- International Superstar Soccer 64 (officially abbreviated as ISS 64, originally released in Japan as Jikkyou J.League Perfect Striker and then later adapted as Jikkyou World Soccer 3) is a video game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka in the International Superstar Soccer series by Konami. It is essentially a Nintendo 64 version of International Superstar Soccer Pro. Its team lineup follows more closely the Super NES version of International Superstar Soccer Deluxe, only with South Africa replacing Morocco. It is similar to the PlayStation version.

International Superstar Soccer 64 review on the nintendo 64. Recorded using a dazzle and on original real console hardware and game cartridge. - Ігри
The opening music is so good, it makes sense it would come back as a meme
I realize it's pretty off topic but do anybody know a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Bentley Rowen Flixportal xD
@Louie Gianni Thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it !
@Bentley Rowen no problem xD
The menu music is fantastic as well
The graphics and sounds are excellent. I especially liked the announcers British accent as he yelled and screamed "GOAL, GOAL GOAL!!" at each successful goal kick.
god that music brings back so many memories
ISS 98 did it for me although just spent hours watching all the 90s football games and cannot believe how fast time has gone. Seems like yesterday was playing these games with my younger brother. Much love to all you 90s footy game fans
Omg the nostalgia - I almost cried watching this review. Thank you man, I wish I could go back into the past...
Know the feeling oh too well my friend
This game is my childhood! The music & sounds etched into my mind and heart. This was my 1st N64 game truly mind blowing
Absolutely loved this game. This was my first soccer game I ever owned.
What a great starting point 👍
Loud Voice: "ENGLAND!!!" .......
Quiet Voice: "Have a throw-in"
IT'S A RED CARD!!!
we have a player substitution...
The shot sails to the ... LEFT!
This game was the best fun when you were playing with a friend and I used to laugh hysterically when you won the match while your friend was shooting and the ball was on it's way into the goal and the time would run out while the ball was still flying in the air.
I was amazed how good this game was playing it back in 1997, superb game and trounced Fifa
Smashed fifa out the park for sure!
USA : Internacional superstar soccer
Brasil : HAHAHA! RONALDIIINHO SOCCEEEERR!!!
Iss still is my favorite football game.. this and especiay the 98 version... wow.. I had so many tornaments! Simple menu, fun and deep gameplay...
For me this is still the best football game to date, even with pes 2015 and Fifa 2015 in the midst to choose from.
Controls were natural, smooth, intuitive and made you able to make simple feints just by changing direction on the analog stick. Which in my opinion the new PES and Fifa series lack, where you often end up running out of the pitch just due to the lack of control of the player.
ISS 64 and ISS 98 for the N64 only had few improvements needed to make them perfect(like angles you always scored from, screw balls impossible for the goalie save)sadly ISS for gamecube got an overhaul to the controls which made them like in the now pes and Fifa games.
If tomorrow Konami anounced that they would release ISS for my PS3 with the bugs fixed for 50€ i would buy it crappy graphics/names and all.
Sebastian Guerrero its a tough one because i think 2000 was the best iss, 98 was cool too
***** ou're probably right. I have yet to try ISS 2000, never knew it existed...darn it!
Could be nice if the 2 for me biggest flaws in ISS 64 & 98 were fixed in the 2000 vers.
Then it will be the best football game ever, which means I have to purchase a N64 + controllers + ISS 2000.
btw super channel m8, nice with review of old games.
best soccer n64 game ever..........ive spent yeaaaaaaaaars playin it!!!!!!!!1 thanks glenn!!!
Football game
I'm not a fan of soccer games, but this is one of my all time favourite games. Even non soccer gamers would've had to at least play this game, a lot of times.
I love playing this game once in a while because it reminds me of old great football times and players, like Zidanne, Ronaldo, Figo, Batistuta, and many others.
what a time and era that was hey
At the time there was something so special about this game. The amazing special moves, the wonderful headers from corners, the scenario mode. I’ve played it again since, and it’s not as good as I remember, but I bought a 64 just to play this game, and boy did I play it.
Been playing this recently, still a blast!
yea this is one of my favorite games. it gets so intense and even fast paced.
I remember getting high and playing this at a friends place. On a smaller screen, I thought it was real life.
Fr
Love this game. Still play it now and again.
What a great video!!
All those big memories in my body - watching this.. I loved that game -
I loved this game so much! It brings back good memories to see it again after so long.
countless hours spent with friends on this one too!
God this game man, me and my brother would play this game all the time when it came out up until 1999. It was such fun, like he would trounce me at it but it just brings back memories y'know?
Still the best football game around! This was jaw dropping and game changing in 1997!
"Give them a right bollocking" now that's a proper English phrase! love it :)
anyone outside of england would be like WTF!? lol
This is childhood in a single video right here!! Thanks for sharing this Glenn!! :-)
haha yeah feels that way for me too, swapping shooting sweet spots of mates in school then going home and trying them!
My favorite sootie games as a kid were always ISS64 and Fifa 98 RTWC. I cannot choose between them.
Love the shot of Koppers scoring. He was one of the best players on the game!
Kluivert
Absolute dream of a game. Couldn't get home fast enough from school to stick on the ISS.
Excellent intro on the scoreboard Glen
Even only that intro of the game before a local tournament with friends and family was a blast start.
My 2nd N64 game (the first one was Super Mario 64). Played it religiously and even completed all the scenarios on the highest difficulty setting. Good times.
What a great game hey
@@n64glennplant the scenario with coming back as Scotland from 0:2 with England was so hard lol
cracking review Glenn, I was ISS all day long!
yeah walls all over fifa, shame the series is now quite poor compared to fifa
As a kid, I was always taken aback at just how FUN this game is. I dont even like or follow football and always found myself enjoying the hell out of this. Konami knew exactly what they were doing.
Aw that music. Many fun nights with cousins playing this game and someone getting a last minute winner.
My favourite football game in the late 90's... Played it 24/7 great memories
This was the game that to me set in place the standard pick up and play console footy game. My self and my brothers used to have whole day tournaments with all the other guys in his flat with this game. So many fond memories and I forgot all about it, begs the question why haven't I bought nowadays? lol
you should get it fella its like £2-3 loose in most places, or you could just splash out and get ISS2000 with the RPG career mode in it too! hah
I never heard about this game but it does look like a lot of fun great review gleen
yeah pick it up its only cheap as its a sports game!
The nostalgia is strong!
I've seen a few reviews of you and I really like them, so I subscribed. I'm only wondering, how have you not done a Zelda game yet? Although I prefer Majora's Mask, I thought Ocarina of Time was one of the most popular games of the system.
So many memories, played for hours and hours
my favorite football game for so long. Was a huge evo fan since fifa 12.
see from xbox 360 onwards i think pro evo took a dive but back then, man isa was untouchable!
This was faaaaaar superior to the FIFA games of that time. It still feels genuinely good to play today and the animation is still beautiful. Great vid. Love that you've captured from a real N64.
Absolutely loved this game as a kid, ahh the nostalgia. Not only was it awesome, it also taught me how to spell scenario 😁 I'm tempted to pick up an N64 again.
did you prefer this or 98 or 2000?
I have one of the japanese versions, called Jikkyou J.League Perfect Striker and released in 1996. Although both games are nearly the same, the J.League version offered interesting things such all stadiums from the league, well designed uniforms and real players. Even i don't know japanese, the commentary is more fluid and entertaining.
I only recommended that version if you're J.League fan, but the gameplay is great like ISS 64, and very cheap in Ebay.
Family tournaments, or as we came to call it in our house..... THE JAFFA CAKE CUP!!!!!
So many great memories of this superb game.... this was the golden period of the N64.... it was literally better than owning an arcade machine at this point!
i hope the prize was some real Jaffa cakes! but are they really cakes...or biscuits? who knows!
Thanks Glen' nostalgia's great.
FIFA 99 was the first game i ever played on the 64, actually it was rented and wrapped as a gift since this was Christmas 98. Awesome music in it too!! Still imo thats the best soccer game I've ever played.
yeah the fifa games always have awesome music!
What a brilliant game. We used to play the shit out of it.
It was 🔥 back in the day wasn’t it
Great times playing this ISS then Pro evolution 👌
this game its amazing i played a lot back in the day, its a shame now the pro evolution soccer series its not good enough. great review as always
yeah konami dropped the ball, fifa owns soccer games now all the way
Oh man what a blast from, the past. I remember buying this on release day... for £65! Worth every penny though as I played it relentlessly. ISS Deluxe on SNES was a classic and the anticipation for this was off the charts.
yeah deluxe on the snes was what sold me and my bro on the ISS series, e paid £50 for that back in the day its crazy how people complain about game prices these days!
Yea I remember it being £65 but had to have it. 2v2 was epic
I went to GAME specifically to buy FIFA, but the guy working there convinced me that ISS was better, so I got it. I loved it, played it endlessly, for years! Years later I tried FIFA 64 and it was dreadful. That guy did me a real solid that day!
Bloody hell a worker at game actually knowing something about games for a change haha
Man I wasted hours on this game playing with my brother and friends. It became a tradition to play it every weekend and later go out and play the real deal. Loved it.
haha yeah for me it was play this...and then go out drinking !
Nice review. The ISS games are the only footie games I've ever cared about. Had the '98 and 2000 versions as well. The simplicity and pace combined with depth and strategy made them a dream to play. The simulation based football games nowadays just put me to sleep.
One cool thing about the ISS games was that, despite the lack of the official license, the real players were actually included. All you had to do was rename them with the edit feature.
Was brilliant. I played with the altered camera though.
See I always preferred the standard one
@@n64glennplant Yeah I liked being further back to see the play lol
can someone remember me what was a N64 soccer game, there was a possibility to hit a photoreporter behind the adbord behind a goal? if you hit him he falls down
what was that game?
I got a copy of the game at a retro game store,it's a fun game...the best soccer game on N64.
Fifa was always my thing, but ISS was still a good time. Really appreciating the frequent uploads though brother.
I'm trying to stick to 2 a week, might be more this week i think, possibly another review on friday and a japanese eye episode at the weekend is the aim
Sweet! I'm always down for a new video from you
I ventured up to London today to do a bit of retro game shopping and was given a really nice boxed and complete copy of this game for free as I had spent 70 odd quid on a load of other games. Big up Playnation games Croydon.
ian martin they are good guys and from what I've seen always hook up guys from the gaming community when they drop in
My favorite sports game on the N64, I wish I could find it again in the wild, but I also enjoyed FIFA Road to World Cup 98.
its easy to find in europe but in the rest of the world it may be hard. ISS2000 is one of the rarest NA titles on the system!
Loved playing this game as an 11 year old
ISS '98 ftw!!!! This game is badass on the N64 and the PS1. I still play the PS1 version. One of my favorite soccer video games of all time.
i prefer 2000 to 98 but 98 has the best cover art of the series :D
I was on a videogame store and had 3 screens with the main 3 rivals-Psx,Saturn and N64 each one with their football game ISS Pro,Sega Worldwide Soccer 97 and ISS 64.
And I decided to buy the Saturn.
I had a Saturn too but never found the sports games that good on it apart from that winter and summer olympic ones (I forget the name now)
@@n64glennplant Yeah you mean Athlete Kings and Winter Heat
Vasileios bang on 👍😬
I was about 8 or 9 when I had the choice of this or duke nukem 64. I chose this and played the shit outta it. Watching your duke nukem review confirms I made the right choice..... I think. Excellent game. 2 player penalties was an intense affair back in the day.
There were soooooo many soccer and baseball games in Japan.
I had this game when I was littler. I remember it being extremely difficult!
yeah its like many footie games of the time....once you find the sweet spots for shooting you become unstoppable!
This game really made me proud to be an N64 owner back in the day. Ohya, ISS.
good man! an easy game to show off your console with!
My first N64 footie game was Michael Owen's WLS 2000 and later I bought FIFA98. Back then I was a fifa fun. Though I played ISS on friends' psx. Never played ISS on n64
ah man you're in for a treat then, pick it up as its usually cheap being a sports game and most people get fifa on the brand name !
I will think about it.(well cheap doesn't even describe it.From a quick search most prices in eBay are around 2 Euros)
ha whoa yeah thats dirt cheap!
Amazing Game! lot of memories!!
Not a sports gamer here, but dayum that music sounds awesome.
ha i always loved it too!
it's strange it's been such a long time, but the graphics are still pretty nice on the eyes...
yeah theres something kinda rad about them! very arcade like
I was a ISS kid. This game blow my mind.
I like that you are playing as Denmark ^_^
As an American gamer which game would you recommend for me Glenn? Other than Mario Strikers
I want something arcadey and fun and fast paced Similar to NBA jam but also the kind of Arcade easy to learn and play of the Ken Griffey Baseball games. is there a game like this on N64? is it one of the games in this series?
i would love to hear your answer!
my first 3d football game...bought in 1997 with my own n64 and sm64 xD
ISS all the way. and PES until a couple of years ago.
my personal favorite from the n64 - psx era is ISS 98
Do you support a team? That’s presumptive to ask since you’re English, sorry! Been watching your vids and getting a full nostalgic kick. Thanks for all the content
Liverpool 👍
0:34 predicted the WC2018
Diving! Press all four of the yellow buttons to dive! I had friends rage quit over my diving antics 🤣 Did any other football games have that?
You could do “professional fouls” on the first fifa on genesis and then run away from the teferee so he couldn’t give you a card
Only exists a pass and a shot buttons? Don't exists a sprint resource?
This is surely the best football game of its generation. Glenn, I dare you to take on the RPG mode(!!) in ISS2000... :)
i will be when the review comes up. i have 2000 on my shelf, its crazy how rare the NA version of it is!
***** It's pretty scarce here, too, IIRC. Don't recall spotting it at Play Blackpool... ;)
RetroUnlim There aren't enough ISS64 vids on UA-cam. I must do something to address this. :)
Very good game for its time.
Ludurkris i think so too
It's so similar and still so different from ISS98 ...
Never have I played a more fun soccer game in my life.
The Time, when ISS clearly was better than Fifa 🙌🏻 Great game, wonderful memories. Thank you 👍🏻
Glenn where is the South Park Rally and Vigilante 8 2nd offence review?
south park rally will be a while away i think, started to record it but its so damn horrible i couldn't bear playing much more of it. v82 however should be soon enough, just want to spread out the genre of games as i often cover so many racers so like mixing things up :)
Ronaldinho 64 took this from the YT's algorithm
Lol I don’t get why so many people all of a sudden are saying Ronaldinho 64 on this channel have I missed a meme or something? I know there’s the Brazil game but don’t get what’s caused a sudden spike?
@@n64glennplant actually Ronaldinho 64 was a peruvian bootleg of ISS 64 and the meme is in the intro that was so weird
Kaigue Rider yeah but I still don’t get what’s caused the sudden spike in interest as that’s been known for years it was a bootleg
@@n64glennplant Memes. Just memes. Don't ask. Just enjoy
Kaigue Rider 😬
I think being able to say International Superstar Soccer Sixty Four repeatedly is a feat in itself!
joys of editing....can make as many takes as i like hah
What a game this was with the control on the shots and chips I bloody loved this game allough I played it that much I ruined it by learning you could run down the side of the box and shot curling it in the near post everytime us unstoppable.. in case you did the know I've killed it for you too lol lol... I was the grea test at all these games
after 20 years this is still the best soccer game so far.
Prefer it over 98 or 2000?
@@n64glennplant over everything even pes 2019
Your logo is from the old N64 magazine, quality :) Still got loads of copies, plus the Nintendo top trumps
+Luke's Game Page check out my N64 magazine playlist 😬
+N64 Glenn Plant Will do
Among my childhood friends we were all iss kids, it was the first game that i got for the n64 and i remember playing penalty kicks for the first time i played the game and it was so realistic compared to any other football game i played that it was hard for me to keep playing because of the emotion lol. Looking at the gameplay and some of the players names it sure brings back memories from back in the day.
Fifa wasnt even a thing back then it was just plain horrible, the only thing i remember about it is that by pressing c-right i believe you'll get red carded every time lol.
I also remember i used to rent iss98 and it was such an improvement, they introduced things like height and improved fks and corners in terms of direction, i really enjoyed it as well as 2000 but my heart tells me iss64 was the best because all of the good times i spent with my childhood friends playing countless games.
Jackson yeah i think technically 2000 is the best but most people love this one purely for that nostalgia factor
Feels are strong... I remember my brother and I playing this game for countless hours back in the day. only game better...ISS 98
i thought ISS 2000 was the best in the series IMO :)
***** i never played it...might have to look it up on ebay now
it has a very cool rpg mode in it too, very unique even now!
Is that some mod for Ronaldinho soccer?!
😂😂😂😂
Hahahahaha, Ronaldinho Soccer!
He's laughing because he knows what happens to soccer games in the future
Hahahahahaha
Ronaldinho
Soccer!
I bought FIFA World Cup 98, not because it's a good game, but because I played it a lot when I grew up
i have that too, ill review that when the world cup starts soon :)
Love this game
The commentary has always floored me with laughter, with its inconsistent tone of voice... "A great day for ENGLAND!?! ENGLAND are playing from right to left, "CAMEROON are playing from left to right!"
haha yeah the commentator recording recorded 3 variations of saying the country names. because it was finished in japan they found it hard to distinguish between the tone as in japan most language is spoken in the same tone so theres some hilarious uses here!
I own this and glenn knows lol as i got it from glenn hadnt had a chance to play yet as my n64 is packed wating to move but thanks agin glenn i really apriciate it
ha yeah its a great game! hope the move goes well!
well we are in and i have internet finally lol and game room looks so bad till i can afford new shelves
