Harry The Rover 620 Does Some Stuff

- Harry Secombe, my Rover 620 has been making some clattering sounds; that gets looked at.
Also, a seatbelt issue.
The car is 31 years old - it's doing very well, considering.

I had 2 rover 620s back in the mid 2000s, both from a salvage yard, both with scuffed bumpers, both Nautilus Red. £150 each. They were totally different animals as Rover used two types of honda engines, the z20z1 and the z20z2.....114bhp and 138bhp i seem to recall. One was torquey and the other needed to be thrashed. One of my neighbours who did some cleaning for me ( i lived on my own back then) loved the first one i had so i gave it to her, the car that is!! It never missed a beat. I then bought a 1992 Rover Vitesse after that, again with a scuffed bumper..... that was a beast! Happy days!
All the best from deepest Africa, Namibia. Maurice.
I use to have Paul an R Reg 620 SLDi in dark blue. Was an extremely comfortable car. Quite quick as well and super economical but it was a Noisy bugger. That L Series engine certainly made itself known when you were a bit heavy with your right foot and it also likes to leave behind a nice cloud of black smoke. I remember its Registration it was R645 ARW. I had a 420 GSDi in British Racing Green with Cream Leather also that was an R-Reg as well R161 JAT. I really liked that one.
Been thinking of looking for another 600 and I’ve seen a lovely 620 Ti come up I’m tempted to go look at.
EBay have a replacement belt for £20 listed at the moment.
Yeah, it's only really the economy I am thinking of. The Honda 2-litre is a really nice engine.
Spray some furniture polish on the belt whilst it’s fully out. It lubricates it
WD40 is what I have tried so far.
Great work Paul, nice drop links! Bugger about the seatbelt though, damn tricky blighters seatbelts. Such a lovely car the 600, I've always admired that beautiful shape. That's the thing with Honda era Rovers, to me they were always a nicer looking car than their Honda equivalent. Good luck sorting the seatbelt!
I like the Accord as well. Never owned one though.
When they're working, a spray of silicone spray works wonders now and again Paul.
Thank you.
I've a feeling that Welsh singer/comedian Sir Harry Secombe would like and approve of Harry Secombe! 😄
Seastbelts - prior to 1983 they were merely recommended and not compulsory! Would you believe none other than Jimmy Saville fronted public information films advising people to 'clunk' (that's the sound of a car door closing) 'click' (that's the sound of the seatbelt fastening) - clunk-click every trip! 😁
I remember it well
Enjoyed the vibe of this vid! Had a lovely "happy doings" feel about it.
Thank you
🙂 Love the way you got in Daisy for access to the big box of seatbelt goodness 🙂
☺️
11:49 I've started using a wired mic in the car recording as I KNOW it's connected and predictable.
I guess you have had the problem
Dambuster time 12:13
@@ProjectNigel Yeah, random battery issues AND the weird background artifacts some mics give as they're always trying to level the sound.
Great video
Thanks!
Great car and fix Paul! I am happy to report that my L series 45 is running extremely well , changed gearbox oil yesterday - manual -, what came out was not good, and i am getting over 60 mpg way more than i expected, so an L sieries 600 would suit you . or even me ..Yes i have got the Rover bug
I am a great believer in a gearbox oil change… did one to my 2001 Fiat Brava 1.2 and replaced the old mucky stuff with nice clean Valvoline….
Nice work!
@@johnmoruzzi7236 good to hear that Paul yes, they often get completely neglectied many a gearbox dies due to lack of maintenance, so I caught mine in time
Great vid as always Paul! We used to have an annoying seatbelt issue on the Disco 2. Whenever you folded the rear seat down the middle belt would retract stopping the seat from coming up again. Had to unbolt it a couple of times to release the tension... and always at the most inconvenient times!
Thank you, Greg. This is the first one that has refused to play once it's had a knock.
Good video Paul cars is looking good 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Thank you, Jimmy ☺️
Got to love a 600 I missed out on one in a local garage couple of years back at £600 would have been a bargin but then I wouldnt have bought my ZS for £105 of evil bay. Under pressure from the long haired general I sold it (due financial reasons) but miss it dearly. I had the last laugh in a way her Zafira diesel pump went and the cost of a new one was more than the car was worth of to the breakers it went. I never liked it ha ha. So carless for a bit wanted another rover but none available at bangernomics so had to get a shed a focus shed. Its a bit like those american house flippers say its a fixer upper. But may be one day I'll strike lucky on another Rover.
Not a bad price
Seat belts are quite common for going wrong i have replaced a few of them. Them antiroll bar link's where knackered 😂😂😂. I bought a microphone found it was rubbish never used it again.😂😂There's a great sound of the V6 audi always thought I'd like one 😊👍
I was advised not to attempt to take it apart by the mechanic next door. Actually, not quite - he said to make sure I film the reaction when the spring escapes.
@@ProjectNigel Yeah normally they fly appart the reaction of the audience would be great not so great for you 😂😂😂
A fix ! Also, I might need a drivers seat belt for the zs if you have one.
I probably have somewhere.
In my last Rover 45 I put seat belt on one day got to my destination and the damn thing would release!! I had to crawl out of it😮
I’m 33 and I am in nowhere near as good a nick as Harry
Oh dear 😳
What happened re buying a big safe Volvo estate for your family car? The 600 has a shocking Euro NCAP rating.
Well, I had an A6, but I had to sell it for something more pressing.
Why cant' you make quality video's like Steve 'Big' Berries big in the nineties.Maybe you should hirre Steves team to polish up your lacklustre efforts.
Very good point
This Video left me reeling...🤪🛞...
