    1. Is Christ the central focus in this relationship?
    2. Do we encourage each other spiritually?
    3. Do the wise people in my life support the relationship?
    4. Does he value God's design for purity? Does he maintain that and honor it in the relationship?
    5. Does he have a vision and passion for his life? Direction not perfect (For Christ as well)
    6. Do I want to spend the rest of my life with this guy?

      Sydney Tolbert Ask God if he is right for you. There was this situation where this guy led me on to thinking he liked me. He was very inconsistent on how he acted towards me so I found out he would flirt and talk to me whenever he felt insecure and then just ignored me. He basically used me to bust his self confidence and he was Christian. You have to be careful of guys who are kind of immature and are not seeking marriage or a relationship with you.

    You need a man to "pull" you along in your faith? Maybe you should be looking for someone who helps you learn how to think critically and independently. Remember, that "perfect Gods word" was put together by men and copied over and over and translated. Is there a chance it might be flawed or that your interpretation of it might not be right?? Isnt that a bit prideful to assume that you're the correct one..?

      MarCuseusFX That’s a bold claim, and one that I’ve heard and responded to quite often. Do you care to elaborate on this supposed hate in the Bible? Not that I don’t already have an idea of what you’re going to say.

    • @MarCuseus
      @MarCuseus 5 років тому +1

      @@MayberryDaze64 slavery? The commandments? The flood? Killing of homosexuals? Cursing at your parents equals death... pretty hateful. Basically it's very hateful and contradicts itself on too many occasions. It's a mess. But then it was written by very flawed people

    • @MayberryDaze64
      @MayberryDaze64 5 років тому

      MarCuseusFX It’s funny, I said to myself that you were going to include the common claim of slavery being condoned in the Bible. And “Slavery” was the first word in your comment lol. It’s like a broken record with you Atheists and me having to say the same things over and over. Just because a work contains things like slavery, rape, etc.. doesn’t mean these things are being condoned or suggested to be done, it’s talking about history and what was going on at the time and how society was. The Bible isn’t hateful; it’s talking about history. If you wrote a book about some people’s lives and detailed an event in which one of the people were brutally raped, are you recommending that people rape others by it? No you’re not, you’re describing a story or an event. But even so if you wanna get into one of these things specifically, and make the claim, let’s talk about slavery. As far as slavery is concerned, slavery in biblical times was very different from the slavery that was practiced in the last few centuries in many parts of the world. The slavery in the Bible wasn't based exclusively on race. People were not enslaved because of nationality or skin color. In Bible times, slavery was based more on economics; it was a matter of social status. People sold themselves as slaves when they could not pay their debts or provide for their families. In NT times, sometimes doctors, lawyers, and even politicians were slaves of someone else. Some people actually chose to be slaves so as to have all their needs provided for by their masters.
      The slavery of the last few centuries was usually based exclusively on skin color. In the U.S., many African Americans were considered slaves because of their nationality; many slave owners truly believed African Americans to be inferior human beings. The Bible condemns race-based slavery in that it teaches that all men are created by God and made in His image (Genesis 1:27). At the same time, the OT did allow for economic-based slavery and regulated it. The key issue is that the slavery the Bible allowed for in no way resembled the racial slavery that plagued our world in the past few centuries.
      In addition, both testaments speak against the practice of “man-stealing,” which is what happened in Africa in the 16th to 19th centuries. Africans were rounded up by slave-hunters, who sold them to slave-traders, who brought them to the New World to work on plantations and farms. This is abhoorrent to God. In fact, the penalty for such a crime in the Mosaic Law was death: “Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death” (Exodus 21:16). Similar, in the NT, slave-traders are listed among those who are “ungodly and sinful” and are in the same category as those who kill their fathers or mothers, murderers, adulterers and perverts, and liars and perjurers (1 Timothy 1:8- 10).
      Another important point is tha the purpose of the Bible is to point the way to salvation, not to reform society. The Bible often approaches issues from the inside out. If a person experiences the love, mercy, and grace of God by receiving His salvation, God will reform his soul, changing the way he thinks and acts. A person who's has experienced God’s gift of salvation and freedom from the slavery of sin, as God reforms his soul, will realize that enslaving another human being is wrong. He'll see with Paul, that a slave can be “a brother in the Lord” (Philemon 1:16). A person who has truly experienced God’s grace will in turn be gracious towards others. That would be the Bible’s prescription for ending slavery.
      Also, please read this article: www.revelation.co/2013/06/09/bible-says-its-okay-to-beat-your-slave-as-long-as-they-dont-die-exodus-2120-21/
      It does a great job of explaining the verses more in detail and how many Atheists such as yourself are taking it out of context to a large degree. I often see claims of Biblical contradiction but hardly ever see actual contradictions presented to me by the people claiming them, as much of them are taken greatly out of context as well. The Bible isn’t hateful, but what is a pretty bad thing to do is claim things about the Bible that aren’t true, not. The Bible was written by man in the word of God.

I really feel like God has a propose in our life, but sometimes I have to deal with thing that I don't know how to react, for exemple, He always ask questions like, How can you believe in God or How is miracles are possible ? or How he can feel the Holy spirit or How he cant speak in tongue. I would add to be sure to FAST & PRAY about it. I have known even Christians that truly thought he was the one, but he wasn’t. Be open to what the Lord reveals as sometimes it is not what we want to hear, but He knows who is a match for us and who is not. I would be careful about asking others. Even marriages that are matches made by God, may not seem to be “the one” in another’s eyes. Satan is always there trying to deceive.

He respects me he and I push each other in the Lord and we really are well matched. But he is of a different ethnicity than mine. And I've gotten positive advice from mini spiritual Giants in our lives saying that it doesn't matter. But my parents and my sister who matter very much to me cannot get past his race. What should I do? My father said he will not willingly give me away to this man. Please help!

      I don't know if I consider that purity. I would consider that falling into the category of commitment! But I totally get what you mean.

      I don't know if that's what they meant, but I often use the word 'purity' to describe more than just 'being a virgin until marriage'... A Christian woman should always be pure. Although being physically pure until marriage is important, to me there's way more to it. It's about being honest, about caring for and helping others, about staying humble and not judging people... and of course also about the more obvious things like dressing modestly, not cheating (that includes emotional cheating/allowing yourself to fall in love with someone else), fighting against any impure thoughts you might have, not consuming anything that could be labeled as pornographic... things like that.

    I love your videos! They’ve been a great blessing. Just one suggestion/request... would you consider writing on the screen the
    numbers/instructions (don’t know how to call it hehe) that you give. Like on this video that you give 5 recommendations, to have those written, so it could be easier for us if we wanted to write them down.
    Hope my comment makes sense. Thank you once again for the effort you both put into these videos. God bless you!

    Your third topic about making sure others approve really hit hard for me. I have a friend who starting dating someone who was not a good person for her spiritually. She wouldn't listen to anyone's advice, when they told her that he wasn't right for her. They've been dating about 2 years and are now engaged. I only hope and pray that he has changed and has become more holy and will help her achieve heaven. It breaks my heart to think that she may be entering a marriage where God is not the central focus. Please pray for her, that she makes the right decision, and that I can be supportive and happy for her in whatever she chooses!

    Hello, I have a question :
    What does it means purity after mariage? Isn't it more about sexuality ? Once you're married the topic about purity before mariage is over so what does it means " If he doesn't value purity now he won't ganna happen after mariage" ?

    • @ΓρηγορίαΔανδουλάκη
      @ΓρηγορίαΔανδουλάκη 6 років тому

      Purity after marriage means honoring your partner and staying loyal. It is not exactly what most of us have in mind, and that's probably because the meaning of purity is misunderstood. Hope I made that clear for you 😀

    Hey Kristen and Bethany! I really hope you guys see this comment. I am wondering- I am dating the guy I want to marry- he checks all the boxes you guys mentioned. We have been dating for 4 years and I have atleast another 3 years of studying left- when do you think it is appropriate to start thinking about marriage- all my friends are getting married- but I really want to finish my studies first- but somehow I also feel like I am worth less because other girls are being proposed to- and my boyfriend hasnt asked me- I know I dont want to get married now- but how do I handle the situation without the lies of the enemy telling me that I am unworthy?

    • @Tintenfischchen
      @Tintenfischchen 7 років тому +1

      I used to be in the same situation. I wanted to finish my studies and get at least a year of working experience before getting married. That's what felt right to both me and my boyfriend (now fiancé), so we stuck to that plan. We attended a lot of weddings from friends and family (even his little sister got married before him!), so we definitely felt the peer pressure too.
      I feel like the only way to battle those 'I'm unworthy if I don't get married right now' thoughts is to actively try to shift your focus away from the peer pressure and the devil's lies in your head. Pray, ask the Lord to help you fight those lies, and study the bible. You can also pick some of your favourite inspirational verses and write them down on your notebook, your folders, your calendar/journal, all the stuff you regularly look at during the day. It works well as a little reminder of what's true.
      It's also important to talk to your partner about your feelings. You need to support each other during that time.
      Waiting for marriage is hard. Not only the purity part. Waiting till the right time for marriage comes is hard too, but it's the right thing to do. Not everybody is meant to marry at 25 or younger, and that's perfectly fine. 😊❤️

    • @Princess4Hvn
      @Princess4Hvn 7 років тому

      My advice would be to first realise that your worth and happiness comes from God. If you're both seeking His guidance in the relationship, trust in God's timing. I know this period of waiting is difficult, but use it to draw closer to God and to become even more prepared for marriage. I too am sometimes tempted with the enemy's lies of inadequacy, but it's my choice whether to dwell upon them, or upon the promises of God's Word. People have been asking both of us when we're getting engaged, as we've been together for a year and known each other even longer. I've told myself that, as he lets God lead, God will reveal to him when the time is right. In the mean time I'm really focussing on developing my relationship with God and my character. How do I relate to my parents and others? What attitudes and habits do I have that I know are wrong that I need to surrender to God? What really motivates me? Is Jesus truly my first love?
      Some Bible verses to help: Psalms 27:14, Isaiah 49:15-16, Zephaniah 3:17, Psalms 16:11, Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 6:33, Psalm 37:4
