    Not much of a review. More of a show and tell. More to follow once I put it to some good use. So far.. it starts and it cuts. For the money, we are of to a good start.

    *Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*

    I have the Ryobi 16 in. 37cc 2-Cycle Gas Chainsaw, great utility saw for trimming tress and downed branches. Light-weight and starts right up every time. If you are doing heavy duty work, then maybe something bigger (with a bigger price tag). For the price this is a great tool.

    I’ve owned one of these for about 4 years now, I’ve fallen mesquite trees, silver maples, oak… I just recently swapped out the 14” bar with an 16” bar and it pulls it just fine. Works awesome for managing deer property.

    If you ever have problems with this Ryobi 2-stroke engine running not running etc. You need a carb adjuster tool to reset the carb setting screws for lean/rich and idle/air mixture settings. If you get those adjusted right on this carburetor then you will have a perfect running Ryobi engine.
    These Ryobi 2-stroke engines run great for many many years. The only parts that wear or you may need to replace is the sprocket, chain and bar. The chain becoming loose is normal stretching, you will need to adjust chain's tightness many times over the hours of cutting. Eventually it will hold it's tightness. Don't over tighten the chain, it will wear out the sprocket, chain and bar.
    On the weedwackers' you need to replace the clutch after many hours or years. Depending on thickness of grass you're cutting through.

    I just bought this. Have some questions: How tight the chain must be? How to use the bar and chain oil? How is the regular gas treatment?

    • @FunOutDoors
      @FunOutDoors  6 років тому

      I think the manual says something about being able to pull the chain a 1/4 inch away from the center of the bar. If you cannot pull it that far away, its too tight. If you can pull it farther, its too loose. Don't quote me, look it up. As far as bar/chain lube goes, just fill it up. It automatically lubricates as long as the hopper has lube in it. I have not had problems using the regular gas treatment. This thing has ran like a top since I bought it.

    • @trwilkinson4623
      @trwilkinson4623 3 роки тому +1

      @@newmanfertig886 , suggest that you don't leave chain on bar if unused for quite awhile. Canola oil dries out / oxidizes to form a resin that binds the chain joints & bar groove. Real pain to get clean.

    I have used this Ryobi 16" 37cc saw for my limbing and small cuts (super lightweight, and a good inexpensive little saw for little projects) for over 5 years. Of course, I upgraded this Ryobi to an Oregon bar and chain to make it work well. But I digress. I never expected that this saw would become a staple on my dads property. I did not expect that it would be a little workhorse that would show up every day to limb, chop, and make short work of new growth. I am on my 3rd chain, and (as I explained, go OREGON bars!) my 2nd bar. Learn how to keep your chain sharp, so you are not buying a new chain when what you have just needs a little honing (imagine everyone throwing away their pocket knives, instead of sharpening them correctly).
    Whatever saw you choose to take home, just remember the mantra of wise men everywhere.
    'She is a fickle bitch. You have to learn just what she wants. Just what she needs, even if she will never articulate that fact to you. Use your Zen power, and figure out what she needs to be happy and grind hard. She will never tell you, so you had better figure that out for yourself. If you can unlock that mystery, she will stay by your side forever, and never let you down'.
