The wee rouge one is actually not long enough for an elevator ride to be as long as gone with the wind. Even at walking speed the entire length of the ship is less than two hours. An express elevator should take ten minutes.
+cal riec Stasis Leak was one episode before 'Thanks for the Memory', where Rimmer can only go down to the planet's surface thanks to the Hologramatic Projection Cage. The Light Bee wasn't introduced until season 3.
