Enjoying you're videos. Just started winter here in Melbourne, Australia, so will go to single boxes this upcoming spring. Can't wait to bees again soon.
Im excited about mine filling up my 2nd Brood box so I can do that. Im in Central OK our spring has been very wet and chilly this year. Im hoping I havent missed out on any flows.
Another informal video. I love your content. Thankyou for sharing. Hope you feel better soon. I kinda know we’re you stand . I installed a package and made two splits with new caged queens. Me my wife and mother in law and grandson that my wife watches came down with Covid , so I havnt been able to check to see if queens have been released or if they need more feed. Hopefully I can check next week . Sending prayers your way ❤
Good luck I have Lyme disease from last year I’m smaller as a beekeeper in Missouri. It’s not fun but take all the antibiotics they prescribed i had the bullseye.
Great video. I only have 4 hives, but they are double deep brood boxes. I think I'm gonna switch them over to single brood boxes. Seems like the way to go for me at least. Hope you don't Lyme disease too brah!
WoW--Thats a lot of brood , how long ago did you take splits off of these hives? I do the same thing with a single brood box during the honey flow but they can still ride the edge of swarming in a good year.....Thanks for all the good advise, I watch every viidio you put up, 8->
Now that you've installed the queen excluders, how do you manage the brood box through May and June to prevent swarming while still maximizing the honey drop ?
Hello sir new beekeeper from the Philippines, i just got a question. Have you ever tried putting the foundation in between the 2 brood boxes not on the top, if yes then is it better or not?
I am having a lot of Swarming myself. Do you have technique to get Swarms off a tree trunk up in the tree. I can reach the swarms with a ladder no problem but its not like I can shake the trunk to get the bees. I have been scooping the larger piles into a brood box with a frame of eggs but then I have no way to get the rest off the tree trunk. I tried brushing them into a bucket but that really really pisses them off. If you have better technique I could use it. The bees have been going into the boxes so far but now when I get near the hives I get attacked immediately because they are still pissed off at me even weeks later. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Hope you don't have Lyme's Decease and you start feeling better.
Use a bee brush into a box. Put a frame of eggs in the box first. Spray one spray of Swarm Commander on the inside of the lid first. Within an hour they’ll go off the tree and into the box.
I certainly hope it’s not Lyme! Please save every tick in a plastic sandwich bag in the freezer. The ticks can be tested to see which diseases they carry! My mom was diagnosed with Alpa-Gal Allergy at 90 years old! She was allergic to mammal! 😩
How do you keep them in the box until flow starts? I have been keeping doubles in my 3rd season and can’t keep them in the boxes until flow starts and swarming goes away. Darn bugs!
Wow you suck 😂😂😂LOL LOL. No just picking . I really enjoy your videos and content. I hope you do not have Lyme but even if it is not it is bad to fill bad it just screws with everything. I have put my fifth super on some of my colonies now . Really hope you get better soon. Thanks for you great content keep it up when possible. THANKS

Excellent Queen lay 5000 eggs above .Your queen pointed on brood area wow

Great work man. I do the same here in Europe. This is example how good beehive needs to be organized.
Thank you!
Hope you get to feeling better. This is such a busy time with bees. That was an ideal hive.
Yes, I dont find then like that everyday!

Thanks Earl! We took split around 3/8 and 3/26
Ehanks, this is exactly what I am planning to do.
Glad to help!
Now that you've installed the queen excluders, how do you manage the brood box through May and June to prevent swarming while still maximizing the honey drop ?
Usually once they start making honey the swarm tendencies decrease
Get well soon
Thanks!
Good info!
Thanks!
Already pulled 1 tick from back of my neck this year
I’ve pulled a few myself!
Like your content! Hope you get better.
Thanks!
Bees RR cattle they don’t care if you’re sick they still need fed and worked power through young man you’re the best
Thanks!
What are your thoughts on using an upper entrance during a honey flow to increase the efficiency of honey storage?
I’m leaning towards it more and more!
The bees will put a lot of pollen in the honey supers
Love it
Thanks! Me too
Did you shake the queen frame into the tote?
Yes. The tote has a missing bottom. It’s a funnel
how would you stop the others from swarming if you werent sick?
Not sure
@@Ashby_Farms_NCmy first year of mega bees. Last year they were new. I have ten frame deep and added a medium for brood.
Feel better
Tryin!
Hope you feel better soon. Do you run single brood chamber through winter.
I prefer a double deep as they’re more forgiving in spring and allow for more splits to be made
Hello sir new beekeeper from the Philippines, i just got a question.
Have you ever tried putting the foundation in between the 2 brood boxes not on the top, if yes then is it better or not?
Only interrupt the brood nest with one foundation at a time
Looks good!
Thanks!
Awesome video sucks you don’t feel well but your still in the bees keep it up
Thanks Ryan!

@@Ashby_Farms_NC , thanks that's pretty much the same thing I have been doing. Hopefully they will quit attacking me soon...lol
@@daverowden-RowdyBeeFarms Use a spray bottle of cold water first, spray then brush - rinse and repeat.
@@joewalker1246 thanks for the suggestion
🙏🙏🙏
Thanks!
on single brood management...you leaving one nectar pollen frame in brood box and only keeping the rest of the box brood?
Honey on the 1&10, pollen on the 2&9. Brood in the other 6
thanks....i pull all honey up above excluder. 6 frames of brood and a frame of pollen next to brood....the rest drawn comb. Thanks for sharing !
I certainly hope it’s not Lyme! Please save every tick in a plastic sandwich bag in the freezer. The ticks can be tested to see which diseases they carry! My mom was diagnosed with Alpa-Gal Allergy at 90 years old! She was allergic to mammal! 😩
I get so many every year. I just flush them
@@Ashby_Farms_NC You only need to bag the ones that bite you, I get a ton too but very few actually bite me.
When I find ticks I move them to my ball sac! They can stay dug in there all day for all I care! hahahaha
How do you keep them in the box until flow starts? I have been keeping doubles in my 3rd season and can’t keep them in the boxes until flow starts and swarming goes away. Darn bugs!
Take lots of early splits
Make sure you get the head of the tick out when you remove it.
Corrie(sp) will have to put her nursing degree to use and take care of you.
Oh yeah. Got the head out. Still got all the symptoms
Boy I hope not, I'll pray for you. This year they are bad here in Oklahoma.
Yes they’ve been bad here too
