    I honestly use to watch loc installations and I look at their hair type, density/thickness and their loc count but I do get it's their head of hair so it's whatever they want... That's why when I did my hair my mom said "a few aren't the same size" and I said " yes because in some parts my hair is thicker or my 4C areas aren't the same as the 4B parts". Idk if she understood but made complete sense to me and that's where it counts.

      When you had the instant locs, did your hair shrink 3X what your length was? I see alot of instant locs videos that doesn’t look much shorter than before they started them. I got my instant locs and people are always asking me if I cut my hair. Wish I would’ve just did comb coils.

    • @ramatoulengane

      @@TJohnson7782 my instant locs were much shorter than my actual hair yup! The main problem for me was the loc count, and I knew they would shrink even further before retaining lenght. Almost 3 years in and I absolutely don’t regret choosing comb coils instead, watching the whole process (and documenting it) is so fulfilling!!

    I agree about the loc count. You really have to be realistic when comparing, making sure the person has the same or similar hair type and density as you. Everyone's locs come out differently, especially after maturing.

    Your locs are sooo Beautiful, you are correct, it is definitely a very personal decision and choice. I have had several loc journeys, this latest one I had started with two strand twist, I had 16 locs, yeah, that part 👈🏽. I thought that with low density strands they would magically give me a thick loc, WRONG! I realized that that was not going to alter the density of my hair or locs. So, I took them out and am getting instant locs. I have come to understand that the most I can hope for is a lot more locs and achieve a full look and not necessarily a thick loc aesthetic as my hair will not give me that. I trust my Loctician who has also become a good friend of mine from maintaining my previous journey. We shall see.

  • @brieb402
    @brieb402 2 роки тому +6

    Wait, I don't really understand the problem, maybe i missed something? It sounds like the loctician just wasn't good and didn't give her enough parts, or no one specified the locs size that was desired. What specifically made instant locs the problem?
    I notice alot of people confuse thick locs with _full_ locs. In those reference pictures you can tell the girls' loc size is smaller, so with more locs you get a full head. They probably had small size, and the loctician just gave you medium.
    But idk, maybe I missed the point of the vid.😬 I'm happy you've ended up with something you love in the end, regardless!

    When I was trying to find someone to do my twist (had to be someone I trusted because I don't like anyone in my hair) i was asked if I wanted instant locs and I was so excited I wouldnt have to worry about unraveling... Fast forward a few days later and I got up and decided I'm going to two strand twist my hair the size I find feels nice on my hair density and type... I felt like I needed to start from day one and since I didn't want to go to someone to begin with I'm very happy. It's just the first month I worry about because I tend to love to be in my loose hair (until it annoys me that I have to plat it or do something with it).

    Thanks so much for sharing. I can relate. I combed out my Locs 6 days ago. Of which I grew for 11 months. Why? Bc I did not like them. I started w braids at top and two strand twist on the bottom why? I trusted my Loctitian + my hair texture is fine and they unraveled after every wash. Therefore after a few waisted visits my Loctitian started interlocking which made it look thinner + bumpy/skinny/horrible in various areas. In addition my hair was growing outside the loc and palm rolling was not working. So I combed them out. However, I love locs and I’m sad I have to restart again but I will in 6 days but the journey is worth it.Growing your locs naturally without any assistance like instant locking; is the way to go!! Lastly, it is a spiritual journey and you want it done right. Down to the person/Loctitian who starts it. Finally, although my first loc journey was an epic fail. I learned so much about how to restart. I’m looking forward to starting my new loc journey with comb coils with crescent or Diamond shape parts in order to get full traditional locs. I cannot wait to restart again. Having it done right this time; means the world 🌎 2me Jehovah knows. ❤

    Your so pretty. And you smileeeee omgggg. But no I was thinking about getting instant locs just so I can go head and get that loc look. But like a few years ago like when my hair was short I have (4c) and really thick thick thick. But wen I had got my coils I didn’t like them bc of short hair and I was insecure about it so I took them out like the next day. But that was like about 3 years when my hair was short like only went to my jaw line but now it down to my back almost my mid back and the front is at little below my chin now and I really want locs so I fell like I’m more confident now especially since my hair is longer now and way more healthy than it use to me. Also when I get locs I would have to worry about that detangling and everything so that would be a big relief for my hair

    I had an appointment to get instant locs. It never felt right tho. I tried to make it feel right cause I paid the deposit, but it didn't. I mean it was on my mind non-stop in an uncomfortable way, the day before my appointment. It just never sat right with me. I even dreamt about it that night/morning of my appointment, that it didn't go well. I canceled my appointment, lost my deposit and had to pay a cancelation fee. So ion know what that was about, but I definitely find it interesting we had a similar experience, yours being after you got em, and mines being before. I haven't done anything as of yet, I've just been researching a lot, like you. And I now also wanna go through the process, which wasn't important to me before, and I feel like instants is cheating. Like getting liposuction instead of losing weight the good old fashioned way. So I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do comb coils but I'm in no rush.

      They will start longer but it's a bit of a delusion since they will also shrink some along the way. I just got some two-strand twist starter locs, but the loctician is telling me my hair will never loc unless I get instant locs because it's too soft. My hair type is 4 something so I want to go somewhere else to get a second opinion on that. I had instant locs before and it was way too stuff so I took it out within a week.
