When it comes to takamine guitars, I feel that a really good set of strings is important. I was given a takamine guitar as a Christmas present several years ago. I had played an ovation guitar before then. At first, I didn't like my takamine guitar. It wasn't until several years later that I had a set of Elixir medium gauge nano web coded fospher bronze strings put on. Man what a difference in the sound. I also had the action brought down a bit, because for some reason, my takamine had a high action from when I got it. It isn't as good as a guitar as my martin d18, but it really has a very good sound. I play classic country and traditional gospel songs. It works very well for that. I don't use a pick when I play, just my wright thumb and index finger. If anyone is looking for a beginning to medium priced guitar, takamine guitars work very well.

While my strings are old and shot on my takamine, I'll have to give those Elixir strings a shot (and I agree the action needs to be lowered). We'll have to see how it goes, thx for your suggestions.

Greetings. I play a Takamine EAN30C and I love it. I had one in the early 1990’s but stupidly sold it. I bought another one in 2012 and glad I did because they discontinued the model shortly thereafter. It is a steel string guitar that looks like a classical guitar. I play mostly finger style with my fat fingers so the wider string spacing is just what I need. I won’t make the mistake of ever selling this one, it will be passed down to my son who has coveted it for a long time. Cheers.

I liked the number 3 the best. I had my instructor, the major acoustic go to guy, another employee and a couple customers try it. This is going against three other brands that were more expensive. The first comment out of all of them was it’s smooth. I bought it.

Takamine's quality has always been superior compared to guitars with similar or even slightly higher price range. I have one of Cort's gold series models and while it sounds divine (being all solid with a torrefied top) the aesthetics are a little sloppy, some rough edges on the finish, messy fretwork, very small uncovered sections where the bridge was attached. I also had to sand down the saddle as the action if too high out pf the box. None of these issues were present on my GD51CE when i bought it. I already gave it some dings but it still looks newer compared to my Cort. Kudos to Takamine!

I have an EF360s-tt It’s a Dreadnaught body. The sound is spectacular, real thunderous bass. I am wondering whether to trade it in as the neck is so big. I had to hunt for a capo big enough. Does anyone else have any thoughts on the neck size. I avoid playing it but maybe I just need to get use to it. Any thoughts?

I'm currently saving up money for a Takamine DG93 CE. I sold my other Takamine guitar to purchase a Yamaha FGX830 CE guitar which is a very nice guitar as well. One of the reasons why I sold my first Takamine was how heavy the case was and the guitar itself was heavier then I wanted. I won't have these problems with the Takamine DG93 CE.
