During World War II, ABDACOM (American-British-Dutch-Australian Command) was a short-lived military alliance formed in early 1942 to coordinate the defense of Southeast Asia against the advancing Japanese forces. It comprised military forces from the United States, Britain, the Netherlands, and Australia.
However, due to various challenges such as limited resources, communication difficulties, and the overwhelming strength of the Japanese forces, ABDACOM faced significant setbacks. The alliance was unable to effectively coordinate its efforts, and its member nations suffered major defeats, this provides an opportunity to rewrite the course of history and reverse the tides of adversity.
The Mod incorporates a number of new ships and a new map with two campaigns of the Dutch East Indies:
Allied Campaign - The ABDACOM Defensive.
Japanese Campaign - Centrifugal Offensive. - Ігри
“Naka, what’s your situation?”
*boom*
Those darned enlisted Japanese Sailors smoking in the magazine rooms during combat
Ah yes... The Emperor protects... Though having air cover doesn't hurt either. 😂😂
"Something seems to be bloody wrong with our ships today"
There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today!
Admiral Beatty agrees
"and something wrong with our system." everyone forgets the second half of that quote.
Honestly, you taking losses makes the game better to watch.
Yes
Agree
Agree, though some are just kinda unnecessary
True, its one of the main reasons I fall off watching some of his series. He just dogwalks the AI its not much of a challenge.
@@CecilioSprayetti Same.
I'm just an Indonesian here, casually watching my country getting torn apart by the Allied forces and the Empire of Japan. Hearing city names so familiar to my ears getting naval bombardment to pieces.
I'm enjoying this series brother, keep it up!
May Nusantara reign supreme!
If only all territory in the malay sphere of culture and geography would finally combine, then indonesia had the potential to actually challenge china and america in terms of commerce and military.
P.S: i love indonesian cinema, though i have to ask:
In all films with Iko Uwais they depict the cities with a lot of criminal activity.
Is there really so much crime in the bigger cities, or is it just an exaggeration by the film-makers?
@@SamuelSamuel-zx9mu We don't have cartels here and it is not easy to get guns in here so most robbery cases here are being done only by using melee weapons. So its just movie exaggeration.
But you can bring a knife or a sword as self defense tool. Just a year ago there was a case where two robbers was found dead after trying to rob a farmer on his way home very late at night. The farmer was carrying a Klewang (a type of traditional sword commonly used in Indonesian martial art) with him, he said it was for self defense. That means some Indonesian in the country side are basically living like a samurai, always carrying a sword to protect himself.
Looks like HMAS Canberra sailed out to deliver some payback for their earlier losses, at least she went down swinging.
Since the Allies clearly aren't playing around anymore, and you're going to come into a large number of command points, maybe rebuilding that task force around a Kongo class battleship wouldn't hurt?
A kongo would be strong enough to take on the few remaining Allied heavy hitters left in the theatre whilst be light and nimble enough to keep up with a task force of cruisers and destroyers. Not to mention she'd make an excellent platform to bombard enemy ports and airbases
I see your battle group decided to cosplay as the grand fleet during the battle of jutland
Magazine go boom
Y’know, seeing 3 ships of your fleet all sunk from unlucky magazine explosions, one has to wonder how Vice Admiral David Beatty or Admiral John Jellicoe didn’t throw a fit after Jutland.
Love the Jutland reference
I do as well.
Bruh, you're already suffered far bigger losses than Japanese did in this period.
The best laid plans of mice and men never survives contact with the enemy. About time the Allied AI puts the screws to our commerad Wolfpack345
The only criticism that I got for this engagement is you sent your task force to an area with known allied air cover without air cover of its own.
Got complacent when you saw those freighters score with their lottery tickets.
That is all, carry on.
I feel like the relatively close range nature of the engagement is the main reason for the losses. Even though armor is greatly negated at ~10 kms, I feel like Mogami just got really unlucky when engaging the Kent class, and I suspect the Brooklyn focused down the DDs first causing them to sink and then straight up overwhelmed Naka in a gun duel.
The unfortunate thing is that all the Sendai class CLs are now going to be illegally salvaged in the next 80 years.
TBF, a Brooklyn at close range is bad news for anyone.
Illegally salvaged? Explain.
@@twotailedavenger Long story short, there's been a serious issue of divers illegally salvaging ship wrecks (which are deemed by their countries of origin as war graves) for the past few decades. For example, Prince of Wales no longer has her propellers, and Exeter's wreck had been destroyed in 2016.
I fully agree with the range issue. IJN CLs are basically unarmored to begin with, but the range was only just over 3000m. Brooklyns have 15 155mm guns. Naka was responding with only 6 (broadside) 140mm guns. Outgunned 5:2 with better armor and with guns that have a 20% better penetration rate, Naka wasn't going to live in any kind of a 1 v 1 gunduel. IJN CLs are better suited going after DDs not anything heavier. I really really enjoy Wolf's WoTS video, but when I saw him advance Naka when already at 8500m, I actually cringed and said, "There goes Naka."
@@adamtruong1759 wdym Exeter is still around.
De Ruyter was lifted off the damn seabed. Peron was gone before her wreck was officially discovered.
Maybe we can just say that after last episodes ammo problems, your captains adopted some less than safe methods of storing a bit more ammo
Fits the Jutland-esque title
Nice video as always Wolfie!! One thing to consider: put together a small group (3 is sufficient) of submarines, not to conduct strikes (which are still possible) but to transport 180 troops to Soerabaya. The reason for this is that those 180 can hold out for 3-4 days typically, but supplies erode as 5% daily, making such commando raids useful in suppressing the ability of the AI to upgrade a base because it often lowers the number of supplies needed to upgrade below requirements.
Sorry, I should provide an example. At 5% daily, if Soerabaya has 4000 units of supply, after 3 days of combat this 3430. If there's a 4th day, the supplies there become 3258. A regular stream of commando troops can easily push down the supplies at an enemy location.
(Edit: 5% not 15%)
He doesn't want to use subs that much this time idk if u have seen previous vids
@@mattbier7341
Didn't say he had to use 'em for sinking stuff. If he's against that, he can use them to conduct commando raids against AI locations for the purpose of attriting supplies.
Better call him Wolfpack, otherwise it sounds like you're adressing some idiotic furry.
The definition of insanity is sending your light cruisers charging at the enemy alone over and over again and wondering why they get sunk.
Mhm
IJN light cruiser does not have the firepower to do gunfight against one on one
Some people act as if you taking any loses or making any mistakes is absolutely unfathomable. But only a allied curb stomping “THE SERIES” isn’t that fun to watch as well.
I enjoyed this video. Mistakes were made but what admiral doesn’t make mistakes
It does seem like the IJN ships suffer magazine detonations pretty often in surface battles. I've had battles where 5 of their 10 ships were destroyed by magazine detonations and I usually see at least 1 in others. It's especially common for their destroyers.
Though, if you micromanage the damage control efforts, you can save ships that go up if you can keep them from getting shot more. The key is to contain the fires to the already destroyed areas before pushing in to put them out entirely. Any further flooding CANNOT be allowed. I like to make a line of DC teams across the beam and push forward (or backwards if its the aft magazine) slowly while making sure fires dont last long enough to damage another compartment enough to flood. Deck fires arent that important to contain initially, but can cause fires to spread past containment, so you gotta watch them.
I've had several of my ships go up like that, but I've lost very, very few. Almost always destroyers.... And 1 USS Massachusetts. Big Mamie was a trooper and she made it home. She just got unlucky in a gun duel between her whole class+ USS Washington vs a Yamato class and a Hizen class (modded ship).
20:06 - Noooo! Not the True Lady! 😢
22:52 - Fubuki-chan did her best, and will now be enshrined at Yasukuni. 😢
28:13 - The Idol of the Fleet joins her sisters in the afterlife. 😢
Damn you, now I'm feeling bad and loading up Kancolle again.
Lone survivor Hibiki wasn’t so lucky this time.
being more aggressive/careless with the lighter ships is both depressing and more interesting for content, whenever, i play WoTS, I usually end up keeping my destroyers at distance and close to the heavy hitters to serve as screens, when i do detatch them for torpedo runs, its usually as a group with a light cruiser leading the detachment engaging from a completely different direction
That was a brutal battle Wolf. I think you are right about the long term consequences for the Allies in terms of ships available. Also, I do believe I heard some genuine despair in your voice when Mogami had the mag explosion.
11:19 HNLMS Tromp was technically a destroyer, but because of her size, one might confuse her for a light cruiser.
I mean... she was kinda like a destroyer on steroids just in general, but minus the speed, right?
The heaviest fight so far... wow - what a beating!
Great co-ordination with your air assets in that battle. Damn those magazine hits! You had 'em running in the end though. Damn tough fight. Luv it!
Someone needs to do like a captain's log for Mikuma. About what happened this episode. Id imagine some worda will be said about the survivability of the IJN ships.
Now you mentioned getting a carrier. I know its a bit far off especially after that but it won't hurt to plan ahead a little bit. Can we have a look at what carriers are available to you?
You should prioritize fighting fires and flooding in compartments that are not destroyed. In case of heavy cruisers you can use 3 damage control parties as firewall that slowly moves towards bow, while remaining 2 fight fires on deck. It makes no sense to fight fire from inside because it can spread to healthy compartments towards stern. You could stop the fire with more micromanagement of damage control, but considering her prebattle damage she might still be scuttled after fight.
This is still a great series to see so many surface engagements. I believe the game was designed more for this anyway. Thabks for this series, it is better to see more of a mix than just subs and air attacks.
Nice reference to the Battle of Jutland
Or am I thinking of the Bismarck?
it is infact a battlecuisers of Jutland refrence. "There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today" after 2 of Beattys cruisers exploded with almost all crew lost
@@magnum6763 Thought so. I remember it from Dan Carlins Hard Core History. " Blueprint for Armageddon "
Speed will be Her Armor!!
Given the successful engagements earlier on, I think this was bound to happen at some point. :-/ A bit risky situation if there is a counter-offensive being prepared e.g., for Singapore. Here's hoping them losing Brooklyn is likewise throwing things at allied end back a step or two.
BAR FIGHT!!!!! Peanut shells on the floor - lghts out!!! OMG (perhaps switching from "Full" to "Narrow" on your guns might have helped)
Whew, HELL of a battle, @Wolfpack345 - Each side took extremely similar losses, at least when measured by aircraft lost and tonnage sunk. DEFINITELY deserves a name!
I'm thinking:
- The Battle of the East Java Sea
- The Battle of Cape Silat
- The Battle of Cape South
- The Naval Battle of Banjarmasin
...Also open to suggestions, of course =)
An episode title like this suggests a lot of sailors are going to live some very interesting times.
I just wanted to point out that you have to turn off the "Auto target flak" button to get your ships to stop engaging aircraft. Otherwise, they will keep retargeting aircraft after you tell them to stop.
Nice David Beatty Easter egg reference there. I wonder if this version of IJN Wolfpack served in WW1 as Japanese naval attaché at Jutland?
Good to see some more even battles. True it's always nice to have a sure win but that's boring, something these episodes are not! Keep 'em coming!
I just started chuckling on the 3rd mag explosion... damn man, horrible luck, excellent effort though!
Think your ships are trying to tell you something "submarines needed" 😆Jolly good show old bean, keep up the good work 🙂
Those magazine explosions. Ouch
Poor Mogami. Actually poor Mikuma, losing her only sister. I think you should be able to replace her combat capabilities with either a Takao-class or either of Suzuya or Kumano, heavy cruisers are relatively replaceable.
My absolute favorite series. Sorry for the losses but you got to figure luck turns away sometimes. Can't wait to see how you come out of this encounter and go forward.
I wanted to thank you for the content you create and that it is consistent with the games presented.
As Admiral Jellicoe said during the Battle of Jutland in 1916:"Something's wrong with our bloody ships!"
You pretty much threw away one flight of Nells, out of the three flights, because you didn't increase the speed from the initial half speed setting. The other two flights you increased to full speed. Later you saw through the binoculars how those slow flying ones were taken out of the sky before even dropping the torpedoes, I believe, though it could have been any aircraft, but they came from the correct direction to be the slow ones.
I rarely ever throw my torpedo bombers in piece meal. That usually results in higher than necessary losses. You always want to spread out AAA. Once Canberra was down, the Nells should've all been sent against Boise. I admire Wolf's trying to run a battle in full realtime, but a 1-player game is basically simulating hundreds of people making simultaneous decisions. I always "appreciate the pause button."
Having the air attack and surface engagement happen at the same time probably ended up doing more harm than good, salvaged only by the AI running its ships into each other.
The Japanese naval design philosophy of the day was to pack the absolute maximum firepower onto available displacement. Unfortunately for their crews, lack of ability to absorb damage was the trade off.
You know, I saw those PBYs on the tac map and saw what was coming... But your cruiser would have ennded up scuttled anyway, so it wouldn't have changed much.
There was a firefiiiight! this was glorious!
Watching this video made me think of the battle of Jutland, even without the references to it below.
I do like your sense of humor, go get them Wolf! Great video, thank you very much. 😊
The Emperor will not pleased? lol
Wow that was prob 1 of the best episodes I've seen u do on wots, I glad it wasn't all 1 way. Let's hope there's more scenes like that. U definitely making this campaign the most fun so far
From my play with WoTS, IJN Light cruiser lack of the fire power to one on one with US latest light cruiser on gun fight.
You did say you were going into it with a full compliment of ammunition. Full Magazines and all that.
"Mikuma Mogami, it means no worries, for the rest of your days!"
*lots* of worries - FIFY 😜
I'm honest I love this game and you're videos Wolfpack
I like this way best. More realistic
Wow, this was an intense battle. Love it!
Tightly fought and great fun.
15:46 I’ve had a couple of ships receive mag explosions and survive, though usually they’re DDs, particularly the USS Selfridge for some reason.
Enjoy your work very much.
Thank you for doing it.
great ep! nice to see you doing more manual fires with youre torpedos.
Intense battle! Great episode!
Your gameplay of "War on the sea" is a joy to watch. Another epic fight.
F for Mogami, Elephant Lady, Potato and 2-4-11 Idol
good to see the KC community here
Tough fight, very entertaining
Nice Jutland reference in the title!
"There's something wrong with our blasted ships today!" - Wolfpack345
Oh yes please, keep em coming.
5:50 YES BROTHER!
That massacre reminds me of a fierce fight a had in Ult. Admiral Dreadnaught where i managed to loose 3 DDs 3 CLs and recieved a brutal hit on my BB, while i was fighting against 3 DDs and 2 CLs...sad day :D
thx for the Video. always fun to watch!
Finally a real battle!!
And things had been going so good, up to this point.
Ah, Mogami and losing her bow, name a more iconic duo
Also, the Brooklyn class making good on their nickname of "Machine Gun Cruisers"
Mogami and Mikuma when something goes terribly wrong, and one of them sinks in the process.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to change direction and speed once bombers drop their load?
This is a brutal episode but it’s all the more engaging to see your game go like mine sometimes!
That must have been brutal.
What a bloodbath!!!
There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today.
David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty
Did they not learn from the British to keep blast doors to the magazine's closed?
Thank you! 🫡🫡🫡
indeed a Pyrrhic Victory...
I wonder what kind of trouble (if any) Langley will cause you once she appears.
Great video
Ah yes very good!
A great excitng episode today
I think that all streamers playing this game, should at least go and see a real museum ship in the states, to get some sort of idea to the ships size, especially DD's and CL's. This will give the streamer a better idea as to why they aredifficukt to be bombed due to their short beam width, and also why their guns were relatively low damage against larger cruisers and BB's
Time to put up some "no smoking" signs
A short while after watching this video, a pair of binoculars struck me in the head from somewhere.
Love your phrase "completely honest" makes me wonder if at times you are eing only partially honest
Crushing!
Yes, it's significant 10:58
One of the fell things I dislike about this game is how inaccurate player ships are with there salvos, to the point where when I'm playing I resort mostly to manual fire on my flagship
Might be time for the heavy hitters
I love his intros
Just brutal.
Another hugely entertaining vid'. What a battle. A question if I may. On the strategic map, what are the black squares south of Celebes please? Shoals maybe?
I am not too well versed in this, but was curious. Can you take control of a single plane and fly it right into a capital ship? Just wondering. If you're going to lose a few planes anyway, why not just try going Divine Wind on them and see how much damage one plane can do. You should have a good chance of hitting the ship
Watching this in Singapore 🎉
You're missing the Episode Number (7) in the title ^^ Great video as always, keep up the great work!
I'm starting to think magazine explosions are a bit too common.
If Wolfpack didn't have bad luck, he'd have no luck at all
Great battle.
Id love to see you use Yamato and some of the famous Aircraft Carriers!
