Thanks for taking the effort to do this great and unbiased review’s.. This Takamine looks lige a great “take everywhere” gig guitar 😊 PS enjoyed your song and skillful playing🫶

A comprehensive demo. An impressive guitar!

Thanks Gary, much appreciated.
Miss your great reviews.. Long time no hear
Thanks Francis.
Takamine's own website for current GD51 production -all models, states Laurel for the fingerboard. Images present the fingerboard shade identical to the one you are holding. Previous years' production is anyone's guess.
Thank you sir for your detailed info on the Takamine GD51CE, I am really thinking about purchasing this guitar.
Good choice!
HI again John - (Alan Sturgess here, I often used to comment when I signed on using my other channel).
Another great demo. Lovely sounding instrument. These days, dreadnoughts are just too big to be comfortable for me. I used to play an Eko Ranger 12 string which had the added quality of being heavy - but it had a great sound. These days I prefer 3/4 sizes or parlours like the Fender PM-2E which is a beauty. (try one if you ever get the chance).
The EQ side of things for the Takamine sounds very natural. Your demo of various settings was especially interesting. I loved the 'mid range max' setting - very rich and yet also clear.
Bell rung on this channel as well. I always enjoy your gentle style of review. Cheers.
Yes I too find myself using smaller and smaller instruments. For my next video I will be showing how to make a nylon string thing out of a 12 string Telecaster kit!
@@JohnCouplandguitar S'truth!!! I've recently seen some uploads by a chap who fits nylon strings to a Strat and plays it acoustically - really surprising.
I've seen but never played as Tele 12.
Ever since 1963 I've had a 12 string until very recently when I donated my Taylor 562ce to my local hospice for them to sell via their eBay shop. However, I can't really do without a 12 so I'll have a JHS Vintage 'Paul Brett' 12 instead.
A nylon Tele 12 . . . are you looking for Legendary status or is this an alternative to you previous upload about solutions for older players with less-than-nimble fingers?
Nice tune man!
Thanks for listening
Thank you John. I enjoy your reviews, and as an occasional songwriter myself, I enjoy it when you play one of your compositions. Well done..
My pleasure Ross!
👌👍🙏
It is a great guitar and thanks for this awesome review. Do you think there is a similiar sounding guitar as a straight upgrade?
The cheeper Taks are made in the same plant as Yamahas so the Yamamha FG830 is quite similar but lacks the pick up. (I once unpacked a new Yamaha only to find it had a Takamine sticker on the scratch plate!)
This guitar would be suitable for Johnny Cash songs too.
Personal preference, detest playing Dreadnoughts. That said, does Takamine make a guitar in any segment that isn't relatively desirable vs alternatives if one's budget extends there? Can't fault the tone or volume of the GD51.
I find a big guitar useful for church as the twit on the desk only remembers to fade me up around verse 2.
Hi Sir I have a question. The chords that you use for testing the guitar, are those just a random chords you use or it's a song from other artist?
Because of copyright laws I never use other artist's work. As I am often asked this question I have made a video explaining what they are. ua-cam.com/video/du-X5wR1h0A/v-deo.html
Я думаю как первая гитара сойдёт так как если брать первую совсем дешёвую то можно разочароваться и совсем забросить.✌️🇧🇾
Great review
Cheers Vladimir
Probably a good guitar, I'm just not a fan of the resonance in it, which makes or brakes an acoustic. The after taste is somehow wrong. But then again I*m an idiot.
