    Great tips! My first bad wreck, I landed hard on my side, hurt my shoulder and hip pretty bad. I thought a lot about how I would roll the next time; thought about it every ride. Well, about three weeks ago I had another wreck. Time seemed to slow down during the fall, and I thought, roll, roll, and sure enough I did a great roll and I only bent one finger backwards. I'm 62.

    Awesome tips, recently I had a bad nosedive going too fast, long story short, even after I was able to rollover, what really saved me from any injuries, was my wrist guards and helmet, both smashed into the concrete with brute force and I walked it out.

      Great to hear! Just getting started and seems like helmet and wrist guards are the two must-haves, elbow/knee pads seem like they might just get in the way more for learning but seem good for speed/trails later on

    My tip try to do judo roll (martial art) on your natural also switch stence. When warming up I do couple of after general body warm up. You can pratice it as warm up for any action action sport involving crahs even in water sport .... It help to fall smothly when you are not ready for it.

    The only disagreement i have with his is the idea of taking as many steps as you can. Might be okay for younger and more athletic folks but the older you are, the likely you are to mess up a knee or ankle joint beyond your second step. I try to decide if it is runoutable or not and if not, i'm setting up a roll by my second step.

    • @JakeLeary
      @JakeLeary 3 роки тому +2

      It sounds like you’re saying that running is worse for your body than falling

    • @robertschrammcomedy8740
      @robertschrammcomedy8740 3 роки тому

      @@JakeLeary At 52, out of control running or failed attempts at running can be. I'm easy. If I'm not 100% I can run it out, 2 steps to slow my roll and then a nice organized dive roll.

    • @p.patrickcamba2514
      @p.patrickcamba2514 3 роки тому +1

      I agree to some extent because once I tried to run out a nosedive but my legs couldn't keep up and I ended up bending my ankle awkwardly and straining my Achilles tendon. Two month recovery. Next time I used two steps to simply orient my body before dropping for a shoulder roll. That seemed to spread the impact across my body versus my more fragile ankles and knees. It's a split second call though so it will always depend on your situation. Keep floatin'!

    • @Ruggerschr
      @Ruggerschr 3 роки тому

      @@p.patrickcamba2514 I certainly have the bailing experience. You'll see an example of the 2 steps roll without any real attempt to run it out.

    I was not the greatest skateboarder and learned by falling a lot for three months. Eventually I development an instinct to fall properly. I am always horrified to see these snowboarders on onewheel locking their front foot perpendicular. That's a recipe for disaster. on the other hand, my diagonal foot placement often means disengaging the sensors.

    Dude help!!!
    So here's the thing. I just bought a well taken care of used pint thinking it would be easier for me to learn on.
    Let me give you some background. My boyfriend has an XR. Knows Noone willing to get a OW, he always complains about having not anyone good to ride with. He tried group rides and didn't click with the crowd.
    I have tried his xr I took months but started to be OK after a while.
    I'm athletic, a Zumba instructor even. Not onlt that but also a energy / light healer. When I get in this thing in filled with FEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I know fear is the worst place for me to ever be. I don't know what in my life or past lives happened to me to give me this fear. The boyfriend trys to be so patient. I'm just holding him back from riding to me and now it brings me to an angry place still filled with great fear.
    He just jumps on and floats. Wants to enter some of the races. He rocks this thing. Like it's his feet.
    Oh I forgot, I have skateboarded and owned a sb company with my x husband many years ago.
    I'm now 41. I have 3 boys who also ride circles around me now.
    How how how can learn to ride this like a normal person?
    I really hate myself everything anyone talks about going to ride now and getting me to learn better. Oh. Ps I feel like I'm glued to the board when I'm supose to be Practicing Jumping off backwards with both feet at the same time period. I feel like I can't move and when I force mussel I pull my knee out or something dumb. LEARY HELP ME!!!!

    • @TheFloatLife
      @TheFloatLife  3 роки тому +2

      How much time have you spent riding it holding onto someone's arm? Usually I just have people ride holding onto my arm for a few minutes and the fear slowly goes away as you start to understand how the board works. A walking stick could help at first too!

  • @ronmon404
