For a ship that can efficiently carry engineering, I highly recommend the Kashino Class Munition Ships. A single one of them can carry up to 210 engineering and it really helps with leveling frontline airfields quickly and keeping them supplied
Loving this series, your storytelling and editing has definitely improved over the last year and it really adds to the videos! The new update and mod along with your decision to not include submarines nearly as much keeps this a fresh series. Keep up the good work Wolfpack o7

I wish there was a little bit of submarine gameplay, they shouldn't be a main focus but it would be fun to see some sub action, especially convo raiding lol
Please dont. Submarines are OP and can just kill every capital ship without ever being in danger. Not having to wary about dangerous ships because you can always sink them with subs takes out tension and feels cheap.

Have you ever tried to get your torpedo bombers and/or dive bombers to all attack at the same time as each other? When you run them in in little groups of three or four it seems to let the enemy ships concentrate their fire. In a big group, it might overwhelm the defences and you may lose less planes.
Loving this series so far but as an Indonesian I do have to both laugh and cringe a bit on your pronunciation of the cities of the Dutch East Indies (Which is ofc now Indonesian cities), your Surabaya though is excellent. Just a tip, we don't have any 'ae' to pronounce any As, we use that for 'ei'. So for example Balikpapan it should be Baaleekpaapaan, all As pronounced like in 'Java'.
I have learned to Recon.... everywhere, the computer is sneaky, even if I am winning, with kills, it resupplies and builds basses up quickly, then winning with a 5 air field, out of nowhere... lol

Well, I guess this why you don't damaged ships with fires unattended, and Hibiki would've easily survived if it weren't for that magazine explosion, too. It's a minor grievance in the big picture, though, I've always believed that you could suppress/beat the ABDACOM fleet with 3 CAs (preferably Takaos), with some CL and DD escort in a surface fight. That being said, it's fun to see the IJN bring out the capital ships, because the way I see it the IJN gets serious once they bring out the flattops, especially the Kido Butai.
Great fun as always, with nail-biting action. I agree that surface warfare is where the game shines. My humble take on getiing the solution up in poor visibility is early identification and lots of starshells from secondaries and destroyers, often renewed. The Japanese can't compete with enemy radar unless they have overwhelmingly superior firepower, and even then without sight on target they suffer unnecessary damage and loss. Gambatte kudasai!
Fantastic episode! Since you are reaching a bit in that direction anyway, I would like to draw your attention to the port of Dili, the green star on the island of Timor. This is a neutral port that might contain some supplies that you could access. I know how starved you are for supplies in this mod, so any additional source could be useful.

Every episode is better than the last. Love the shots of the ships in action. I think you could've avoided a lot of damage by maneuvering infront of the North Hampton. Their damaged turrets would not be able to engage you. Keep it il man, the upload rate has been awesome.
Ah this game. Torpedoes are duds when I am shooting and never a dud when I get hit. I actually rage quit it after I lost a huge convoy today which of course I put 0 escorts to and sent it next to an enemy base lol.
Given the supply situation here's hoping the allied losses start to pay off and you get the bases quickly. It won't help to have the biggest and baddest blokes around, if they can't bite :-D

I think that a « hammer and anvil » two-sides torpedo attack could be both more impressive and get statistically better chances to sink ships ( even though you sink them easily enough lol ). It would give us awesome footage of many planes attacking from port and starboard angles, better than slow wave by waves ! Also… when dive bombers ?
on the second episode (i think) i commented my beef with this game was that it was an air strike simulator. since then its been so many fleet engagements. if it was a jinx, it was a good one!
Going by all the footage I've seen of you playing this game, level-bombers seem to have a ludicrously high hit-rate against surface ships relative to their real performance during the war.

It’s kind of like a dark, alternate version of your last playthrough of the game. I love games like this, but I do not have the mental wherewithal to play them myself. Just too much happening too quickly. I’d need to have a pause button and 6x the time to try and figure things out. And yes… the game loves to give you irony, it seems. “I think we just made it out!” INTERCEPTION!!! “We’re laying smoke, so should make us harder to hit!” EXPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOSION!!! …ironically, no Megumin in sight.
Good fight from the destroyers and the Houston! If you roleplay a bit, you see some extremely heroic actions of many crews during Wolfpack's playthroughs! If you think that some pixel captain on them had decided to send his pixel men to certain doom to save their pixel comrades in other ships... Well, it all gains a certain feel. Can't quite shake it off, especially with the shots of ships going down. In fact this game is extremely brutal if you know your naval combat.
Funny, in reality USS Houston was actually sunk by Mogami and Mikuma as well, so (almost) historically accurate :)

There were also some unfortunate IJA transports that were caught in the line of fire.
Being aggressive with destroyers is absolutely what they were designed for. So no worries, Wolfpack. Be aggressive with them.
If you fail you will still be able to blame it on the Army, so still a win.

With how inaccurate level bombing ships was, the smoke just might have thrown them off. They did hit after all.
The smoke might have provided better cover had the ships turned with the wind and steamed into it rather than away from it.

A fleet of destroyers to act as fast transports has served me very well in the past. Once you have some spare command points perhaps.
I was really hoping the Houston was going to escape and come back to haunt you again.
With a speed of only 12 knots, it would have been impossible for it to escape.

It would definitely be more equal... i love this game, but it seems just always to be on easy mode. The AI just cant compete with a semi-decent player

Hitting the same side means the ship becomes unstable and rolls over.

Seems like as soon as you split the targets the solution goes through the sink. Which is only logical.

You should have just let Houston live. She made it through the initial airstrikes and almost survived this engagement.
