    • @milesdavis607
      @milesdavis607 5 років тому +208

      I disagree strongly. First off Ted looks beyond out of place, being the only "mortal" at a table of two higher beings can do that to you. Ted is pure, without a doubt, but he is not God. Meanwhile, William is the devil because he is death on a white horse. He is without a doubt a caricature of evil. Ford is the creator. Ford is the beginning of both Ted and William's story line. In fact, he is the beginning of the whole show. I am no religious man at all, but that is plain as day to me.
      Just because Ford is just as cruel and evil - if not more so - than William, Ford is not directly causing the pain Westworld is causing. Much like God, he is allowing it to happen. If anything, he wants it to happen, to further his own creations. William detests it, but in the end, William is who he is because of Ford. And of course Ted was directly made by Ford.

      (SEASON 3 AND 4 SPOILERS) Not just that but even, if albeit accidentally and indirectly, possibly foreshadowing William's intervention with his past selves and his host's form in season 4 becoming a bigger and badder him than he could ever be. Its not out of the realm of possibility that Ford even knew all of what was going to happen the same way Bernard did in season 4 since it was the Sublime that ran all of the possible outcomes, and as far as we know the Sublime was around while Ford was still around too, so he couldve just had some hosts already in there running outcomes for the past few decades since Arnold's demise(since we know it takes around that time based on the 23 years it took Bernard to snap back into reality) and then command a host that accessed it to give him some most likely timelimes he can understand. Hell, Ford couldve been a host the whole time and just accessed himself, having the host that executed him shoot him right in the pearl.

    • @REDPUMPERNICKEL
      @REDPUMPERNICKEL Рік тому +2

      Yes, season one was all about becoming conscious.
      Self discovery is the name of the process for it is the self who is conscious.
      Humanity became conscious when
      the commanding voice of god,
      booming from the sky in times of stress,
      became internalized with the invention of the self concept.
      The self concept is what's discovered at the center of the maze.
      Pointless and destructive for anyone conscious to keep looking inward.

    Unpopular opinion: The Series lived through outstanding Anthony Hopkins a.k.a. Dr. Ford and died with him. Dr. Ford represented what Westworld once stood for: Philosophical dialogue, intriguing, complex but likeable characters and crazy twists. And without him, Westworld turned out to be only a shell of its former greatness.

      The first season was that of legend. Idk what happened and that’s the thing with tv shows. They capture lightning in a bottle then it gets loose afterwards. Other shows are the opposite. First season can be slow then in the following seasons it picks up. Stranger things is an example. First season: phenomenal. 2nd was mediocre at best. 3rd was better but still not there. Then they came with season 4 that was amazing.

    Everything in this scene is just fantastic. I can't praise it enough. These two veteran actors with such impressive roles...one essentially playing God and the other playing the Lucifer of this tiny world. The music at 0:36, quietly highlighting the gravitas of this meeting. Two titans drinking whisky and essentially sparing with each other. Quietly flexing their power. How from 2:00 Ford holds all the cards, knowing that the Man in Black is on a wild goose chase and doing nothing to dissuaded him. Giving away nothing when asked questions. And then from 3:11 how the Man in Black makes it clear that Ford is just the side-kick to the parks true genius...Ford's partner. Before mentioning the finances that keep Ford's world alive. Finishing with a demonstration of Ford's power of the hosts with the protection algorithms, with that sly smile at 3:58 - meaning he knows he's effectively invincible. And is then able to pickup the knife completely unopposed. It's all fantastic!

    At 1:40, Ford says "I admit I lack the imagination to even conceive of someone like you." The words indicate a compliment, but the look of amusement on his face betrays that what he really thinks is that the MIB is much too shallow and boring to be a character that he'd ever come up with. Next, the look on MIB's face shows us that he is confused, but that he can pick up on Ford's derision. This is acting at its very best!

      @@Sandouras No, I watched it again and the OP is right. You can only pick up on it because these two are such incredible actors. Ford's chuckle while he says it implies sarcasm or belittling. Kind of how an adult would talk to a child when saying something that the child didn't quite understand. Williams reaction is that of confusion and inquisition, he's picking up that Ford is toying with him but he's also trying to listen closely to what Ford says next so he might gain some hint as to what Ford's real goal is.

The producer is even relatives of Aleister Crowley and the main actress also practices Gnosis in real life. Very intresting but this show has a VERY, VERY deep and slightly overt meaning if your able to widen your world view. Such a good show. Okay if the theory that William is in fact the Man in Black (otherwise known as the multiple timelines), then I can completely understand his grudge towards Ford, Dolores, and especially Teddy. He'd be mad at Dolores for forgetting him, mad at Ford for allowing that to happen, and despise Teddy; because if you consider his role of keeping Dolores in her loop and the fact he's a carbon copy of William's chivalry towards Dolores, talk about adding insult to injury.
    I believe the MIB is trying to free the host by using extreme violence and constantly telling them how their world is just a game. Every time one of them acted outside their loop a flashback of him acted as a catalyst.

The producer is even relatives of Aleister Crowley and the main actress also practices Gnosis in real life. This scene means so much more In retrospect than it does in the context it was presented.
    You realize the only reason Ford was there was to check and see if whatever the hell William was up to was going to screw with his own carefully laid plans. As William was talking all tough and trying to be intimidating, Ford was sitting there deciding whether or not to have him killed (with a simple gesture). He was the one wild card that might pose a threat. And when he finds out that not only do they kind of want the same thing, but William is going about it by chasing a mirage into a dead end, he's like "Yeah! Sure. More power to ya. I think this scene greatly explains how fanboys can get so caught up in searching for meaning in their favorite pieces of media that when it doesn't quite fit their bill they become flustered by it yet still feel entitled to fulfillment.

      Agree! I noticed that a lot in the 1st season. There was a lot of criticism to "cheap" content on the entertaiment industry, you know like the storylines created by Lee Sizemore for example, as opposite to the ones created by Ford that had a deeper meaning and at the very least compelled you to use your brain

    The first line of the Clair de Lune poem (the poem that the piano song is based upon) is "Your soul is like a landscape fantasy". For Ford and the man in black, this rings especially true as they both revel in this fantasy world.I don't believe the song choice was unintentional.
    Also, Ford is imperfectly playing the song at the beginning.. A host would be doing it perfectly or much better.

  • @razzle1964

    Ford always maintained there would be those who can’t, or simply won’t, change. William never changed. Even William’s ‘facsimile’, created by Halores, was incapable of change. I can’t remember why this is important but, it is.

      exactly. when he told teddy “everything good and rotten” etc, this is who you have to thank. ford toasted william. william is one of the villains in teddy story. ford is responsible for that. he’s definitely a host.

    I just noticed. Ford plays a nice classical piece as they enter and he hears The Man in Black mock his creation and Ford says his character "betrays a certain anxiety." And as Ford leaves he snaps his fingers and a hokey extremely fast paced song plays. As if he's mocking The Man in Black and telling him to hurry along. Hurry on to your maze. Total Alpha love watching these two. I had hoped Teddy would grow perhaps from this scene but he became a lapdog in season two. I'm glad for season 1.
