@@TechWithSean My 15.6' version can't go past -150 on the core and -125 on the cache. I have SST at 128 instead of 0 so I'm not idling at max clock speeds and then just pop on max performance on the battery setting when gaming. Haven't repasted it yet but I find it really difficult to get past around 85 degrees on really any game. My 1660TI clocked to +200 core and +800 Memory so depending on the game I can reach 2000Mhz. Any Idea how it's possible for my 2070/i7 6700k @4.6ghz desktop build runs certain games WORSE (more stutter) than this EVOO laptop...? To be fair, it's running 2560x1440p 27inch but it also has a 30-144hz variable refresh rate freesync monitor, so I struggle to understand why frame timings would spike so much more than this Laptop.
I'm looking to get a good laptop for college. I'm a Mechanical Engineering major so I'll need it for programs such as solidworks. I will also game a decent amount. I'm not a rich person so I am intrigued by the cheaper one or would there be a too big of a drop in specs and performance where I should just go for the 1660ti version?
Time to retire my Asus g73jh, still running strong though. Thinking about getting the 15in variant of the evoo. She's +10 years old. Asus dont build them like that no more.
Same here with an Asus laptop, still running strong... bought around 2010. With all the power in this walmart laptop, will it hold up beyond a few years? I don't game so, maybe without all the stress this might be okay? I'm more interested in photo use and non-gaming productivity apps. Maybe overkill! Thanks, Sean, excellent - easy to understand you - that helps a lot.
Thats what I paid for it, no regrets love the laptop, I have had no problems with it whatsoever. BUT, if you can wait I bet it will go on sale even cheaper next black friday.
Thanks for the Review. I was looking at the ASUS Strix Scar and Eluktronics laptops. Happened across this gem on Walmart. Definitely looks like a winner or the price.
Hey Sean I’m having some problems with my evoo laptop and I’m stock and I don’t know what to do. I changed the windows on it through boot to a windows 10 pro instead of the home edition it came with because it got sort of slow my internet explorer took long to switch between videos on UA-cam and overall browsing things on the internet. So I did that and right after that, I don’t know whether that’s the problem with the software of keyboard but it started tweaking out on me. The focus on my desktop would be focused on “This PC” icon and if I try to click on any other icon the focus is still on the this pc and still only opens it. Then it sort of looses the focus gets to normal then i noticed that that laptop would not boot up in to the windows the first time after the laptop was off. It would load till a black window and that’s it it’s stock at the black windows. So I turned it off turn it back on and it’s good and also had to go to bios and change from uefi to OS version fold the windows. I don’t know much about it but I was trying for fix the black random and weird screen so I was clicking things. Then I googled stuff and found out that uefi is better. So I downloaded the uefi bootable Version of Windows did change the windows again through a boot and now when I installed some of my games I played my F keys and Esc key stopped working and the laptop would by itself take more than 1000 screenshots of my game and when I’m in the game and when I press any key on the keyboard I hear a screenshot sound so just random and weird and scary. So I’ve decided to go back to bios and see if it’s something I triggered there.Gone! And I went back to bios and began trying things. Nothing worked except for one thing but it only lasted for like hours s it went back to bad and it became very bad worse then it was. I went on bios - Security - Key Management- reset to setup mode I think that’s the one I clicked first and my buttons did stsrted to work but like I said hour later the laptop began taking screenshots nonstop and regardless what I did browse internet or play games it would do screenshots. Then I went back to bios opened the same windows but instead of pressing on reset to setup mode, I clicked on restore factory keys. And that’s it. The windows cannot log in. Every time I’m starting the laptop it automatically takes me to bios without me pressing anything .i did try to change the windows again. I did it on the second try it became sort of slow on the first try and again even in the boot menu the focus went on the red X of the menu clicked on it by itself and then window appeared asking me if I’m sure I wanna cancel. I pressed no and it just I guess stock at 100% finished installing windows files. I closed the windows went back in to the windows of my choosing I wanted to install, pressed install, it did install but even now it still taking me to bios setups automatically and not esc key or F keys don’t work and I’m stick and freaking out and don’t know what to do. Could you please please Please help me. Thanks
Hi Sean, great review! I purchased the laptop after your review and have had absolutely none of the issues others have had. I guess I got lucky. One question: I am having trouble connecting an external monitor to this laptop. Have you tried connecting an external monitor to this laptop?
yes i did... I connected even a Sony TV set using the HDMI, but i downloaded /updated WIN 10, which not only updated, but looked for and downloaded any missing driver.
Can you give the specs on wi-fi and wireless connectivity like bluetooth and the type of SSD it has - is it SATA or M.2 NVME? I didn't find anything on the listing regarding those specs - Thank You
Any chance you can dump the bios? I flashed mine and am having issues. Evoo doesn’t have an online presence yet and I would like to flash them back to stock.
Hmmm I don’t know how to dump laptop bios but you may be able to use one from any 9th gen laptop built on the TONGFANG GK5CP6X. I think all the i/o and boards are the same. Hopefully they will update a support page soon
poomanicus - sorry that number was actually the 15” this will be one of TONGFANG GK7CN6S / GK7CP0S / GK7CP7S chassis. This is a pretty good resource forum.notebookreview.com/threads/tongfang-gk7cn6s-gk7cp0s-gk7cp7s.825461/
I bought this and one of the first things I did was creating a recovery drive in windows. It's very easy to do, and all you need is a 16gb flash drive. This has saved my life many times in the past in other systems, and I'm sure will do in this system too.
Hey thank you for helping out, Some say that the gpu runs on 115w, is this true? Does it have per key rgb or a 4 zone rgb? Does the back logo light up when turned on? What’s the build material, is it mixed like the helios? Is the keyboard efficient? i.e all keys register well when typing fast?
I’m not sure on the GPU power draw. It’s per-Key RGB Back logo does not light up Metal on the lid, plastic on the inside and bottom. The deck around the keyboard is kind of rubberized, but not in a cheap way. Idk if that helps lol I’m not the fastest typer, but I like them more than most laptops.
Oh could you find a way to check using nvidia’s gpu control panel or a software that helps? Also does the screen have PWN, some say it’s not good for users that are prone to headaches, as it aggravates it.
@@karansonik9197 The 2070 is 115w and does not have the GPU boost feature. I have the same chassis from a different reseller with a 2060. My 2060 pulls about 90w or so when using turbo mode and boosts to about 1900mhz and holds about there. Only the 2060 and 2080 Max Q have the hardware gpu boost. PWM will be present on the models using the BOE screen. Its at roughly 970Hz. Units with the CMN175D or LG screens will not have it
jared thx You have no idea how much you helped me! On the contrary, one last request > is there a way to tweak the PWM to cause less strain and headaches?
@@karansonik9197 No worries! Um as far as i know of no. iirc some people use flux? Or you can look on laptopmedia for the panel and get their health profile but thats if youre willing to pay 971hz is pretty high in terms of PWM so you may or may not be affected
Just got the 17.3 in the mail.first ever gaming laptop for me and first time ever switching from ps4 to pc.Any beginner tips and downloads recommended by any one?greatly appreciate it 👍
Check out my other video on the EVOO for some performance tweaks. If you want to get into a bunch of PC games on the cheap, check out Microsoft GamePass for PC, you can get Forza, gears and a bunch of stuff for a few bucks a month and you don’t have to pay for Xbox live 👍
Great review, but sort of unfinished. How did you like keyboard? Lots of complaints in Walmart reviews that it’s finicky and too sensitive. Have you checked how hot CPU and GPU get during stress tests? What about fan noise under stress? Is it too loud? Display brightness in full sunlight? Color accuracy? You really need part 3 of you review 😀
Ok, the gpu and CPU will run hot if you're a gaming or editing. Keyboard feels weird and takes a while to get used to because it's mechanical and it's more flat than a normal keyboard with white switches. Also almost everyone says wear headphones when gaming because fans get loud. Normal use isn't bad and fans are almost silent.
cepaes * do you get customer service and tech support from eBay? All right then, buy it at Walmart.com on Monday (memorial day) when it’s most likely going to be on sale.
Awesome video! Thank you! I bought this a couple days ago and waiting for delivery! Im new to laptop gaming. Is there anything you recommend that I need to download for the laptop and applications or what not.
Kasey Bakker - check out my other video, you should get Throttlestop, Steam is a must for PC gaming, and Microsoft has a PC GamePass that you can use to get a bunch of games for like $5 a month. Games on there like Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 will run great on this 👍
Hey I wanted to buy a gaming labtop and was wandering if the 15” is good for a starter labtop , I want to have a good experience though and not have problems
I haven’t tried the 15” from them before. I have heard that the 15s run hotter (same i7 running at the same speeds in a smaller chassis) but it should still be a good deal.
Armon Dadkhah - this was in the default mode, but if you watch my optimizations video, I say that the GPU boosts higher in Turbo mode. I’m now using Turbo mode with the fan boost disabled
Thanks for the SoundBlaster link, it helps a little bit. Still having problems wit getting enough volume from speakers at times. Maybe a extra speaker could be plugged into the volume out jack? I nee to upgrade the ram to 32 GB, what brand and type of ram would you suggest? While editing I get "not enough ram message" and it leaves holes in my edit. I guess at the same time I will add a hdd or ssd depending on pricing.
Thanks for this review I just picked up this laptop based on some of these youtube reviews including yours, the price to spec ratio was the deciding point. I was a little nervous about support if I have issues based on all the negative reviews on the EVOO Facebook page. Also based my decision on the positive comments of the Eluktronics Mech 17 which looks identical to the EVOO 17. BTW do you know if there is a way to swap in a larger battery as an upgrade?
OrbitalEvil 666 - I’d say it’s worth opening. In the US, you can’t be denied warranty because of a sticker. Best backup is probably just stick in a cheap old 2.5” HDD and clone the boot drive to it, then just hang onto it and you can always clone it back to a new disk.
This thing has to have some kind of malware pre-installed in it, if I walk in the room my evoo laptop will turn on... even when I first bought it - this thing stays on even when it's closed and is just constantly running background processes. The only way to stop it all is to turn the thing off. I feel like some chinese manufacturer is mining bitcoin and watching the irrationally placed camera. They also sketchily do not have a website... just a twitter account. I also believe Walmart blocks negative reviews left on their website. Anytime I tried to leave a 5 star review it would let me but if I tried leaving a 1 or 2 star it would say "failure" contact support.
Thanks for the review, I am considering buying this laptop in the next days. A question regarding FPS, I know it stands for frames per second, but does a low FPS meaning that you are experiencing lag or what does a lower FPS indicate? What is the lowest bearable FPS, is it a personal preference or is it a number that you definitely can't go under?
Mikael Johansson - most people prefer to have at least 60 frames per second in games. Typically you’re limited by the power of your GPU in games, so if something has low FPS then the system isn’t powerful enough to run it well. Higher FPS = smoother gameplay. Hope that helps!
Bryce Greene - jump on it before it’s gone, you can always return it if you don’t like it. It’s a crazy deal for the price, cheaper than some 1650 laptops
I love mine. Its Awesome, i added 64gb on it!, it will take 64GB!. Only issue the battery is 1h30 on full speed. The screen is awesome. The keyboard is good. Excellent overall
@@MrClimateCriminal Yes never had a problem still working. 17 is really nice. If you need the screen space the 17, is fine its also not that heavy to carry.

Thank you for staying up to post this video. I was leaning towards a Amazon 17.3 "gaming" model with i-7 9750, 16GB and a 256 SSD with 1 TB HDD, 1050 ti, until I came to a review that said it was only a 60hz xcreen. I don't know a whole lot about computers but I do know that HZ's are important on a tv or monitor, more the better. I had seen this laptop before while looking around but said to myself, what is a EVOO? Even at $999, I kept thinking... After watching your video I bought the EVOO, but with a extended warranty too, call it peace of mind for the brand name. Can't wait to get it and I look forward to see you add 16GB more Ram and another maybe smaller (cheaper) SSD or larger HDD and to boot off the SSD. Does that make sense budget wise?
Flavictory SAK - for gaming, the 16GB dual channel is just fine for now, even for high refresh. SSDs are cheap right now though, and more storage is always a bonus 👍 these are pretty easy to open up compared to some other laptops, check out my other video where I put in another drive. The RTX 2060 blows the 1050ti out of the water, you made a good choice.
Hello again, Really like my Evoo 17.3. The keyboard takes some getting used too especially the space bar press. I am having a problem with the speakers still even after making the changes to custom and going to stereo and making sure headphones is not selected. First of all the loudness is too low on Reaktek 3 speaker setting and only marginally better on THX S A setting. I generally use my laptop to view my Ring security cameras and cannot get live feed sound from any camera, only great video. All I get is a sputtering buzzing for sound. I ruled out a Ring problem by using my other 2 laptops using Windows 10 and confirming no live sound issues. I have checked sound settings and see nothing wrong. Windows does not indicate a problem. I reloaded all the updates using ethernet cable so I know they downloaded correctly. I had Windows check for newer drivers. Only using live view on my Ring cameras causes this overriding buzzing noise. All other playback comes through clear though low volume at max setting, even other brand security cameras. I tried calling Evoo for solution but I was number 47 in the que with an estimated wait time 120 minutes plus. Website access even going through THX to Evoo is a joke. Can you offer anything to try that is within my limited knowledge and know how base?

@@Dr-CthulhuOfRlyeh From what I've observed, those 3 modes affect the level of performance from the lap. Like low, medium and high power mode - so to speak.
Haven't quite used the laptop on battery power only but I'll try that tongiht and I'll update you later.
@@Dr-CthulhuOfRlyeh the button is just for toggling the fan speed as far as I can tell. Turbo mode is crazy loud. It stays fairly cool in everything except AC Odyssey on the regular mode though. I'm going to post another video soon where I show my undervolt/underclock settings for the CPU, overclock settings for the GPU and how to open it and install another SSD.
@@Dr-CthulhuOfRlyeh It is just a fan curve with office being the quietest, gaming being louder, and turbo being the loudest. In comparison to a lot of other laptops I've used it seems quiet even in Turbo mode. You can easily play games in office mode though and you won't thermal throttle but it'll be quieter.
To be fair, it's running 2560x1440p 27inch but it also has a 30-144hz variable refresh rate freesync monitor, so I struggle to understand why frame timings would spike so much more than this Laptop.
what is the battery life like?
Very helpful! Thanks
I'm looking to get a good laptop for college. I'm a Mechanical Engineering major so I'll need it for programs such as solidworks. I will also game a decent amount. I was looking at the 15 inch 1660 ti for $845 version and also saw the good deal on the 15 inch 1650 for $629 version, but the 1650 version also has only 256gb of storage while the 1660ti version has 512gb. I'm not a rich person so I am intrigued by the cheaper one or would there be a too big of a drop in specs and performance where I should just go for the 1660ti version?
Get whatever you want and add storage if you need to. You can get a 1TB SSD for like $100 now, and these are pretty easy to open up
Time to retire my Asus g73jh, still running strong though.
My THX Spatial Audio app is not opening
Check my other EVOO video and use the Soundblaster Connect app that I linked in the description there. It works better I think
Price is 1200 now. Do you think it's worth it? Thanks 😁
Thats what I paid for it, no regrets love the laptop, I have had no problems with it whatsoever. BUT, if you can wait I bet it will go on sale even cheaper next black friday.
@@jjg5365 how is it now? Any problems?

I did it on the second try it became sort of slow on the first try and again even in the boot menu the focus went on the red X of the menu clicked on it by itself and then window appeared asking me if
I’m sure I wanna cancel. Could you please please
Please help me. Thanks
Do you think I should get it to play gta or Fortnite?
Saw this from your comment on their promotional video, thanks and good luck man 👍🏿
Hi Sean, great review!
Thanks)))
How is the laptop going so far for you? Is it similar to OP-LP3?
That clicky keyboard, wouldn't it trap dirt and small debris?
not any more than any other keyboard
Is this good for editing videos?
It should be plenty powerful for editing videos 👍
@@TechWithSean wow very quick response.. Thank you
Can you give the specs on wi-fi and wireless connectivity like bluetooth and the type of SSD it has - is it SATA or M.2 NVME? I didn't find anything on the listing regarding those specs - Thank You
tzone - it does 2.4/5ghz wireless, has Bluetooth, and the 17” has a 1TB Intel 660p SSD 👍
@@TechWithSean Thanks! I was going to call tomorrow but do you know if this company has any support or warranty?
tzone - there’s a 1 year limited warranty but it seems like it sucks, and you can buy an up to 3 year extended squaretrade warranty thru Walmart
@@TechWithSean Thanks, yeah, was expecting that... The specs on this machine are unbelievable for the price - too good to pass up.
Tech With Sean Thanks. I’ll keep troubleshooting based on that recommendation.

why is there no link to product?
They have separate web pages for the separate prices of each model. Just look up ‘evoo gaming laptop’ on Walmart
what if we want to reinstall windows?
where can i download the drivers?
Any answer?

I bought this and one of the first things I did was creating a recovery drive in windows. It's very easy to do, and all you need is a 16gb flash drive. This has saved my life many times in the past in other systems, and I'm sure will do in this system too.
Should thermals for this and the 1660ti model be similar?
I would imagine the 1660ti model may run a tad warmer, the 17” chassis is bigger and has more space for air to move through.
How were the thermals?
Pretty decent
Hey thank you for helping out,
Some say that the gpu runs on 115w, is this true?
Does it have per key rgb or a 4 zone rgb?
Does the back logo light up when turned on?
What’s the build material, is it mixed like the helios?
Is the keyboard efficient? i.e all keys register well when typing fast?
I’m not sure on the GPU power draw.
It’s per-Key RGB
Back logo does not light up
Metal on the lid, plastic on the inside and bottom. The deck around the keyboard is kind of rubberized, but not in a cheap way. Idk if that helps lol
I’m not the fastest typer, but I like them more than most laptops.

You have no idea how much you helped me!
On the contrary, one last request > is there a way to tweak the PWM to cause less strain and headaches?
@@karansonik9197 No worries! Um as far as i know of no. iirc some people use flux? Or you can look on laptopmedia for the panel and get their health profile but thats if youre willing to pay

Look at your settings on the equalizer they are to far up, thats why they sound so tinny....Lower those for some bass...
Can I buy this of Amazon?
No, it’s only on Walmart
@@tjthedestroyer5335 im seeing it on eBay tho !

@@tjthedestroyer5335 ok thanks ! But also im in Canada , do you know how I could ship it here from the US?
Is there a way to remove and replace the graphics card with either a weaker or more powerful one? Just curious
Markgeaton - no, not in a laptop unfortunately. They are built into the motherboards
I think you sold me on this Laptop. Esp after watching the ASUS one you reviewed a little bit after this where you refenced this.,
How did you set your keyboard that way ? I have the 1650ti maybe it doesnt have that feature lol
Games on there like Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 will run great on this 👍
Do you still have the laptop? I wanted to see how this laptop performed on Apex Legends with the highest settings \ with FPS average
I guarantee it would hit 100+ without a doubt on max setting's
Should i buy this laptop?
Hey I wanted to buy a gaming labtop and was wandering if the 15” is good for a starter labtop , I want to have a good experience though and not have problems
I haven’t tried the 15” from them before. I have heard that the 15s run hotter (same i7 running at the same speeds in a smaller chassis) but it should still be a good deal.
I have a question, how fast are the fans while gaming?
Did you play games in turbo mode or gaming mode?
Thanks for this
How are the thermals ?
Ricardo Campos - not too bad, check out my other video on undervolting the CPU and overclocking the GPU ✌️
BTW do you know if there is a way to swap in a larger battery as an upgrade?
i know this comment was a while ago, but did you ever find out about a battery upgrade? How bad is the battery life? how long will it last?
Sean,
I just bought this the other day amazing. How do you create a restore disc? Also worth voiding warranty to add additional storage?
Thank you
OrbitalEvil 666 - I’d say it’s worth opening. In the US, you can’t be denied warranty because of a sticker. Best backup is probably just stick in a cheap old 2.5” HDD and clone the boot drive to it, then just hang onto it and you can always clone it back to a new disk.
@@TechWithSean Thank you. Here is a driver link also.
evooproducts.com/support.html
Thanks - I pinned that link in the comments, I know people have been looking for it.
Cant you create a restore to a USB drive??
The one I found is $1,199
This thing has to have some kind of malware pre-installed in it, if I walk in the room my evoo laptop will turn on... even when I first bought it - this thing stays on even when it's closed and is just constantly running background processes.
@@TechWithSean Thank you for explaining it so well. I really appreciate it! Thanks!
believe it or not, red dead redemption 2 doesn't require all that high of a refresh rate, maybe not the best of benchmark tests
Crap. They just raised the rollback price another $100. It's now $1200.
Go check now! It's $999
What price did you buy it for? It seems like it’s fluctuating a lot
I snagged it for $999 on thanksgiving or Black Friday, whenever it first dropped.
It’s back to $999 just FYI
Tech With Sean thanks, I was just waiting for the right time. Btw do you think the 1650 for $699 is a good deal as well ?
Tanmay - I haven’t tried it but probably. It looks way nicer and has a better screen than similarly-priced stuff like an Acer nitro or something.
Reviews on walmart says that is buggy software , the trackpad is too bad and typing on it is too loud . It’s only on their cases or on your too
wtf? this thing is only 1000...seems suspicious
Bryce Greene - jump on it before it’s gone, you can always return it if you don’t like it. It’s a crazy deal for the price, cheaper than some 1650 laptops
Its a brick I tell you that... I mean it looks cool, but 17.3'' for my taste is a huge laptop.. :/
The overall size is about what a 15.6” laptop was a couple years ago. That said, I do prefer the size and form factor of the 16” MacBook Pro.
I love mine. Its Awesome, i added 64gb on it!, it will take 64GB!. Only issue the battery is 1h30 on full speed. The screen is awesome. The keyboard is good. Excellent overall

@@TechWithSean HI again, is there software to change the keyboard to per key?
