Great stuff. My friend and I would fish that area on plastics back in the 90's with 6lb test and light fishing gear. We would catch the limit on legal Bass and some times catch two legal Halibut with in two hours. Great area for fishing.
Another rad sesh, the drone footage definitely took your videos to the next level. Its dope to watch you kill it out there bro! Time to get my PA back on the water.
Great video, I always find myself going back thru your library and rewatching in an attempt to soak up all that knowledge your putting out there. I'm trying to refine my fishing quiver but with the current shortages things are "tough". Am I correct in thinking you tend to stay away from rods longer than 7'-3"? what are your thoughts on that?
@@WARBAITS I try and support the local guys up here in Ventura as much as possible. Erick's and Hyun's are pretty much my go to shops. The Phenix selection has been pretty well picked over and my go to rod, a TMC-X76M 10-20LB rated for 1/2 -1oz fishes better way at the upper range if not well passed it. Looking for something a bit softer for all the lighter heads in my box. Always looking for an excuse to buy more tackle, LOL!
They were eating! I need to try out mission bay one of these days. Can you go over your camera set up on the kayaks one of these days because i see power going to your go pro and i like it!
Why do you seem to go with heavier gear. The XH seems like it would be super stiff for a swim jig setup? I will have to check out Fast Lane Kayaks? I've been thinking about picking up a kayakThanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
My number one goal for Spotted Bay Bass is to hook and land the World Record. That is a 5-7lb fish. A stiff rod like a MH, H or XH will do this. For their size, Bay Bass are extremely powerful and very crafty. A heavier weight rod can control the fish better. [Stiffer rod] I would consider a stiff rod a MH, H or XH. I consider a soft rod any thing under a MH (for bay bass). When fishing a soft rod for bay bass, there is too much play in the rod and this can cause many lost bites. On a hook set with a softer rod, there may not be enough force to drive the hook. With a stiffer rod, a hooks can be a 45 degree lift and the fish is on. Bay Bass bite so fast, you have to hook them quickly. With the soft rod, there is too much time lost and I've found they get off easier. Also, they bite and dart back to the grass, heavier rod helps get them out of cover. With all that being said, the Phenix Feather 73XH is definitely not a XH. I bought the rod sight unseen. The action is more MH with a moderate taper. It's not at all the best rod I've used for Swimjig and I'm currently shopping for something a bit stiffer. Hope this helps -AA
@@WARBAITS I have a feather heavy and it definitely is over rated but feels awesome and handles up to 1.5oz nice. Paired it with a concept Z and can fish it all day. Have you heard of the potential record spotty caught up north of San Diego in one of the lagoons?
@@KalaniThames the current World Record Spotted Bay Bass is from Mission Bay at 4.92lbs, caught by kayak fisherman Paul Weintraub. So there is always hope that the WR is in MB. What scent to you put on your baits? I only use calico cocktail but tired of buying the little 2oz bottles I seen in a videos of your that you had on of those big 8oz bottles I know it doesn’t come in calico cocktail scent so what do you use?
Limited time here in sd where the go to spot to get on some bass here if your trying from shore? I know no one wants to give up their spot but maybe one that's not to secret?

For Spotties, I use rods from 7’ to 7’6”. Mostly MH power. Where have you been looking for rods?

Great video. 👊
That was a very productive day Afran! Are you have a booth at the Fred Hall show, Long Beach?
We will have some product with one of the tackle shops, not sure which one yet. See you there!

also curious on the XH phenix. I would like to know the benefits you experience fishing with heavy gear.
Love the vids, love the baits.
Thanks!!

Love the videos, just picked some gear up at east county bait and tackle! Are you ex military by any chance?
Where can i pick up that underspin in SD? Also, what the water temp out there? Can't wait to lip a spottie soon!

Mission Bay from the rocks or San Diego from any of the rock areas. Eel grass is key
@@WARBAITS thanks man
Would love to fish with you one day.
What is your spinning reel setup?
7ft m / Revo X 20 / 8lb braid
Dope
I had a feeling that spot was a bit stacked...just bad from shore though.
Passed by the area today. Did not bite. That's fishing!
what brand rod is on the revo s, an where can i get it?
Unfortunately I don't know the rod blank brand. I bought it from a bargain bin at a shop, $10. It is a 7ft M extra fast taper, graphite.
When you gonna do some fresh water again bro??
Thanks for the question, I have been thinking about fresh water soon. I miss it. It's a different game for sure!
WARBAITS FISHING your fresh water videos are sick as hell to man you should do more!
🌲shad?

I am a grass bass too. to the knot
