I just bough an Outlaw and love it . Wanting hatches but worried about leaking . I want to add 2 gear tracks 2 the rear where the flat area is for like a motor . Don't think i want a motor but the tracks would allow me to add or swith to anything . Also added noodles to my seat incase it comes off . Know a guy who rolled and lost his seat . I want lights for incase also . Just finished 9 miles from dillards ferry to rush on the buffalo river in Arkansas ... love my boat . I weigh 320 plus gear .
The outlaw is great I love mine,it's a bit of a pain in the wind but overall a great kayak.if you plane on doing rails on the back I would recommend putting aluminium backing plates in the hull to mount through for added strength 💪👍
Thanks for the video and the tips. How has this particular hatch been working for you? Any Leaks? Also, what is the specific product or model hatch plate that you installed? Did you install the same model hatch plate in all three locations? Many Thanks!
The hatches have worked well I never did get around to do the third one yet.the only time I've had a little bit of water go in was a really rough day on the water during a tournament were the bow went completely underwater quit a few times but it wasn't much.as for the model it was just a generic one off of Amazon for $17can
Did the 6in work in the back?? I'm about to put a hatch in the back to install a Scotty anchor lock system...and a trolling motor mount later down the road.
I ended up installing the 5in in both the front and back and it works great! I am worried though about installing a hatch in the middle standing area. Does your outlaw give or bend more under your weight after installing the hatch or no change?
Sorry for the stupid question but you mentioned you would need a hole saw that’s 5 1/2”. Wouldn’t you need a 5” if it’s a 5” hatch? Great video btw. Thanks for taking time to show how to correctly do the install.
The hatch worked great in my outlaw, thanks! I love this kayak! Check out this alternative to the overly expensive perception saddle bags! ua-cam.com/video/hcfCnn0l96w/v-deo.html

Good thought on keeping the scraps for weld repairs later. My dumb ass definitely would have thrown them out and thought of that later haha.

Unfortunately no I ended up putting it in my mother in law's kayak. I probably could have made it work but I'd rather go with the manufacturer's size

No the interior dimension of the hatch is 5"(were the cap comes out) but to install the hatch the outer dimension is 5 and a 1/2
Not a silly question at all.Ands thanks for watching
Where did you get the hatch? Can't find a 5.5
Do you think the trigrip rivets made for kayaks would work as well as the screws?
Absolutely they would more than likely work better. Just don't forget the silicone
The hatch worked great in my outlaw, thanks!
