It’s been 2.5 years following Ducky3d. From literally crying because I couldn’t follow the tutorials to now calling this a “basic” tutorial. Man it’s been a beautiful journey! Thank you ducky for teaching us blender❤️
Pro tip: when you're following along to this tutorial hitting the "J" key will rewind the video by 10 seconds. This is extremely helpful when trying to work on little details.
thanks for the great tutorial ! as someone said there are some holes between the different plane animation, I followed every steps but didn't managed to make this a seemless loop it can be a great node to simulate some space race
I was able to follow and it came out sick! A little different because of updates but easy enough to follow in 2024. You may need dig through the comments for any problems you have though!
its weird so many people couldnt get a seamless loop at first but ended up all having different solutions 😂 if your loop isnt smooth, check to make sure there is no rotation changes or height changes on your camera during the animation, double check the distance its tranveling to ensure its only traveling one plane/instance length (i hid the seond plane/instance while i positioned the camera, then unhid the plane so i didnt keyframe the ground/sky being hidden, then keyframed the cameras end position). And I was getting a jump at the end until i changed my first keyframe to be on frame 1 instead of frame 0. perfect loop now.
I just have to say, this is amazing, even though you make it seem so simple. I'm very new to Blender, I've been watching several tutorials to try and learn the mechanics of different things, but this is my 2nd model I've made! The first I wasn't confident enough to stray from the tutorial, but this one I made my own tweaks with. You're great at explaining what the different settings will effect what! And I now have a bit more confidence with geometry nodes.
Just finished and completely astonished with the end result after rendering, Thank you so much @Ducky3D !!!! Making a newb feel like he can do anything
Is there a reason you duplicated the grid instead of making the grid longer? Currently it's not actually "seamless" because rips are visible between the grid instances .
Thanks for an amazing tutorial man. I have a bit of a problem with my colouring and maybe you or any of my fellow viewers could help me. Basically, when I set the materials to metalic or to emissor, what I see in my computer has nothing to do with what I can see in the tutorial. My metals don't reflect and my emissors do not shine that way. Is all pretty plane. Only if I switch to cycles y can see the colours as they should. But then, of course it's too slow to continue working properly. Somebody has any idea what could it be? Thank you so much either way!
For some strange reason when I go to preview the animation as soon as we set the camera key frames in place. The top plane will vanish at 90 frames in and at 113 frames the bottom plane with vanish. Although I can still see the icospheres.
Around minute 18:15 he says that noise texture need to be the same and so I did. I didn't notice the W setting its actually the opposite! My bad I guess, but someone else might experience this. Nice tutorial btw thanks!
how you have made those super looking light em ison on your inst material i have followed your video but mine doesnt look that good and on shading tab mine abnimation is super dark
Hello @Ducky 3D I've been following your tutorials could you help me in the 18:25 part where the part you put something on the timeline because mine dosen't work when I set it to 0 the press I turns to yellow but it wont put on the timeline
This is a year later but in case anyone else is wondering. Make sure to hover your mouse over the FAC on the Mix Color Node. It'll have a subtle highlight to let you know you're over it.
Has anyone gotten this to work in Blender 3.4? When I connect the combine XYZ to the Set position, it moves the whole, flat, grid up it doesn't displace the grid at all. Anyone else? EDIT: Doh! messed scaling the vertices up. Adding a Subdivide Mesh also works. (add the subdivide mesh after the triangulate for interesting effects)
Hey dude. This one looks great! Do you know of any interesting ways to incorporate it so the material can to music? This could make a really cool music video.
Well that sucks. Everything was fine until the area light (fun part). It doesn't appear. Apparently the scale of the project is too big for it, but I have no idea how to scale it down. And surely if I follow the tutorial step by step with exact measurements it should work just fine. But no, the area light doesnt work. tried turning the Watts up - nothing,
I have watched the first 10 mins over and over again. someone please help me figure out why his metallic is so shiny and his points are glowing like a light. i feel like im missing something.
Yeah I was trying to figure that out too. I think he has an addon for a better material preview or something because that looks more like a render than a simple preview. What's sad is the rendered view doesn't even look like that so I don't know what to do either 😅
Great tutorial!! However I have a problem. I’m my project it’s not completely seamless as the loop in the wire material does not seem to loop perfectly. I mean it does loop but the texture is not exactly the same in the first object and in the new instance where the animation ends. Does anyone have any clue of what to do to fix it?
is there a way to make the 2nd instance mirror the first plane so I can make it a seamless loop or did I miss a step? The second plane doesn't match perfectly with the first plane's waves.
yoo idk what happened I tried downloading the free pack, couldn't find them and now the options isn't there anymore😓 Will it come back or any suggestions ?
This is an awesome tutorial but I'm having an issue. I've gotten the camera to loop perfectly but when it gets to the 2nd half of the plane everything but the blue dots disappear. I've been trying for an hour to figure out what's causing this and I'm completely stumped
while the whole project looks really cool and anyone CAN stop the video every few seconds, to mimic the steps - what's the point? I have no clue what each node does, as it rarely gets an explanation - nor could I recreate this afterwards, since I have only copied the steps. Do you explain more in you paid course or does it work there the same? Because I really would like to buy your course, but not if it is like this "tutorial".

Hey there :)
All you need to do is to go to the "Render properties" and switch on "Bloom" and "Screen Space Reflections", then it should work
@@gammelbam And ambient occlusion. Basically turn on every box possible 😂

Ok the solution was to download version 3.2 and it shows properly. I was using 3.0 before incase anyone else runs into this issue.
@@paulsebring5326 Ayy thanks for the tip, was having the same problem!
I usually use my noise into a Vector Scale with the Normal and run that into the Offset so any shape will distort in the direction of the normal
In the last part of this tutorial 18:30, when I press "i" the keyframes dont show up on the timeline, does anyone know how to solve this problem?

great tutorial! when i play back the animation though, parts of the grid stop being visible, why is that?
uhm
is it just me or my laptop isn't able to render this properly? i dont notice ny difference when i add the light cuz its lagging so much
I hate how in blender 4.2 it makes the bloom or what will pass as bloom a lot more harder to apply
Has anyone gotten this to work in Blender 3.4? When I connect the combine XYZ to the Set position, it moves the whole, flat, grid up it doesn't displace the grid at all. Anyone else?

Just bake F curves to any of the interesting parameters in the nodes.

how would you make this smooth tho instead of spiky?

Ok, I got it, on my wire texture the mapping vector was not plugged into both noise textures causing them to be different when going to the mix node
you probly dont care 1 year later but where the 2 noise textures go into the mixer insead of starting at factor 0 start at 1 and end at 0
I see you have accepted my challenge
is there a way to make the 2nd instance mirror the first plane so I can make it a seamless loop or did I miss a step? The second plane doesn't match perfectly with the first plane's waves.
nvm, I just had to scale it -1 on the x axis
Bro can you tell how to export this model to be used in other softwares like unreal engine without messing the animation or geometry nodes
yoo idk what happened I tried downloading the free pack, couldn't find them and now the options isn't there anymore😓 Will it come back or any suggestions ?
Good work, thanks 👍
Are we going to ignore where the 2 instances split apart at the end of the loop due to the animation?
Haha amazing tutorial though
in blender 4.1 couldn't recreate the metal texture.
this animation just has one error, there are holes between the duplicated objects when they move. Homework for your viewers is to close them ;)
can you point me to it? I know with shading you just use the texture coordinate on an empty... but here?
@@timbo7694 oh i dont know the solution either, i didnt try to solve it

What is name of this softwere?
Why do all the meshes except for the spheres go invisible at frame 130
I've went back and I have all my setting exactly the same as Ducky but it is without fail always disabling the metal and wire frame from view

Yes there is some cross over on those nodes
