Hi Cecilia, We have a 4 yr old Bernese Mountain dog and I can appreciate your Grim's friskiness and furriness! They are simply here to be loved. Hello from California.
Having inside plants may be a learning process. I’m very good at growing outdoor gardens but for some reason I always tend to over or under water my indoor plants. They’re just not as tough as outdoor plants. So don’t be too hard on yourself as you learn what plants you’re good at keeping
i have been there two months ago, and it was so amazing. when i arrived half of the mountains were full of snow and the next day the whole town was full of snow, so i saw longyearbyen without snow and with snow. I definitely recommend the tour to pyramiden, interesting history and the glaciers close to pyramiden were stunning. for sure i will come back at least 3 times.

I've only recently discovered your channel and your videos give me such peace. I am a retiree in Alaska and have lived here for the past 26 years. I love the winters, the snow, the darkness and cold weather. Summers are sunny for only a few months here and I take advantage of the summer days to hike in the woods with my small Havanese dog. (She always responds to the sound of your dog when we watch your videos together.) Thank you for sharing your northern town with us. Best wishes in all you do.
I’m from Boston and even the smallest bit of cold weather and darkness makes me sad 😔 but your videos are inspiring to try to change the way I think of winter
Its really interesting to see the prices. In Scotland for two people, we usually spend an average of £300-£350 a month which is about 350-400 USD. We try to meal plan and keep prices down cause the food prices are really high here at the moment.
we spend more than that a month in New York City for food. more like 500 to 600...we do purchase mostly organic so that might be more expensive. But Trader Joes' has less expensive organic food and we buy there a lot.
I have lived in Wasilla, Alaska for 6yrs, originally from South Texas, didn't intend to stay here that long. I can tell you from experience, I would rather be to hot than to cold. I have fallen hard on icy roads, that hurts, it can be to cold to snow so you get ice. Then there's the wind, chill factor can drop temperatures fast. I have been in 80mph wind which brought temperatures down to the negative teens. I have been in -50, freezing sleet. OUCH! I've also been in 120 heat index with 100% humidity, I can't wait to get back to Texas. I'm well aware there will an adjustment time to acclimate to the warmer weather, I'm so ready.
Thanks for sharing your part of the world, and warm greetings from rural Finland to the three of you! Christoffer clearing the snow from the deck is such a familiar task to us, too, but we still have maybe a month before it gets so cold that the snow starts to stay. The cooking looks delicious. We're gonna have to try those banana pancakes, too. Your crushed Kardemumma is the exact same that we have over here - it even has the Finnish text first. So strange!
Found your channel yesterday and I’m still binge watching your videos today, there’s just something so fascinating and beautiful but also calming and inspiring about both your life on Svalbard and your videos
Ever since you first showed the banana pancakes, it quickly became one of my favourite breakfast recipes. Would love to try them with the brown cheese sometime though. Looking forward to the Christmas baking!
Your pancakes looked delicious! I had never heard of brown cheese until I started watching you, and I just found some on Amazon that I’m going to order. Hopefully my Cecilia pancakes turn out yummy😬
Thank you for this video. Svalbard is the opposite of where I live in Washington State USA. Here are tall mountains with slopes covered in lush pine forests. Mountain streams with crystal clear water rushing down to meet rivers and lakes. Ideal for lovers of the outdoors. Yet the pure white snow where you live is appealing because it makes everything look so clean. Live long Cecilia, and live well. The brown cheese looked delicious. 😍
Odd how as soon as I saw the snow, my immediate thought was "Oh, its actually pretty warm out" Mainly due to the fact that it was packy, meaning there was still some moisture in the air. Thanks for sharing. Makes me miss the weather when I lived in the Yukon.

Thank you for the glimpse into your life and educating us on life in Svalbard. I love your videos and I love videos like this. Seeing how folks live in other parts of the world is very interesting.
The girl that does your nails does a beautiful job! Your nails look perfect.
Mr. Mellow Christopher, so laid back.
That printer does gorgeous prints. Looking forward to seeing more.
Cute Grimm watching Christopher clean the deck. So cute
I was fed brown cheese by my grandparents, who came from Trondheim/Skatval areas and moved to Australia in the 50's. To this day I cannot even smell that cheese without going 'Bleh'. Thanks for sharing a snippet of your life there.
Who knew that supporting your nail tech could be so heartwarming!? Was that my drying rack of dreams? Be well & love to Grim!
watching Cecelia's videos gives me a feeling of happiness I can't put into words. I love nature and the snow and tranquility so these videos are my kryptonite. I find myself sitting there, smiling at the screen and literally in shock at how gorgeous Svalbard is. Staying hopeful that I might be able to actually visit one day
When you dream of Cecilia and Jonna being your coffee pals! Great work again Cecilia. Love to you all 💗
Hi Cecilia, We have a 4 yr old Bernese Mountain dog and I can appreciate your Grim's friskiness and furriness!
Its always been a dream of mine to visit this place, so much cool and exotic wildlife and I've always been interested in northern climates in general
Love how the color of your house blends in with the surroundings.
And I would love a print from one of your photo's!
i have been there two months ago, and it was so amazing. when i arrived half of the mountains were full of snow and the next day the whole town was full of snow, so i saw longyearbyen without snow and with snow. I definitely recommend the tour to pyramiden, interesting history and the glaciers close to pyramiden were stunning. for sure i will come back at least 3 times.
Hello~ your photos would make STUNNING
Christmas cards. I'm really looking forward to all the cooking videos 👍, that's gonna be
Fun!! Once Again, Thank you so much for another great vlog! Sending hugs and love
To all and a giant pat for Grim ❌⭕💙
"If they die I will just throw them in the ocean and forget about that this ever happened."
I feel that way about all kinds of things.
Always looking forward to your videos Cecilia 😁
Yay! Thank you! 🧡
This channel is so lovely! I’ve been interested in Scandinavian culture for a while, especially in geographical location such as yours! I even have it on my phone to check the weather every now and then and when the sun sets and rises. Thank you for creating this channel.
Thank you for watching! 😍🧡
I have been wanting to learn to make saffron buns!!! Looking forward to that! Christoffer's deadpan humour makes me laugh. I love to see your excitement for the polar night!
What a BEAUTIFUL picture of Grim. Wow!
We are big fans!!! Thank you for bringing us into your world! 🌎🖤 Much love from the Midwest, USA!!
🧡🧡🧡
It’s so cool to see where you get your nails done! She does do a beautiful job!😍 How amazing it is to hear her story of how she came to Svalbard! I love hearing the traditions and rules like the shoes and how everyone does there laundry.
Oh my gosh I love your videos! I could be having a bad day and I put one of your videos on and I find myself laughing and feeling so relaxed, LOVED the plant part!
I used to be an Autumn person but now I fully love winter. The biting wind, the storms, the darkening days. I feel the same way about November that Autumn people feel about September. I am going to love these videos including the cooking over the next few months. I know that I'm lucky and that winter is hard for so many people so I support Medicins San Frontier and Shelter (in the UK) I'm learning Norwegian atm though so I can visit one day.
Looking forward to the Swedish baking/confections!
😍😍
I saw a reel of yours on Facebook and that brought me here. I love it! I am a Wisconsin girl born and raised but moved to Northern California. Love the wholesomeness and coziness of this place! I am also of Norwegian descent so this is so interesting!
When Cecilia and Jonna post video on the same day💙
😍
Goes from inside warm house to outside with snow: "So cosy!"
Love it ;)
Actually very surprised to see a notice written in Thai in Svalbard, had no idea there is a Thai community living up there also. Thanks again for another wonderful video! Something about watching this extremely cold climate is very comforting. Can't wait to hear more about your prints, the test print you showed looks amazing and would look great on the wall :)
You are Thai? I am!
Reading my diary I was in Svalbard 30years ago today ,camping for 18 days near the airport. Went to the midsummer party at the beach. Enjoy your special day. Greeting from Australia. Keeping a diary has been gold to me.
Summer is coming here in NewZealand but I love visiting Svalbard. So excited Christmas is coming!
I lived in Japan for many years and there it is customary to not wear outdoor shoes inside. Many years later and my family and I still adhere to that custom in Canada. Makes so much sense to me. Love your videos and music selection.
Over the past couple days, I've seen your channel (well, specific videos) listed on Facebook via Daily Mail and some other video promoter. That's so amazing for you! Congrats on your success and thank you for continuing to share your life with us.
PS - I love how much you love Grim.
The beauty of nautical twilight 😍😍😍 this place looks magical 🌌
I'm so excited for you to sell prints
Thanks for sharing Cecilia. It is so beautiful up there. I have always found beauty in places like this. The desert and the places where you live (I never heard of that place before, so thank you) have their unique beauty.
Hi to Ekaterina! I worked with an amazing person from Donetsk who had to flee to russia from the war in Ukraine. I'm so happy Ekaterina found herself in a much better place.
OMG! I've just found your channel and I'm already obsessed with it. You are so sweet, funny, authentic! I love your cute family. ❤ Big hug for Grim! 🤗 And you all! ❤
Yeah..i m addicted to yr channel.😂 fr singapore with 37 degree celsius
Just stunning, you can’t say anything else.
Kind regards from Scotland.
💙💙💙
This is so beautiful that I actually teared up a little bit. I've always liked the cold, would love to visit!
So strange!
The landscape is so beautiful. I loved the bonus Grim while Christoffer was removing the snow.
Found your channel yesterday and I’m still binge watching your videos today, there’s just something so fascinating and beautiful but also calming and inspiring about both your life on Svalbard and your videos
I really love and enjoy watching your town the way you see it. The snow falling. The details. The stillness. I love that you notice those things.
I'm from Minnesota and would totally move there. My heritage is Scandinavian and I love the culture. I also love winter, cold does not bother me.
Ever since you first showed the banana pancakes, it quickly became one of my favourite breakfast recipes. Would love to try them with the brown cheese sometime though. Looking forward to the Christmas baking!
What are the ingredients you are using? From the video I am guessing 1 banana, 3 eggs, lots of cottage cheese, protein powder, cinnamon and cardamum?
“Throw them in the ocean and forget this ever happened…” 🤣🤣🤣🤣I’m going to use that phrase for many situations now
It's the perfect solution to many problems 🤣🤣
Inside your home looks so comfy
Your pancakes looked delicious! I had never heard of brown cheese until I started watching you, and I just found some on Amazon that I’m going to order. Hopefully my Cecilia pancakes turn out yummy😬
Yaaay amazing! 🤩🧡
So I’m imagining the local community Facebook page on Saturday and Sunday - who owns these boots? Like lost dogs after a thunderstorm 😂
Hahah exactly like that! 🤣
Odd how as soon as I saw the snow, my immediate thought was "Oh, its actually pretty warm out"
Mainly due to the fact that it was packy, meaning there was still some moisture in the air.
Thanks for sharing. Makes me miss the weather when I lived in the Yukon.
The chaotic energy of your pancake making is EVERYTHING 🤣✨ I actually went back and made my partner watch that bit again with me because it was so funny! Came across your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching ever since 🙌🏼 You have wonderful energy, so much love for the spectacular place that you live and beautifully shot videos. Not to mention, both my 4 year old & 1 year old are obsessed with Grim 💕 We have concluded that we must all visit Svalbard some day. 😘
Mind Blowing experience. Happy Christmas and a Magical New Year from Cobh, Cork, Ireland to You Both and all who are watching.
I love how you make the lil Swedish pancakes. It reminds me of my childhood. I am so looking forward to watching your upcoming food videos. I love my Swedish heritage. After all, my name is Kristen..lol I just miss my mom, my MorMor my Farfar. You really brighten my day, Cecilia!!! Thank you, young lady!!!
Kristen Does your family by any chance own pizza shop?
@@alexbryson2257 hi there, no on the pizza shop.
@@kristenleblond5047 That's so crazy because you totally look like a slice of heaven 😂😂😂
Oh how beautiful the prints are!! Grim is a natural for it! I am not a fan of being cold or freezing temps but you make it look so inviting and cozy. Going to someone in their home to have nails done is so much more personal. I do the same, no measuring😊
I love it so much when you show us the life in Longyearbyen ! I live in the centre of Paris (France), so imagine how different it is ;-)
Though I feel that I would not be able to cope with the polar night, but you seem to enjoy it so much, so who knows ? ;-)
This is exactly how I feel!
Ravie de te voir là Hélène !! 😊
I'm from Southern California and would love to spend a year in Svalbard. For someone from such a sunny place, I am not a fan of sunny days 😅
I love how you see the beauty and good in a place so harsh and remote. I live in a place that is not remote and shouldn’t be harsh, but we can’t see the beauty in it. Thank you for the videos and perspective.
Love your videos Cecilia! Very inspirational. Look forward to when you start selling prints of your work!
Jag hittade dina videos förra veckan och har blivit förälskad i dom! Det är så vackert där ni bor och får mig att sakna norden lite mindre då jag flyttat till nederländerna. keep it going :D
Another stunning video! Very cool to see the sunlight getting less and less every time in your video... it goes soo fast though 😱 such a huge difference between seasons.. those prints look great!
What vibe in the intro, so cosy, sombre and ultimately beautiful. Makes me miss Canada
We just got back from a trip to the Boston area, and I'm sitting on the couch, sipping coffee, letting your videos play, and creating my own UA-cam channel! Thanks for the inspiration and the Epidemic Sound referral!
Thank you for making me feel as if I have been there to Svalbard. I hope to see it on a large screen, maybe one day when I visit mg parents house who have a smart tv back home, I only have my phone in our apartment. I have never experienced winter season, looks so gloomy to me but I hope that it's a different feel in person when I get to visit this place one day. I didn't know Christopher is norwegian. Grim definitely makes me feel good, I love dogs. Nice to see you again and your place ☺ I'll be doing my binge watching of your videos next day off ❤
Longyearbyen is the largest populated area on the territory of Svalbard, located in the high Norwegian Arctic. The settlement is popular as the most easily accessed frontier in the Arctic, and is an ideal base for the greater exploration of Svalbard.
she literally lives there i think she knows
Cecilia Tack för att du filmar , jag har varit på Svalbard så det är kul att se det jag inte fick uppleva.
This upload made my morning! You inspire me to check out photography and pave my own path.
Yaaaay! 😍🧡
I was randomly googling about Svalbard and your video popped up. I'm so glad it did, your videos are great!
Thank you so so much! 😍
I am a fellow nail lover, I have been loving your different nail looks. She does great work, I love the color you picked! My nails are so tiny compared to yours so I just do them myself, but I do love to have them nicely polished. =)
Si rare for me to find someone so similar to me in humour and attitude in general! Subscribed yo. Love to the three of you from London, UK.
Yaay welcome to the fam! 🤩
