One of my biggest problems with the temple is the secrecy. Even when I was an active member, I couldn't understand all the fear surrounding talking about the temple (something which began to make sense to me when I learned about the blood oaths). The only thing that people actually covenant to never reveal is their new name. As far as I remember, not even the other signs and tokens come under that same covenant. But even if they do, the rest of it does not. I have always felt comfortable talking about what goes on in the temple. Now, even more so. It needs to be talked about so we can move past all the smoke and mirrors and understand what it actually is. There is nothing divinely inspired about it. It's simply a preparation to get people to commit to giving the church everything.

    • @NEMOTHEMORMON

So, I am a Freemason and an ex-Mormon. I have actually studied the history of Masonic rituals (yes rituals, plural) and the evolution of the "blue lodge" degrees and the standardized forms of the Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason degrees. The Solomonic ritual that Joseph would have been introduced to, was actually created closer to the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) than during the middle ages where the Enochian and Noachitic rituals were more predominant. In fact, many elements that are incorporated into most current Masonic rituals were due to infighting and quarreling between two main Masonic groups -- the Moderns and the Ancients. Not wanting to have members of one group be able to sit in lodge with or join the other, the groups began swapping signs, tokens, words, and other parts around so that those that learned them from one group could not use them accurately in the other. In fact, many of the elements in the LDS temple taken from the Master Mason degree are known to be modern inventions because the MM degree was created as a special degree for those who have served as a Master of the Lodge (now this has been moved to the degree of Past Master as is usually presented in the York Rite, but that is a story for another day). Thus, if the modern Masonic ritual that has become the main form of Masonry is the basis for the LDS temple ceremonies (which from personal experience, I can attest it is), how can the fact that it was created around the late 1600s to early 1700s be an accurate claim that the ceremony is of ancient origin when the older ceremonies deal with an entirely different content altogether?
Also, the problem I have with the anointing of oil part of the ceremony in the LDS temple is that the exact same phraseology is used in the Scottish Rite which preserved the Masonic rituals from the various masonic lodges and bodies that predate the formation of the UGLE in 1717. Why are specific anointing phrases used in Masonic ritual copied verbatim into the LDS Initiatory Ceremony? Why are the ceremonies of the Mormon temples nearly identical in form (albeit not in content) to the Masonic ritual that would have been predominant in Joseph's day, but which have since been changed in some modern masonic ritual? I always find it amusing when non-Masons try to lecture a Mason about Masonic things (as Kwaku is basically trying to do here) when they don't even have the experience to back up their claims.
Overall, I liked your rebuttal to their video, though there is A LOT more on this subject that undermines the legitimacy claims of the LDS church regarding the "restoration" of temple ceremonies. However, I am assuming you are not a Freemason, and so you probably don't have some of the background or experience to actually note the even more damning claims that were not brought up in the CES letter. Which makes sense and given a non-Masonic background, even the inconsistencies that you point out are sufficient to discredit the TITS claims in their video.

Great job Lewis. I do love the shrill, desperate and unhinged manner with which LDS front men are handling their PR. The want for a solid counter-attack is clearly not within their grasp. I do also love the use of straw-man arguments to shore up their frail position. I ask them how they perform burnt offerings, and are they environmentally friendly.

"If we have the truth, it cannot be harmed by investigation. If we have not the truth, it ought to be harmed."
If Kwaku actually does believe I don't see why he feels the need to mock and why he thinks the truth can be harmed, it's pretty ironic of him to ostracise Jeremy as on a separate video Kwaku said members shouldn't.

Awesome as always! Excited for the team up with Pneumanosophy
11:30 mark. Fun fact: Paul did no such thing. Neither Acts nor Titus was written by Paul. Acts was written decades after Paul's ministry so even in the most charitable sense, Acts "quoting" of Paul needs be taken with a grain of salt.
Titus is even more problematic as, apparently, several elements in the writing style would have been foreign to Paul and most likely a product of the Second Century (i.e. a forgery).
Edit: In other words, Kwaku is too ignorant to realize he's inadvertently undermining his own case. The further one gets from Paul's actual words, the more one sees "borrowing" of non-Pauline ideas. The further Joseph gets from prophetic revelation, the more one sees borrowed items (and with Smith, it's ALL borrowed).

I still don’t fully understand what they are talking about. The ceremony has never seemed like anything to help me understand ANYTHING better. I will say this, if the blood oaths were still happening when I went through, I would have quit the church so fast. I have had beautiful experiences in the temple, but I think the ceremony itself is so weird. Even with the new changes.

Does anyone know ANYONE that can honestly say that these Kwaku videos have buoyed or bolstered their faith? Has anyone ever heard another person go, “wow guys, you guys saved my faith when I was hanging off the edge!” When I had only shreds of a testimony left after the CES letter and GTEs, these videos confirmed that I was right. They are so horrible, so offensive, so harrowingly bad that they destroy all confidence in trying to preserve your testimony by listening to their flawed logic and sickening display of confirmation bias. And the Elder Holland BBC interview, where he ends up lying and looking like a total chump? What an apostle!?! I thought apostles would be able to spar toe to toe with any would-be reporter or interviewer but I realized (I just couldn’t see it before) that the “brethren” go down looking like total chumps everytime they are put in front of a camera and are grilled or asked tough questions.

The cultural appropriation part of their argument kind of defeats their own argument. If he got the idea from his culture, he didn’t get it from God. It doesn’t matter if other people have done similar things because they weren’t claiming God revealed it to them. The fact that they made this admission tells me they haven’t thought critically about the issues and their implications, or they’re just trying to manipulate people.

These 2 kids trying to refute the CES letter is just so... cringe worthy. They actually prove the point of the issues many of us have regarding the temple endowment and everything that goes into it.
I find it interesting how Joseph Smith and Brigham Young stated that these cannot be altered / changed, and doing so would bring damnation onto you if you did, but over time, we see future "prophets, seers, revelators" making changes and declaring yesterdays "prophets, seers, revelators" as heretics or try to move their doctrine into a "personal view only".
All the cunning word play and inability to actually complete the quotes they are refuting, and then making convenient excuses as to why they cannot discuss the more intricate details of the ceremony when other church leaders are on record doing just that...

In my post-Mormon years, I obviously don’t believe in any ordinance of the LDS temple. For decades, I had participated in countless baptisms for the dead, my own marriage ceremony, and copious amounts of everything in between. What I find to be the most baffling thing is if the LDS temple ceremonies and ordinances were a part of the restored gospel in its fullness and eternally binding, then why did changes take place? Are the covenants that people made 50, 100, 200 years ago altered to conform to these changes? If so, it would make God a liar. Because, by Mormon definition, a covenant with God has terms that are set by God and the covenant participants agree with the terms and God-given promises for strict obedience. Even The Book of Mormon agrees with the Bible in that God is the same today, yesterday, and forever. Yet He cannot be the same if He changes the terms of an eternally binding covenant that was made hundreds of years ago. But if the historical individuals’ covenants with God do not change, yet the ordinances themselves do change, then that makes Joseph Smith a liar and a false prophet.

I thought catholic prayers for the dead were bad enough. But moronism berpterzzing agaisnt the dead is way way wayyyy worse and ultra evil sin against the Dead and God in General way General. You don't just need the Bible you can use your Kumon says or any other reasonable if they could be scripture or not is to leave the dead alone in fact protected good from Wicked cult rituals or attack. Only God takes care of the dead and he does not harm them he doesn't nothing of them those who do good no life he rewards those who do bad to get punished you don't do anything after death the Bible and so on says the after death comes the judgment. In Christianity wise those who don't have a Christianity or anything like that who let the good life get the afterlife those who rejected it get the bad I can go so on. We Christian and not excetera Muslim Christian and not all agree overwhelmingly in Moore leave the dead alone.
Now its time for you to undo every if we did against the dead in Old Folks rituals take it all back cradle back deep burp towards yourself out and clear it and pray that basically you heal your relatives of being offended or attacked or desecrated all because of sin and Evil by luciferian freek'n 1800 who is necromancing the Satanist with twistianity left and right.

As a general principle and more is the one and only thing ever ever the bom is right about and that is just one extreme superficial thing the any textbook you can come up with says I can find better fiction books that are more in line with the Bible more logical not unoriginal and completely on their own. The moron book is so horrid and its narrative it's so crappily misused Christian crappy doesn't represent Jewish people in the past even Christian era. It's usage has its extreme horde extreme anachronisms not just slight anachronisms but extreme extreme anachronisms that are nothing more than basically 1800 inventions with no understanding of the past.. It's satanic luciferian euphemisms or using it like secret combinations "gadianton" and is it extremely limited geography it's copying off pirate novels as well as view of the Hebrews almost verbatim as well as Smith putting himself into his owns alleged text overly destroys not to regulate destroys it as a fake but overly destroys it isn't fraudulent falsehood. When I first read the bom I knew it was faking fraud I didn't realize how fake and brought it really was like I like and give a scale from 1 to 10 how you write a book I originally had it on a number 3 read through it it's numbers going to drop it went down to a two and almost won it was even worse than I thought I thought it'd be more of a four but really it dropped down from 4 to a 2 almost 1 if not 1. I might as well make it 0 let alone I read the original correct 1830 version of The bom with all its original true meanings a phrasings intact and I've noticed several run-on sentences grammatical errors flat-out misappropriation of the biblical texts including the KJV excetera excetera excetera.

Of course it does. If JS didn't have the ability or take the time to create ceremonies that symbolize this new religion, it really puts into question their validity. Once you have the “ah-ha” moment and realize that the book of mormon was written/created and not translated and everything really was “fabricated out of whole cloth” like Elder Holland testified that is wasn’t...than no, the temple ceremony has no sanctity and no importance. Its pretty much like a bitcoin or a dollar or a chunk of gold, all really have NO value other than what we give to them based on society accepting them to have and hold value. We believe they are valuable, so they are. The temple is only important if you believe it is important. What have you really, REALLY ever learned from the temple? The only thing that really ever “got to me” was when Elohim and Jehova are talking about how they will provide a Savior when we fall. That always made me emotional, but when it all fell apart based off of discovering the all the things i thought were “anti” were actually true, its just like a complete rewiring of the brain and spirit. I couldn’t even stomach one more sacrament meeting, let alone a temple visit. It made me literally sick to my stomach. I mean, if God really wanted me, wouldn’t he send the spirit to rip me away from the falsehoods that were destroying my faith? Why doesn’t he care? If God will NOT be mocked, then why does he permit that Kwaku and Brandon (and their pathetic, embarrassing, gaslighting, condescending way in which they try and defend the church) exmormon tiktok, etc, mock him day and night? Its because he either doesn’t care, or he isn’t really there....I believe the latter. So...yes...knowing the pattern that JS used to take info, teachings, preachings, stories, geography, rituals, etc from other people and places and incorporate them into his creation DOES take away from the sanctity and importance of the temple. On the way home from work today...I said the name out loud of the 2nd token of the Melchizedek, the Patriarcal Grip, or Sure Sign of the Nail. I laughed out loud to myself at how really insignificant those words are, those words that are the culmination of all mormonism, supposedly, the words you say right before you are admitted to the presence of the Lord...and I just laughed because of how insignificant they were. Out of pure respect that some still think it has, I wont post those words here but you know what they are. And they have no power and importance whatsoever,

If we were all in a previous time of the church a few decades ago, this behavior Kwaku demonstrated would've been abhorrent for acting out out. It would've nearly caused him to be excommunicated or an auto distancing on the suppose of some Priest craftis aloof.
The infraction wouldn't have been to save the image of the church or to abuse authority(from that time), it would've been just for acting against the character of people that we used to be. It would've been seen not just as dangerously prideful, but also just not who we are. Those times sadly don't exist anymore and the people is a political zoo apparently serving a political church.
It appears their approach is geared to flashy and trendy, in order to jump start an emotional upheaval trend in membership and put their innuendo in to invoke an annoyed / light mindedness reciprocating marker to be applied to anyone of their viewers watching it, or to create a scoff to the more arrogant to uphold 'more right'.
Their presentation just represents a lot of plucky indignity to the point of making mockery at the faith and themselves. This sort of thing would've been just seen as irreverent and menacing. Of course Im not defending the church per se by just saying that, just defending who we used to be as a people with our own values* before we got leashed to another in house theocracy.
Values* like looking out for one another. That sentiment also no longer exists, instead it is transformed into apologizing for an abusive God and hanging on his coat tails like an abusive Father. Like serving in the role of an abusive relationship to try to out win the difference knowing no better and living in self denial to believe that the difference can be turned for being a more submissive docile adherent staying in the relationship and whom doesn't want to believe that they're the victim being voluntarily used for being better on behalf of an abusive leadership.
