    My 76 year old dad got a EUC recently in an attempt to keep up with me on the Onewheel, he's already killing it doing long rides. He fell a lot in the beginning, but he's built like a tank and just stuck to it.

      Yeah, he's a little different than your average 76 year old.
      Edit: Follow up comments: "I checked out part of the UA-cam for your UA-camr and his learning curve with his EUC. The only difference is it took me 40 to 50 hours over two months to do what he can do in an hour; but who cares I can do it. In spite of slow reaction time is due to the aging carcass. Im feel so late at all this stuff like I’ve been under a rock, saw a dude couple of months ago on a xr, I looked into it but I figured it was to mutch money, then I saw and order a meepo v3 a month ago because of the price and realized I’m not getting that thing for a while, so I got my lady to watch sum of your videos and I convinced her to get a one wheel pint with me sense you can do payments on it, we ended up getting our son one too, can’t wait till Monday. Re: jump mount: Today I got pretty good at giving the tail of my board a flick, letting it spin 360, stopping it with the same foot, and then jump mounting. It's a super easy progression to the jump mount and looks that much more impressive.

    I'm a new subscriber and I'm really enjoying your videos, Jimmy. I have ordered a OneWheel Pint (sorry) and am extremely excited to ride it when it finally gets to me by 2021. Haha. As a longtime Surfer and Skateboarder, the OneWheel really appeals to me as another fun Board-sport. The EUC looks like fun, but I can't imagine it taking off like the OW. Similar to how In-Line Skating became significantly less popular and almost "nerdy" to do, It seems to me like the EUC falls into that category. I'm all for people having fun and I wouldn't be against trying it, but it doesn't speak to the hip, socal boardriding lifestyle. I could obviously be wrong, but the OneWheel just seems cooler. Keep up the videos. All the best, Greg.

    Jimmy you have lost all credibility highlighting a comment talking about losing credibility. Regarding the tips, the jump mount does look cool indeed however the old frugal man in me doesn't like the idea of the wheel electronics having to surge like that to "catch" me. I have wanted to practice the 180 and seeing this encourages me more to do so. I'm not sure if I agree with Jorge's prediction, unless you have a unsustainable desire for speed that an EUC can offer.

    • @freshlycharged
      @freshlycharged  5 років тому +2

    • @jorgebatista425
      @jorgebatista425 5 років тому

      Hey Duf. An unsustainable desire for speed is not necessary. All it takes is the need to go just bit faster since you get used to the max speed very quickly. Also, most people like a bit of variety or they get bored. Combine those ingredients with a little disposable income and you end up with lots of wheels and other toys. Case in point, Marty Backe, you, chooch, Chris (house of job), Eddie Moy, Tishawn Fahie, me just to name a few. I think Jimmy already has three Onewheels. He can surely justify three EUCs of differing speeds and models. I stand by my prediction :)

    im new to the one wheel community and been riding but after like 10 minutes my calfs are burning a lot. does this have anything to do with my shoes or stance or just not being in shape?

    I see some people teach 180s a bit differently, more like a very very tight edge turn on steroids. What do you think?

    The 180 is what destroyed my elbow. You lift up, the friction lessened, the wheel spunn up (cuz I wasn't leveled I think), and when you land the Onewheel rockets away leaving you behind... Be careful with that one

    I dont think jumping on the board is good for the durability of the board and the wheel. Sure, the onewheel passes trough way worse stuff but why risk it when you can get on it nicely without pushing it?

    Jorge Batista's prediction wasn't aimed at me but after only 6 months, I've upgraded my EUC, sold my e-skateboard and one e-scooter. I'm contemplating canceling my Pint order in favor of saving for whatever new wheel I may want in the future.
    Update: My Pint has shipped, so I can't cancel it now.

    I would add a quick stop to the list. It makes you look like you've been riding for ages, it is amazing safety maneuver and it looks cool because you can sometimes ride the tail for a bit. It's IMO the best move on onewheel as it combines safety, style and usefulness.

      I learned that my riding style wasn't appropriate for the speeds I was riding at. I leaned over the board with my hips when i'm going fast because my legs start to give out and shake. The board drops my weight forward and that's when I start to nosedive. Keeping that s shape stance with t rex arms fluid and ready to go is going to be my next stance when I recover from my injuries and feel safe enough to get back on.

    Jimmy, some great tips. I've been wanting to learn the 'jump mount' technique but I'll be honest. I'm a bigger buy and I haven't' seen any guys around 210-215lbs use that technique regularly. I'm guessing your around 160-170lbs (camera may add a few pounds...LOL). I'm actually afraid I might break the board so steer clear of a lot of this stuff....I'm more of a cruiser anyway...but good stuff. If anyone here is around my weight and does the jump mount 'regularly' would love to hear your experience as well.

    As with most board sports, spins are as much science as they are art. The mechanics of 180s and 360s are 3 factors used in conjuction with each other in 5 or more possible combinations. The mechanics of your particular 180 is (rotation + counter rotation) Rotation: The process of deweighting the board while you are rotating your upper body, pulling the board in the same direction. Counter rotation: The process of rotating your upper body after deweighting the board, pushing the board in the opposite direction. Something to consider: (turn + counter rotation) may require more cerebellar training but requires less than half the physical effort of a rotational 180. A rough surface results in a larger radius with an inertial but no additional effort would be spent.
