1st your WRONG by blaming Activision for all of bungies Faults.
Note: I hate Activision same as majority of u and loved the idea of activation being bought by Microsoft because of the freedom the devs will have. However this issue is like Anthem and EA (do your research then blame)
      1. Activision gave free reign to Bungie for Destiny (yeah yeah i know your probably booing me right now, however that doesnt make it less true.) The idea behind this was they wanted a title as big as halo at that time. They even gave Bungie Extensions of 1 year to both D1 and D2 and extra funding.
      2. They provided Bungie help with High Noon, Radical Entertainment and Vicarious Visions the people who created The Menagerie and helped in a number of other parts too
      3. Do you like Eververse? Well it was not Activision who forced them, want to guess who was the one who came up with the idea and pitched it to Activion?
There are more things too but i researched this way back when d2 launched so... go ahead if u like to know the truth.
d2 was a failure at launch because of chaos within the studio but mainly Luke smith.
      1. Made your supers Simplified, he felt sorry for players (Cough, cought Mark Noseworthy, literally was in a stream he stated that) who did not know to create good synergy with supers.
      2. Love double primary, he wanted d2 to be competitive like overwatch or cod
      3. Every year Sunsetting, his idea. (I left the game due to this btw, i came back after sunsetting got sunsetted)
      4. No strike specific loot because it was all focused on Eververse
Now dont blame him to much Forsaken was amazing and he did good in d1.
But Forsaken was Forsaken because Activsion bought resources from other studios, it was literally a team effort as they tried to reboot the whole thing. Hence them saying there will never be a dlc which is bigger than Forsaken. In Shadowkeep Vicarious Vision literally created The Menagerie all by themselves Bungie only did the story, retextured the moon and created the raid (the raid was awesome.) Though we all like to hate Activision me included, sometimes they do try to do the right thing so they can and will monetize it heavily later. i.e Cod. This was the first time i actually felt bad for Activision.
Btw love your Vids Evan, if you ever do read this. Just wanted to point this out because the hate to activision in this case was not really warranted

It was even better than described here if you experienced it on release and if you played throughout the slog that was y1. To this day nothing Destiny has done has come close to the feeling Forsaken gave me and my other hardcore players over those first 2 weeks. Only D1 launch and Taken King were anywhere close to it, with D1 launch falling off fairly quickly.

The reason Luke Smith went out there on the record to say that there would be no other DLC the size of Forsaken was the brutality of the extra work. They were pulling all-nighters and working hardcore to make it happen, it was extreme and he said that so we know what the price is of having the pinnacle Destiny experience. I would love something like that again, and I hope Witch Queen blows our minds, but look at Beyond Light instead and consider the sheer size comparison between them. There's an abyss that we probably won't ever cross again, if not for other studio(s) providing a lot of help to Bungie. I don't want another Forsaken if it's at the cost of the developers' health.

No it didn’t save destiny but it sure has been such a great time. I'm gonna miss Forsaken as it was the main I wanted to back to Destiny. Ever since I stopped playing Destiny 1 after 2017, when Destiny 2 launched I didn't even want to touch the game due to how unhappy I was with the approach Destiny 2 was going for with not having random rolls, with special weapons like shotguns and fusions going into your heavy slot and etc. When forsaken was released and I was shown by a friend on how the game was going to change for the better I really wanted to come back. I was still a bit hesitant, but I watched some videos on Destiny to see what content the game provided and to see what people think of the dlc. Luckily, around 2020 when Destiny 2 went ftp I instantly downloaded it because due to how Forsaken had changed the game by fixing the many problem of Destiny 2 vanilla I felt excitement on being able to play a game I loved without feeling like my time was being wasted, and just like that my love for the franchise started growing again and I bought the forsaken dlc in a heartbeat and I don't regret it :)

Whisper of the Worm had yet to be nerfed at the time, so facing him in a proper sniper duel with both of us trying to score that critical headshot that would bring the other to their grave was an ten minute adrenaline fueled game of cat and mouse as the two of us had dipped, dived and dodged around the stalactites in the final chamber

I played on ps4 when they released The Forsaken. One of the best gaming experience I've had in my life ! Absolutely loved every bit of the expansion. Dreaming city aesthetics Absolutely amazing. The only thing I unfortunately missed was the raid, as I get super anxious when it comes to ingame interactions with other players. I downloaded d2 a few days ago on my PC , but i feel so lost and dont really know what to do. Thank you for your videos, I've been watching your channel a lot lately. Keep it up 🙌

I started D2 just a few weeks before Forsaken lauched, so back at this time period I wasn't really getting the scale of Forsaken. Nowadays a DLC at this price, with this quantity and quality of the content is unimaginable.
This video brought a ton of memories back and definitely makes me even more looking forward to witchqueen. For sure it will lack in quantity but I hope that the quality is on par, maybe even better than Forsaken

Best way to go into talking about seasons would be how hit and miss they were and are, Black Armory decent season, Joker's Wild terrible, Opulence one of the best to date. Some scratched our itch others were forgettable or painful.

I recently replayed through the forsaken campaign one last time after having not played it since 2019. I'm honestly ok with it going away. If it means we're getting a far better campaign in witch queen (which it looks like we will be), I'm ok with a destination I never really cared about and a super boring campaign (outside of the first mission) leaving the game. The best part of forsaken, the dreaming city, is staying in the game, so losing the part of forsaken that people havent played in years is okay.

I started playing Destiny as a whole during Forsaken and this video just reminds me so much of all the fun I had playing back then, I was so captured by all the mysteries that Forsaken had and became basically obsessed with the game. This video is such a fun throwback for old players and helps newer players understand just why we all go on about Forsaken so much and hail it as a "golden age" for Destiny 2. It's been a while since I've been able to sit down and watch an hour long video with no breaks and just being completely focused on the video for the whole length, I really look forward to you doing videos on the Annual Pass seasons as well. The Rifleman was my favorite Baron fight because you could only get a few shots off on him before he teleported, so you had to make the shots count. You could use a Rocket, but heavy ammo is limited. You could use a shotgun, but the clones are all around the room. This led to a Sniper Rifle being the best choice to fight him, turning the encounter into a Sniper vs. Sniper battle. Memorable!

Best sponsor segment ever! I enjoyed looking back at the Destiny Expansion that got me into Destiny 2. I remember being under level for that special corrupted strike and staying up all night to finally complete it. And getting stuck on a part of the Shattered Throne where you had to bring an orb back to a room. Well one of our party members dropped it, and we had to find a way back, because we didn't want to start the dungeon all over again. So I had to jump up to the portal wall by using my blade barrage super, go through the thrall hall by myself, and then grab that orb.

I started with D2, I'm a casual through and through, I've done some raids here and there but most of my time is doing weeklies casually. I remember back when forsaken came out the weekly rotation on the dreaming city and doing those ascendant challenges and all these secrets to do really for the first time had me become a destiny fan. Like the corrupted eggs, the Shankar's skulls in the weekly challenges, the dungeon etc. And since I was a casual dungeon content etc was hard as hell which made thing more challenging and fun. Man, forsaken was such a good time. And year 2 was fun as hell too with secret puzzles and missions with the seasons.

ngl, i was in middle school when Destiny 2 came out, played from day 1, and couldn’t get enough of it. I arrived at Destiny 1 really late, played it on Xbox 360, and still fell in love with it despite not being able to play rise of iron. I remember even playing Destiny 2’s beta. Maybe it was because I was younger, but I sank so much time into destiny 2 and never even realized so many people were upset with it before Forsaken. I loved the Red War, I loved Curse of Osiris, and I loved Warmind. I wasn’t even super involved in the endgame because i didn’t think myself competent enough for super competitive stuff like trials and i didn’t have anyone to raid with. I would just jump around and do public events and strike playlists to pass the time. Then Forsaken came out and I was like "oh wow, this is even better." I may have been a middle schooler who was just enjoying positive feedback loops before then, but Forsaken changed my perception of video game storytelling for the better.

Forsaken has such a special place in my heart. 2018 was a pretty rough year for me but after hearing all the promising news about Forsaken it was one of the few things I was excited for. It came out and man so many great moments were had and it made the rest of the year so much better. Tons of doing raids and activities with friends, people I used to talk to from Destiny 1 coming back and reconnecting, and of course the excitement that was the raid day. What a great time. It's sad to see it go, but I'm glad all the memories tied to the dreaming city are still gonna be there.

I miss that. It also gave me more reason to keep playing in down times. Sure a lot of players bitch about the grind.
I miss secrets like the one for Outbreak in D1. Would love to have them come back. Not necessarily the 5 week timegate on catalysts that D2 brought, but the very difficult mechanics to get it in the first place.
The only drawback is the "must have ____" LFGs. Which were a pain in the ass if you were not in a clan.
