    This is absolutely wonderful. I greatly appreciate the pacing and detail by which you explain each feature.

    I don't think recommending MP4 is a good idea. MP4 is kind of the low quality switch for the GH6.
    You get only 100mbps or less. No 5.7k, no open gate, no VFR, no ALL-I codecs, 60p is the maximum frame rate.
    MP4 is great if you need 8bit video that can be used without any post processing or if you have a simple editing software that can't handle 10bit or MOV. It is also possible to trade quality for smaller file size with MP4.
    For everything else, which means all the reasons why people buy a GH6, MOV it the way to go.

      @Ulrich is MOV that much better? My computer could not play the files.

      I agreed! I'm no pro by any mean, but to me shooting MP4 with this camera defeats its purpose. Unless is a Vlog non important video, a family occasion that wont be edit at all just for memories I would not soot on MP4. Adobe Premier on Windows has become very good at Apple ProRess as well, I have not have any problem shooting MOV or Apple ProRess with the GH6. I'm not trying to batch on anyone, but What's the purpose of getting the GH6 if your editing equipment can not handle it?

      @@mnkwazi It’s my understanding that both MOV and MP4 are containers, as opposed to actual codecs. Either one of them can have codecs like 264 and 265. The MOV container is predominantly used on Macs, whereas MP4 is the most common container used for movies and streaming on the web.

    How can I avoid the GH6 splitting my concert files when I need one long continuous clip? I did a test with my 3 GH6's and using a CF card, it ran for 2 hours without splitting. The other two camera I used only SD cards for the test, and both files were slip into several equal smaller clips. Do you know anything about this? I am filming a concert on Saturday. Thank you for all the suggestions.

      Yes, when you need it. I only shoot mov when I need extra bandwidth for color work. This video is not for the professional but for someone who wants quality and manageable files out of their camera.

      @@jeradcamera i mean what's the point of buying a GH6 if it's to shoot mp4? It's like the most expensive option for that. I don't think there is a single non professional buying this particular camera.

      @@froznfire9531 i think the gh6 is one of the most overrated camera by youtubers anyway, and it shows in second hand market where the prices dove these last month. I think it's a far better photographic centered camera than a video one, but marketed for video. And it's astonishing because their fullframe lineup is incredibly good for the price and far better video cameras, and widely marketed for photo!

      @@lucasvivante8988 I just rented it for a few weeks and dont see how its overrated? It can record RAW and ProRes 6k 60 and still is a solid photo camera, dont see any other option which does this at this kind of price, also with pretty affordable lenses

    Can I ask what camera/lens you use for your videos like this. Just purchased the GH6 and want to get a lens that’s specific for in studio videos with pretty much the same quality and focus as this video. Thanks.

    For some reason, when I'm in manual mode or any photo mode, I can change all my settings from ISO to Shutter Speed, but nothing actually changes on the camera. The only time it does is when in video mode. Does anyone know why that is?

  • @TrailAmbience
    @TrailAmbience 2 роки тому

    Thank you for the tutorials. I have 2 questions regarding aperture and shutter priority modes specifically:
    Why am I not able to see shutter speed values(see SS numbers change on the screen) while in Aperture priority mode? I do understand this mode controls Aperture but on other cameras while in Aperture, you can still see when and what shutter speed changes to when for example you over expose or decrease ISO. On gh6 there's is no SS reading even though I know it's changing internally. Is there a way to have it displayed on my screen while in Aperture priority? That way I know what SS the camera chooses when I adjust ISO or aperture?
    Question no.2:
    Can you still focus manually while in either shutter speed or Aperture priority? Does focusing manual when in one of the two modes have any effect to how light works or its absolutely okay?
    Thank you so much.

    • @nicodraxler4950
      @nicodraxler4950 Рік тому

      Apeture priority: You set the apeture you want to use, ss speed, iso (if using auto iso) are set by the camera. Half shutter press should show the ss speed...
      Focus has nothing to do with the shooting mode you are in, you should be able to override af though

    Should not you have labeled this video Top 9 Settings to Change on the Panasonic Lumix GH6 101. It's very very beginner. Poor title I think.

    • @lanceevans1689
      @lanceevans1689 2 роки тому

      Poor manners I think. If this was too simplistic for you, move along. It’s probably just right for many folks. Though I will admit, when you’re talking about the top of the line camera at professional prices, one would think it doesn’t attract that many beginners.But I’m not a beginner and even the stuff I knew was fine as a refresher.

      @@lanceevans1689 Well I'd say my post was anything but poor manners. LOL. How sensitive of you to think so. What I am saying is that if it was labeled "beginner" I would have not watched it and wasted so much time on this post. Don't get me wrong I get it. I often watch beginner videos and learn a lot. This video is beginner 101. All good. No worries. Just saying.

Besides, if you can't tell a video isn't a great match for you and your needs...isn't that on you? Nobody stops you from switching off, right? Regardless, you enjoying your GH6? @@sutv6754 Spot on. It's dense with features. Example, I just learned today it has AF pre-setting (ie set close and far points). I know the G9 had that, but didn't know the 6 did. Finding new stuff all the time.
