Thanks, good honest review. I still have that order in for the shorter travel 'trail' version. The geo is a little less intense but with lower travel. I talked to the Commencal guys here in the US again as I keep going back and fourth whether to cancel the order and they say they all love it and its the bike they choose to do their lunch rides. I still plan on changing the fork to a 160 and the rear to a coil as it won't change the geo very much at all and I think on a 53+pound bike that is the lowest travel I would use for my overall riding. Oh and it does have a flip chip.

Great review. Some good points in there. Very nice bike but i really like a mullet set up. Be good to see how that works for you. I made my meta am29 a mullet but i needed to put shorter cranks and a backwards offset bushing to have pedal/bb clearance. A flip chip on commencals would be appreciated. Really like my geo. Tons of standover,reach, slack ha, steep sa
nice review, commencal 2021's have the nicest form language going on out of ALL bikes IMO...so simple but so perfect...and rocking alum in 2021....love that.

I have a 2020 sx. The best upgrade I have found so fas was a MRP progressive spring in the shock. Have you tried one?
Also I ride this on trial and bike park. So on trails I run lighter casing tyres. Assagai max tera on exo casing front and Director max tera exo on the rear. For bike park Assagai double down. The difference in agility is very noticable for trail riding. What are the best rubber combos you have found with Schwalbe for trail and bike park? Had Nobby Nics on my old enduro for years but not tried any Schwalbe rubber since going Emtb in 2020. Thanks man. Keep up the good work!

Nice bike and great honesty review, your not the only one Sam having problems with the ethirteen crank bolts, it’s a common issue plus mine where flexing on my cube to a point where one was just touching the rear chain stay , now replaced with Cubes own acid cranks
All the cranks on shimano motors tend to come loose due to the short stubby axle and no end of axle crankbolt. If that happens and does not seem to sort out put a thrubolt on the crank and a nylocknut on the otherside with locktite. This way you can get a consistent 20nm constant hold on both of the bolts. I guarantee it will not come loose 😀
Got mine 2 weeks ago (after a 6 month wait) and finding the weight of the bike is throwing my riding and confidence off. My previous bike was a 31 pound Transition Covert and could ride just about anything on it. That bike just gave me confidence. I did not think an extra 20 pounds would be an issue, I was wrong. I haven't really ridden in over 18 months and my confidence on the bigger heavier bike is just not there. So I guess I need to hit the trails more, damn that is going to suck :)

Great review again. Looking forward to putting 1200kms on the Signature at some point as well. 3 month wait here in Canada at the moment for all the Power SX versions. The reach looks long compared to the Decoy. 435mm on my medium Decoy, and 460mm on the medium SX. But stack of 625mm on the Decoy and 614mm on the SX. How did you find the reach when comparing the two bikes?

Just bought one these. Sick bit of gear! 6ft and bought a medium. So lively and planted after coming from the kenevo. Commencal did an awesome job on it. Did you end up going to the mullet on your one? Would you do 170mm or 160 travel? Hope to hear back from you mate!
Yep it’s a sweet bike! Very planted, i didn’t make ir a mullet but if I was I would go 170 up front

Did you end up testing the Power SX as a mullet? I was undecided between the 29 and the SX, but was leaning on the SX and eventually convert it to mullet.
I have the 27 and really like it, but I also have a mullet Decoy and can't help but wondering what the Meta would be like with a 29 up front.
Did you end up trying mullet on the sx race? The SX signature has the for 38 emtb and from my understanding it can accept a 29 wheel. I have not seen anyone doing this and i'm womdering what would be the result. I have the feeling the geometry woukd be all mess up. The head angle woukd get in the 62.x degre and the seat post angle would gain negative angle. The bike probably need to downgrade to a 170mm inorder to keep proper geometry. What do you think?

Hey champ thanks for the kind words, I was going to do this test but I just ran out of time with the bike! I think it would 💯 be better as a mullet but your correct at 170 at the front and I’m pretty sure you will need 38s 29er the 27,5 won’t work! After months on mullets and 29er I can’t go back to 27 just not enough traction coming into corners for me.
@@SamsBikes thanks it's what i had in mind. I'm from canada. Winter is comming soon and I did not get my bike that I have order back in Jully yet. I wanted a big travel enduro/DH bike. The new Meta Power SX look cool but it had less travel and will only be available in september 2022. So I think I'll stick with the 2021 meta power SX signature. With luck I might be eable to ride in the begining of the next season.
I had a verry close look at the kenevo but it was outside my budjet and I wanted shimano/fox combo.
The Norco range vlt was nice aswell but the weight of the bike turn me down or the carbon version where to expensive.
The devency, i did not like the geometry.
The scott ransom was nice but not verry well equipe for the price compare to the SX signature 2021.
Anyway a guest i'm just the guys waiting for his bike to arrive home and at this pace it will be a chrismas present :)

What spring are you running on that RS Super Deluxe Ultimate? Mine gets here in 2 days and ships with a 400lb spring but I think I'm going to need a 550lb spring for my weight and riding style. Thinking about trying a progressive spring as well. Have you tried one on your meta power yet?

Can you talk about the wheels some. Should I spend on the top spec for better wheels if I’ll have to replace them after some bike park days? Or do they come with a warranty?

My 2020 SX with the 504WH battery has started shutting off while still showing 2 bars of battery remaining. Ever experienced this? I'm getting about 2400 vertical feet out of it.

With commencal’s limited stock, would you recommend waiting until the 2022 ebike lineup gets announced? You think 2022 ebikes will be much different than 2021?
I personally dont think we will see much change in the 2022 we might see a mullet added to the Commencal line up.
Hey Sam, great feedback on the Commencal SX! I have a Meta Power 29 Ohlins on order, and it should be coming in the next 4-6 weeks. I have a question- When the bike arrives, I will also be swapping my cockpit to a more familiar setup. I am moving to a 35mm bar clamp diameter, and I was wondering if you had to do anything with the display mount since the stock bikes are 31,8. Will the provided display mount work on a 35mm bar as is? TIA, and thanks for the great content!

Mate have you noticed resistance from the motor when you get to the limiter? It’s terrible on mine! Obviously down hill runs it’s not an issue but we have a huge drop off nearby and you have to pedal like f*** along a flat section before heading off it and on my sx signature once I start getting up to speed it gets ridiculously hard to pedal? Any experience with that?
Hey mate I haven’t noticed this at all! It is a big big bike so for me it just feels like your pedaling a 27 dh style bike when you go above the limiter

What size fork did you purchase to transition it to a mullet? It'd my understanding bike has 185mm fork, are you replacing with fox 38 185mm? I have an SX signature series ordered 👍
you will need to get some 29 zebs or 38s 170mm you could go 180 but it will slacken to 62 or even 61

Question for you. I have a 2021 meta sx signature in order that i shoukd received in in novembre 2021. Commencal just release the new 2022 sx that will be mullet but the suspension are now 170/160 and the rear shock is now the fox X also the bike is 3lb more. They have revise the geo to mix it with the power 29 and 27.
Base on your experience should i go for the 2022 or the 2021?
Hey mate the mullet will be better for sure but I’m not sure I would be buying either too long waiting list for a good but not amazing bike
@@SamsBikes a guest your a specialzed fan:) i'm not a fan of the sram drivedrain and break and here the specialyzed kenevo run for over 11k$ with sram NX component. The commencal are full kashima XT for 10k$
