    Wow you are so lucky. I am building mine but it will take me about a year to finish saving up for mine. I got it crashed for a ridiculous price from a good friend and I have to fix it and buy electronics for it. This will be a good video to rely on but I have to go one step further and re-grease the transmission as I need to replace the top transmission half.

      It definitely can take some time to build a model like this especially at how much it cost. I do the same, I will buy the kit and then I will buy the Servos and then the motor and ESC and so on and once I have everything ready I will start the build!

    I liked the idea of wiping excess retaining compound with alcohol to avoid getting it into the bearing. I do try to tighten the 4 servo bolts in a cross pattern, though.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Рік тому

      I always try to wipe the excess off so that way it cannot seeping to the bearings and create grittiness same with Loctite! You can tighten it down and an X pattern but it really doesn’t make a difference just because the servo is going down to a machined flat surface so no matter what it will bolt down flat.

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Also what do you think about too much Loctite. I noticed on some you had the bolt prepared and on another you applied directly onto it. I keep hearing there is a problem with too much Loctite because the Loctite squeezes out of the bolt through the head. What I do is use a plastic bag (some SAB kits and spares later I have a LOT) and dip the bolt into Loctite then roll the bolt on a clean part of plastic to remove the extra. This will leave the threads visible with Loctite just in the middle. I used to also apply directly on the bolt. Don't know what is best I have just gotten used to the "roll" method. I also apply Loctite directly on the thread for parts like the tail bell and head spindle and avoid it on the bolt altogether so that it can't accidentally bump a bearing with Loctite as I run the bolt through.

    Where are you buying iKon Flybarless controller? They seem to be sold out everwhere.

      Don’t worry! There will be plenty of build series coming on the channel! I have enough models to build for myself and others to keep videos coming for a long time lol as I’m building this helicopter I’m building another one and filming two different build series at the same time! So unfortunately iKon FBL Or out of stock due to manufacturing issues and it looks like it will be another month before they are back in stock. Luckily the models I am building right now or for customers and they purchased them prior to them being out of stock but personally I need four of them to finish up some personal models of mine that are just sitting because I can’t get them lol

    The head screws that keep the feathering shaft in sucks. Try to take one out and immediately the head of the screw snapped. So be carefully to those that want to check the head screws if they are Loctite.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Рік тому

      I believe those screws are held in with retaining compound. You have to be very careful! I always heat my screws up prior to removal just in cases of! Don’t want to strip or break anything.

    Great video as usual man. Where can I get the servo centering tool that you use? Also, can you explain why the centering line is not 90 degrees to the side of the servo case.

      That’s a stock SAB tool that comes in the kits, I believe they come in all SAB kits 580 and up.

    I just bought a goblin maverick 800 what exactly do I need to purchase apart from what already comes with the helicopter?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Рік тому

      Everything lol the helicopter is only a kit so you will need all electronics. Servos, motor, ESC, FBL and battery 12s 5000-6000mAh as well as loctite, and tools.

    What is with American videos where they always say "I am going to go ahead and X" or "I went ahead and X"? Cant find a video where this is not said every 2 minutes for the entire video?.
