@Marcos Davian I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
i really love the last note at the end. it just reminded me that it really doesn't matter, that it will mainly be the retwist that matters. that meant everything thanks for the video!
I started my locs with two strand twists at the beginning of June. I have very soft 3c/4a hair and it was a little pass mid back length fully stretched. I wanted to start with comb coils but my hair starts unraveling after about 3 days and I wasn’t about to try and fix the coils every week. I’ll be doing my first retwist this weekend and August 10th will officially be 2 months in and I’m loving it!! Great Video
Same. I started with comb coils three weeks ago and it started to unravel immediately. I have 3b/3c hair. I'm taking them out over the next few days and starting with two strand twists.
What people forget about coils, is that you can style them and leave them styled for 4 to 6 weeks. I coiled on long hair and kept them away for 4 weeks at a time. Oiling my scalp 2 to 3 days and by the 4th month my hair locd. All those cons go out the window when you style them and leave them alone. Coils are the way to go! They look different once locd.
@@kenawilliams9152 I tried not to touch them between salon visits but couldn't. I wash 3 to 4 weeks. And redo just my edges then put them in a ponytail until I can get back in the salon. Or another style.
Me too and in covid 19 times, Its all good , I started my own so I'm super excited as well and I don't like it being so programmed looking ,so for me It work ,yeah...
I started with comb coils and I have 3c/4a hair. My locs grew in beautifully once I passed the baby phase! When doing my clients 2 strand twists I sometimes do a light instant loc to make them a little more secure and to ensure they don’t unravel.
Con (for some) with twists: double headed dragons. A few of mine keep splitting and each side turns into a coil. If I let it lock that way they’d be double headed dragon. I am going to try chrocheting those ends
I’m in month one with my 2 strand twists and noticed that my some of my twists split but instead of at the very end it’s in the middle. Will that make a hole in my dread when it locs or will it eventually fix itself?
@@Austin-zg6gt I can’t say for sure what your hair will do, but in these 6 months since my comment, I’ve learned that my hair does tend to self mend. So I’d say give it some time if you want. You could try to crochet it if you’re too concerned, but I would probably give it a few months to see what happens.
I started my locs with comb coils in June I haven't really experienced the unraveling yet it just look swollen or something but haven't unraveling i guess it looks like it want to unravel
Great vid! I started my locs before the quarantine but I’ve cut them since. I made the error of starting with the crochet method, which for my 4c hair type was too compact and made my hair stand on ends. I didn’t like that look. I’ve decided to restart start with twists, then let them freeform as much as possible then maybe go back in with crochet method.
LOVE your hair!! I have my appointment to start my locs this weekend! I'm so excited!! I have a non-hair related question. Where did you get your nose ring??? I have been looking for something just like that forever!
Thank you! In April I started with comb coils that I installed myself. I cut my hair off last August and wanted to try something new. I combed them out in June because I was stressed out but also worried about the sizing. A few days ago I started comb coils again, they may be smaller than I'm hoping for. I really wanted to go to a salon but I don't trust anyone right now with COVID. The first set did have a lot of unraveling but they were cute. I have a hard time keeping my hands out of my head but I'm hoping this set ages and locs well. I keep them in bantu knots since I'm doing maintenance myself and I will wash them early if I need to. I washed 2 weeks in last time and didn't notice any issues other than losing some of my parting system.
I started with coils. My hair did unravel and I didn’t like it. I took out the ones that unraveled. Debating on starting over. I also like the ends when you first start the coils and some of my ends don’t look right
Great video! I started with two strand twists the end of June, I have 3c/4a hair and unfortunately I see no locking signs, not sure if its because my hair is so soft. It does look thin and 80% of my twists have unraveled at one point or another. After I got my first retwist after 5 weeks, the unraveling is minimal to none. I wonder how different it would be if I did comb coils but I am trusting the process
@@OnlyOneBeeeg Congrats! Yes, its almost all locked just some stubborn ends where the twists are still prominent, but lots of progress in the six months. Also I go to a loctician every 6 weeks or so and she palm rolls it which has helped them form.
Thank you for this 🙇🏿♀️ I still have an hesitation... I'm doing a test: I have a finger coil since june. I'm going to add a twist (a loose one would change the process, maybe ?)
