blackmagic). Liked/Subbed!
"All of my lenses are micro four thirds lenses, which means they don't have autofocus or image stabilization" - I have numerous micro four-thirds lenses that do have those things, perhaps you misspoke?
The only youtube camera reviews that make me feel like I should go make films instead of purchase gear.
It's never too late! The best camera is the one you own.
100% Agree
Now this is an oscar winning review. That music and storytelling is just reminiscent of classic films. Please please more

Strong contender for the best review of the GH6 Ive seen.
As an Olympus/OMS user with Voighlander lenses, I really do appreciate your approach and attention to detail devoted in your reviews. Thank you.

I'm so glad I stayed until the end
Me too :)
Love the Oz references, so informative!
So much wonderful footage near the end!
Great review. Loved the retrospective at end with all the GH lineup
Keep up the work! This channel will explode soon enough. Your videos are great!
Just great, I enjoyed watching, kind of poetic review.
such brilliant video, you are a true artist!

What a great video review! The world would be a better place if more people did that too! ❤️

OMG best review video ever, please do a video on colouring in the GH series.

cool cinematic review & great voice over, any chance for timestamps?
Great "review". How is comparison between S1H and GH6? Pretty sure it is easier to work with GH6 but what about image quality?
I reviewed the S1H privately back when it first came out and as much as I liked it, the lens selection was extraordinarily limited and I never went back to it.

That short film looks great. I'm also a proud owner of those voigtlanders. If you had to choose would you go gh6 with them, or zcam s6? Thanks
GH6 I think, tho the new ZCAM F6 Pro with SDI ports is looking extremely tempting...
Great video! What has been your experience with sensor streaking on the GH6? Thanks!
I haven't seen any streaking. In my opinion, its a complete non-issue for real cinematographers who actually light scenes.
Did they ever have that talk???
I might buy this camera.
I love this review.
Im sorry to say, but I dont think they did :( Glad you like the review tho!
Panasonic gang
Have they fixed the streak problem in high contrast situations?
I don't have an answer to this. Sorry about that!
good!!!!!!!
I use gh6 + voigtlander f0.96 60mm and 17.5. It’s amazing! I love this camera a lens. In my channel have examples. Thank.
