Those "eggs" are actually cocoons that hold the golden silk in place. You see Ahtal Ka controls her nest with her silk, like a puppet. The hunter has to climb her nest and sever all the string connection points to tear apart Ahtal Nesto (the mech).
Ahtal Ka uses her mech to break down castle walls, destroy their armies, and then steal anything she sees with value.
This could be a dragonator, a house, a water wheel, a castle gate, or anything else.

about the interface: starting with World, it is a lot simpler
yes, you cannot see the Monster's health, you need to understand it's behaviour, when it is drooling it is low on stamina and will seek out food, hurting different parts of the body will lock certain attacks and limits its range, when limping it gets low on health etc.
World added damage numbers, so that you can see where hitting it is the most effective
this fight is fairly complex, you do not need 4 players you can do it solo, it is the hidden final boss of GU, so after you know all the items, have a good armor set and weapons and stuff, so yeah, the early encounters are a lot easier xD
this is how Monster Hunter looked and played until World arrived, now imagine us MonHunHeads nerdgasming when the first World Trailer dropped.... it was INSANE

Ahtal-Ka Loredump and Extra Info. This will be edited as I watch, will say when I’m done on Discord.
Firstly, this is a Endgame almost Siege Quest. Unlike 90% of other monsters, this takes place in one large arena for the simple reason that it’s too big, it can’t fit on a smaller scale normal map and walk around freely.
MHGU was released in Japan on the 3DS while it was later ported to the Switch a year later when it went international, a few months after World finished its base game.
As per Monster Hunter tradition, no visible Health Bars. Normally you’d use visual and auditory clues like drooling, panting, or stumbling to determine if a monster is getting weak. Siege monsters such as Ahtal-aka however have less of these cues since you don’t need to chase it down or worry about it running away to rest. It may take a few moments to catch its breath, but no visible bars.
Due to Ahtal-Ka not being an Elder Dragon, it would in theory not be immune to traps. This is useless however since the arena you fight them in doesn’t allow for traps to be placed down, most likely to make the fight a little harder.
Ahtal-Ka, Neopteran. Introduced in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
Ahtal Ka is one of few insect based monsters in existence. I even dare to say it may be the most powerful non-Elder Dragon Monster in existence. An Egyptian mantid that can produce silk, it is extremely intelligent.
Ahtal-Ka originally lived in places with more trees, though they were incredibly rare. They used to carve out logs and form small structures to make them selves larger, walking around and nesting in their wooden suits of armour. They used their golden silk to tie it together and had basic pulley systems to get it to move.
Eventually Ahtal-Ka discovered that metal is more effective than wood, but they couldn’t harvest it directly from the earth them selves.
They started slowly raiding fortresses, Guild owned structures. Quietly going in and out, stealing more and more pieces of whatever it could grab. Eventually it managed to steal enough that it formed a new mech, dubbed Ahtal-Nesto. Using this, it proceeded to attack fortresses directly, killing everyone present and adding more pieces to its collection. As it grew larger and larger, it became more and more unstoppable in its reign.
Eventually it had formed a gigantic mech, now using stolen Dragonators as primary weapons for it to use. You, the Hunter who helped research and slay Nakarkos and Valstrax, was called to end this nightmare before it became too much to handle.
The reason Ahtal-Ka’s mech has so many glaring weak points is because it’s unfinished. You showed up before it managed to complete its plans. If it had gotten any more weapons and hunks of metal, it would become a possible High Elder Dragon threat on the same level as Shara Ishvalda or even further.
The Mech is controlled via silk and cocoon-like pods all over it. These pods help distribute the silk, like points on a puppet. Ahtal-Ka sits in the giant central cocoon, the one that they ran into the mouth for. That is her central control orb.
Ahtal-Ka fights at first by using a girder as a weapon, swinging it around like a flail before pulling out Ahtal-Nesto. Her tail/abdomen can grow, retract, and freely move to help her grip objects. After that, phase 3 shows it pulling Dragonators out of the ground. The significance of this I’ll explain later. There’s also now giant strings across the field, touching one resulting in you getting tangled- like a defensive laser field. The fourth phase is the last of the mech, you managed to destroy it. Forcing your way to her control orb and getting in. This enrages her, pulling out the original wheel at the core of the mech, and fights with the last of her will. Supposedly her first ever stolen piece, she uses it to roll around and try to take you down.
When they finally fall, it’s revealed that Ahtal-Ka was holding eye entire forlorn fortress up with their silk. Killing them had everything sink back down into the depths.
Ahtal-Ka is still extremely mysterious. The one we see here is the only one ever seen and actively documented by The Guild. We know so little about it, much like many other endgame monsters.
    History Time
The Dragonator is an ancient weapon used by the Ancient Civilization to combat monsters, mostly dragons and other gigantic beasts. Very old Dragonators are found by the guild and carefully sent to be cleaned off and refurbished for future use. They are extremely old and powerful tools, very difficult to maintain, and even harder to make. Smaller scale Dragonators have even created and placed in varying locations.
The Dragonator is a spring-Type weapon. Put in a chamber and then forcibly pushed outwards like a spear or harpoon. Some have been known to spin, either at the tip or the whole thing, acting like a drill. These Dragonators are some of the best defences The Guild has against giant threats.
The first ever Dragonator was found to the east of the Old World, later stored in a warehouse for safekeeping and research. Unfortunately, after a specific Elder Dragon attack, the Dragonator was lost and later destroyed.
Ahtal-Ka meanwhile steals entire Dragonators and uses them for precise combat, Something it’s mech isn’t capable of doing. She stores dozens, possible hundreds of them under the sand and on Ahtal-Nesto, using their abdomen and silk to launch and skewer people with. Ahtal-Ka managed to learn that these are powerful weapons and tools of warfare, and it should use them too.
    Speculation Time
    Dragon Wars
It’s possible Ahtal Ka was around during the Great Dragon War. If so, it must recognize the mechanisms and ability of the Dragonator, wanting to harness it for itself. This would also explain the visual design of Ahtal-Nesto. There’s a non-canon art book from MH1, showing old drafts for the game and some concepts. Some of which ended up becoming the Dragon War and Fatalis. One of the pages shows a gigantic half mechanical half biological monster, the Equal Dragon Weapon, hanging from strings in an ancient storehouse. It was supposedly made from the remains of Elder Dragons, fused to metal by the Ancient Civilization to be used as a weapon during the war. If this thing was real, it would be reasonable to assume Ahtal-Ka roughly designed the mech on its appearance. Ahtal-Ka probably survived the end of the war with Fatalis ‘bathing the world in flame’ by burrowing underground, hiding until it was time to come back out. Due to its beautiful appearance, it’s possible Ahtal-Ka was worshipped as some kind of deity and was spared from the war against monsters entirely. All speculation however.
    Gameplay Stuff
You might have noticed at the very beginning, the team was gathering items from the Blue Box. This is the Item Box. On every quest you get a box at camp that holds some items that may be helpful, extra potions, Defence increasing items, or other stuff. In this specific box there was Anti Dragon Bombs, giant explosive barrels used for Giant Elder Dragons, and Pickaxes, used to mine off talismans and charms directly from Ahtal-Nesto.
The menu stuff during the fight was the Hunter dropping unneeded items from their inventory to carry the new materials, such as charms they mine or Ahtal-Ka material for Armour and Weapons.
Before World, items like Pickaxes, Bug Nets, and Hot and Cool Drinks were all items you held in your inventory that took up space.
That’s all I got for today, can’t wait for 4U intros though!

Then again, you've already seen its transformation so not too much to worry about! A reaction to all the final boss themes as part of your soundtrack series would be wonderful too :D
Edit: Ahh, seeing as you're planning on playing MHW and MHR I wouldn't recommend reacting to anything about those bosses in that case, the music is ESPECIALLY important in MHR. Can't wait to see you play them through though!

Zal, The Ahtal-ka fight is a boss battle and not a normal monster hunt as it is set in an arena map. A boss monster fight in one singgle large arena and they usually don't really count as a hunt but more of a fight. A normal monster hunt play out differently as they are set in a map that has multiple zone for monster to run away / sleep / rest. I would recommend you to watch a rathalos hunt from GU as it show how a normal hunt is supposed to be.
Also, monster in monster hunter doesn't have a health bar. Player need to read the visual clue that the monster show. As you fight them the monster will run away, this show that the monster is weaken. It may then eat or sleep to regain health and stamina. But the most easiest way to know a monster is nearly dead is if it limping while running away, this usually mean the monster has less then 10% of it's health but this also when the monster is most aggressive.

You said this looks simple, Ahtal-Ka is definitely an unconventional fight, it's more cinematic than challenging, they always do that to the last story boss. I could be suffering through the game then boom last story boss first try. Also 4 man multiplayer is very chaotic, the best monster hunter experience is either solo or 2 players imo, i prefer solo because i like the 1v1 .

  • @vincentpey3929
    @vincentpey3929 2 роки тому +3

look this is a battle with a huge monster also known as a spectacle fight, they are incredibly cool the first time arround but they are very samy when fought on repitition, because they are way more scripted than normal fights. (also the whole gathering a ton of stuff mid quest isnt that bad for most monsters, but with athal ka you wanna allways pick up stuff because you need its rare materials that are more likely to drop in mid quest pick ups, for the godlike athal ka weapons, they are the best weapons in the game, that dont need special skills to reach theyr full potential, though for many weapons the chrimson fatalis ones end up being better if you invest into the sharpness +2 armor-skill).
Most fights in monster hunter arent like this they are a lot faster and more dangerous, but if you have a full team of four youd probably be able to crush most monsters (beside some incredibly hard ones like the EX Deviant quests in GU, these ones you can only really beat if everyone knows what they are doing and have the strongest possible equipment) generally the game will be pretty difficult when playing solo, with two player also being nicely balanced but the 4 player scaling for monster health and damage is not enough to outweigh the damage output of four hunters most of the time.

  • @galaxyknight2869
    @galaxyknight2869 2 роки тому +2

The theme of phase 2 is generally why people don't care much for the proof of a hero in this fight, because it just sounds so good that it kinda distracts you when the adrenaline hits in the final phase. Monster health is never shown, it kinda detracted from the natural feel of monster hunter so it was never a thing besides 2 spinoffs, monster hunter explore and monster hunter stories.
Another set of things to note is that Ahtal ka is technically a type of monster known as a neopteron, meaning it's just a normal big insect. These types of monsters are typically very weak or like glass cannons at most, but Ahtal Ka is the exception as she can build her nest into a fortress by stealing guild and hunter supplies and equipment, this fortress is known as the Ahtal Neset. The golden casings are actually cocoons that Ahtal ka makes. Ahtal ka is incredibly intelligent and capable, though it is arguable for what monster is the most intelligent at this point, as it would be fatalis at the top with the second place being tied with the other black dragons, and with 3rd place it may be tied between Ahtal Ka and Berukyurosu (pronounced Beru-kyoor-os).
He fight is very unique since monsters normally just fight you head on and stronger boss fights that lead up to ahtal ka are pretty huge in scale. Ahtal Ka faces you at first as a seemingly small and weak mantis with some unique abilities, but eventually it starts to show that its main power comes from its intelligence, not just its brute strength. This is why Ahtal Ka is so unique and respected as a fight as it didn't just rely on crazy powerful moves and high stats, it relied on stalling opponents out by keeping its own fragile body hidden in an unstoppable force.
All fights in monster hunter are scaled to solo play, but if multiple hunters show up the difficulty increases and decreases as they join and leave, hence the game being fun for although having friends does divert the opponent's attention more often (I myself am a hardcore speedrunner so I typically run solo and do hard stuff alone even without in game solo support like cats and palamutes).
Ahtal Ka is the final story boss of GU, and GU was actually a switch exclusive in the west, hence the nice graphics. The japanese version of GU was known as Monster Hunter Double Cross (MHXX) and was on both 3ds and switch. Despite being the final story boss, monster hunter is monster hunter so the final bosses from older games typically return and a bunch of other world ending monsters are always still left, so the fun never really ends.
All monster hunter games are hardcore on the hunting lifestyle, meaning you use the environment and everything you find in it to your advantage against your opponents, like gathering from the areas around you. You never know if you just find a rare insect to craft a max healing ancient potion or a berry to increase attack when you are lagging behind in dps once in a while. The games are about a balance with nature, so the gathering and hunting goes hand in hand to make the experience what it is. There is fun in beating the tar out of monsters, but there's also the charm of running for your life while you are chased down by one after snatching their egg, that's just what monster hunter was always about.
    SUGGESTIONS:
If you want "hardcore" monster hunter, I suggest watching literally any Apex monster hunter of any kind. Despite not being the canonically strongest fights in the series, they are meant to just be as hard as possible to hunters to face and really test their mettle, even if they all bring their best equipment and hunting buddies.
Monster Hunter frontier was a japanese only monster hunter title that shut down recently (We miss it dearly... :'( )
This 12 year long series of updated content in one single monster hunter game was one of the oldest online games in existence, and it had incredible popularity in japan along with having the canonical strongest monsters in the series and the most flashy and powerful effects. If you like large scale battles, frontier was more or less there, like fighting a giant world eating serpent (See laviente fights along with the other variations, violent and berserk laviente).
Greatest themes in all monster hunter
Berserk Laviente phase 1 out of 5 theme: ua-cam.com/video/5u113XGBKC4/v-deo.html
    Shantien phases 1-4 but mostly 3 and 4: ua-cam.com/video/5iXOCWJYRsU/v-deo.html
Taikun Zamuza final phase 3 (Extended version provided): ua-cam.com/video/PUyZkcdFydU/v-deo.html
I suggest that you make the next monster hunter music tier list based on certain tiers of monsters, like area themes first, mid tier to high tiers next, flagships in their own place, and finally some for elders and elder levels, with an optional choice of saving the 7 black dragon themes for last in their own tier list as the ultimate ending to this all.

please react to Narkarkos, Amatsu and or shagaru magala in GU (G Rank version preferebly since then youll really see all of the monsters moves) as well as Gogmazios from 4U, they are some of the best Endboss fights in the whole series and probably more of the climactik crazyness that youre looking for.
Oh and if you wanna see the most rediculous and hard monsters in the series then react to the g rank versions of Hellblade Glavenus, Thunderlord Zinogre, Soulseer Mizutsune and especially Bloodbath Diablos (all in GU), they are deviant monsters wich are a special subclass of monsters that have gone through some change like an mutation or traumatic event and are now abselutely rediculusly strong to a point where they are more powerfull than Elder dragons (though not high tier Elders and theyre effekt on the ecosystem isnt as Terrible as that of an Elder dragon most of the time, they are just incredibly strong and could abselutely wreck the mid tier Elders in one on one combat)
(Amatsu originally appeared in portable 3rd and shagaru magala in 4U but GU is the most recent version of the Fights. Also these fights like Athal kas, are more Bossfights than the tipical hunting experience they are meant to be clamaktik battles with no disrubtions)

Ahtal-Ka is, in fact, the female of the species. It's also a Mantis, not a spider or scorpion.
The cocoons on the back are structural points to hold the fortress together, as it's built from scraps that Ahtal-Ka gathered after destroying buildings.
Its fortress, named Ahtal Nesto, also doubles as its nest, and with it will typically kill anything in its vicinity, making this the first Ahtal-Ka to ever be spotted as it normally leaves no survivors in its scavenging.
Most quests are repeatable, especially in older Generations where, as far as I know, all quests are repeatable. The change in the map is merely visual for the end of the fight and is not permanent.

All this menuing was probably them farming for charms or rare materials since they are more likely to drop in these little shining pickups, they probably want to make the Athal ka weapons and or armour wich require an unusually high ammount of rare materials to fully upgrade (youd need 6 of athal kas rarest materials if you wanna max out one of the Athal ka weapons and the full armour set, wich is why i only ever maxed out the weapons since the weapons are incredibly good and the armour mostly offers a lot of customizability and defensive stuff but at that point in the game most hunters are looking to craft optimized offensive sets wich can best be archieved through mixing armour pieces of different sets and there is no equipment that sinergizes particularely well with Athal kas armour pieces, though its still perfectly usable GU has a lot more of diversety in its meta sets and lots of weird wacky but perfectly usable of meta strategies, unlike world wich essentially has a couple of be all end all, endgame armour combinations)
also theyr inventory was full so they had to use the menu to replace items with new ones, if it isnt full the stuff you pick up just goes into your inventory immidiatly no menuing required.

Capcom: How do we end a Era? I know giant MECH!!. This fight was a great way to end the original generation of MH. Personally happy there is not as much gathering/ down time between hunts in this new generation that started with world.

the hunter does wear mixed armour from multiple monsters none of wich are the Plesioth armour (big Karp thing), plesioth armour looks incredibly weird.
Also fun fact on that karp thing, it is the most hated monster in the series. It just has bad hitboxes and will sometimes hit you even when its animations wouldnt even suggest that its attacks hit anywhere near you, this is at its worst with the tail spin and the infamous hipcheck wich has such a large hitbox that it hits you through the screen and shoots you into the next dimension (this is a long running meme in the communety wich became so infamous that capcom aknowledged it in mh Stories two, where plesioth has a move called hiperspace hipcheck or something like that).

    • @itsturniptime3699
      @itsturniptime3699 2 роки тому

Plesioth’s broken hipcheck was retconned to be called the Hyperspace Tackle, where Plesioth thrusts it’s hips so hard it creates a shockwave in the air

You should react to Nakarkos! He was the final boss for MHGen and has a "waiT WHAT IS THAT" moment very similiar to ahtal-ka's :"

so heres the thing bout Ahtal Ka, its a spectacle fight where it visually blows you away but the monster isnt anything all that insane, in my opinion Allmother Narwa is a really good mix of both ends of the spectrum, on a side note will you play Rise? The PC demo is out

    • @Zall
      @Zall  2 роки тому

Not the demo no, But will be playing world and then moving to rise when released :)

  • @SirHusky654

Ahtal-Ka is good but I think that as a spectacle fight it's kinda dated compared to Iceborne Fatalis, Sunbreak Amatsu, Safi'Jiva, and Allmother Narwa. I'd especially recommend reacting to Iceborne Fatalis and Sunbreak Amatsu sunce those are probably some of the best spectacle fights in the series.
