I have said it before and I will say it again.
I truly hope you both understand what you have to offer South Africa. With your thirst for knowledge, enquiring minds, ability to talk and listen to guests from all walks of life and at the same time have the courage to have the necessary tough conversations. It is a privilege to make time to listen to your podcasts. Even though there are times when guests will infuriate me and other times, your guests will give me hope.
So THANK YOU for all the hard work behind the scenes in order to prepare and present a platform upon which we can all learn something from each other.

Yoh this conversation was soooo interesting, especially the last point Penuel raises on single fathers wanting to parent. Sana, I was raised by a man and he did such a great job! Cooked for us, was at every Dr's visit, netball match and where he couldn't meet us emotionally, he'd take us to therapy, and all that other stuff that are deemed as feminine like doing laundry etc did not take away from his masculinity. We still see him as the head of the house and treat him as such.

I love listening to you both, listening from Zim...you are both true to urself and journey while still respecting the other person s different journey...its beautiful having this as siblings who were raised by same parent.
And as someone married ...listening to Penson opened my eyes on how I have unintentionally not allowed my husband on other areas to bring the masculine side to our kids.I now understand that they both need feminine and masculine side to be able to handle different aspects of life.
Thank you both...looking forward to your next conversation.

From my experience..I used to go to soccer at school and after school
Friday afternoon I found another soccer team that plays at the mosque only after 16:00
I didn't really like the sport but my father made sure I had everything I needed so there was no excuse to not go..I learnt a lot about committing to one thing and persistence and consistency..I apply those principles in my life🤞🏾

    This conversation.❤❤❤
Im thinking about my daughters(under 5). They are sheltered. The most important thing right now is loving on them.
Already, dad comes back from work and says to me, "No playing with boys." to them... obviously expecting me to implement as the primary caregiver, I literally maintain that. I don't expect an explanation or anything like that. I know there will be more "plan" he will want to implement through me, I don't question because I already have an unfair level of influence on them being that I'm the mother. Parenting isn't 50/50.
I chose him because I'd be so proud to have a boy child who turns out just like him. I LIKE HIM. Even with the girls, I trust his plan.
It goes back to the "deputy mom" chat Penson speaks about. It seems to be harder when you're co-parenting to get the mother to "follow your lead."

Thank you so much for this super important conversation gents. If possible, could you please do a round table and invite an Afrikaner, Jewish, Xhosa, Zule etc. persons for a discussion about their life experiences, raising kids and their challenges in the modern South Africa. This an important topic and it would be great to have regular episodes since there's more to learn and we can learn a lot from each other.
My concern raising kids in this modern South Africa is that, as Penson, mentioned we (native Africans) are modeling our fatherhood based of western culture/styles as unfortunately we do not have enough role models to learn from. Ubaba Mbuso Khoza is one good example I think of as our Africa role model.

    Really enjoyed tha podcast..
I think tha ultimate answer is “know thyself” study your history (lineage), biology, purposes & tha differences between you & “them” (white people, females etc) to find what works best for you & your like or kind
Then subsequently structure your life accordingly &/or change how tha society is structured - at large - if it doesn’t favour you but works better for those who dominate & disadvantage you for their exclusive agenda (prosperity)

Wt a hot session, thanx to these to Gents for a mind opening session. 1day we must look more deep to the fact that after all children are human, they have got their own preferences, yes we as parents are meant to guide them bt we must try and not find our selves driving them instead of guiding them, it's goes deeper when you notice that kids parents strugle to install lessons in their kids heads where else friends do it with ease, till this day i can't count 10 children who would rather spend time with parents over friends, and i personally believe it's true that we become what we saround our selves with. I feel like a friend is a strong catalyst with a serious impact on what our kids may become in the future and i wonder if there is anything we can do about that as parents 🤔

Raising a soldier is a full time 24 hour assignment, not part time or visitation time. Otherwise whoever spends more time with or takes interest in the boy child gets to model the childs mind and the type of adult they will turn up to be.

Awuu My Mlotshwa Brothers Madoda🥰 Gravitated towards Penuel ke today. I think this brother is calming down a bit…😜🤣🙈 It’s amazing how after All this discussion about parenting y’all still don’t see/ would not admit on the value of marriage, especially on the parenting side….through out the problems mentioned I was just thinking, “would be solved if parents were together in one household, influencing & convincing each other about these parenting styles even in Pillow talks” would be way simpler & easier to decrease that 90 vs10%… Otherwise this future of education involving home economics, might I add “ needle work “ 😂is reminding me of stories our parents & grandparents would to tell us about their education… It is indeed interesting times & this very education is soo expensive. Penuel is lucky too Bcoz he seems to also have independent baby mamas with these 7 kids. Imagine if all fees had to come from 1 pocket, even the schools one doesn’t like would have to be an option. Enjoyed the discussion. Upwards & onwards PurpleBlood😉😝😁🐀🐀Rhodents.

Having been raised by women with very few competent men I understand Penuel's frustrations. They just don't get it fam, the sad part is that its always as if they only understand it after disaster hit and even if after that you cant say I told you because you have to nurse their emotions. I don't know how to quite articulate it but I get you as someone who has seen many trainwrecks coming way before they hit but it fell on deaf ears. Thank you for using your adversities as a teachable moment because my approach to it is now simple-be that utmost best version of yourself, take 100% responsibilities and accountability of your life including in the raising of children to a point where a woman's role would almost be negligible. Be that guy first and they ll be no negotiating-thats my approach, no one can tell Trump, Lebron, Julius on how to raise their kids.

Well guys, I think that we all grew up during a time where it was always forced down our throats that private education is better than public education. I think that we can all agree that the ultimate epitome of education is tertiary education. If you look at the top 20 best universities in the country it is all public universities. Ngisho wena UCT, RHODES, UP,UJ,UFS,NMU, Stellenboch University etc... in fact, UCT is the best in the continent and amongst the best in the world. UCT is a public institution. So in the space of education I'd argue that government trumps the private sector. In fact, a majority of student who go to private institutions of higher learning only go there because they've been rejected by a public university. So I debunk this notion that private is the best because our universities are a clear demonstration of that. Name one private institution of higher learning in the country that can compete with UCT, UP, UJ, WITS etc... I'll wait..

    • @Penuelism

We'd need to look at relative percentages for context.
The private schools are a fraction of public schools.

That Penson point of loving from far then coming in & wanting to change things then wanting to move again NEEDS to be investigated💯Blacks need to fix this for real anywhere.
To Penuel’s closing point of well Balanced parenting…Afrikaans families/Muslims families are not only using their templates but they do it together & not apart☝🏾… they’d also/ also face exact SAME challenges if they were doing it apart especially a case like Penuel’s where it is also worlds apart… so don’t beat yourselves up too much. Y’all are already doing Great & better than most. Especially by even having these conversations, it means you learning& there’s no manual anyway❤️‍🔥..Another dynamic is that Afrikaans/ Muslim females mostly have NO say in these things in their families, they are not as vocal as black women or exercise their rights, mostly bcoz fathers are sole providers & their word goes/ culture etc… so it is not so dual or 50/50 as one would think. It might be 70/30 or less towards moms who can’t tell a father nothing. Y’all have got this under your different circumstances. Keep moving, learning & improving by the time you look back Y’all will be surprised at your awesomeness & what great Dads you have been.

Penuel's idea on how to raise 'soldiers' is pretty dope! However no sane mother would allow half the stuff. A kid going to play soccer with goons hiking taxis coming from privilege can easily be prey! Though comfort may ruin kids we understate the protection a bit of privilege can do for a child.
School performance though its not a blanket statement, on average a hardship actually ruins alot of potential. The success stories we hear that were made from hardship sounds good to our ears but these people compared to the masses are less.

It would be intriguing to dig into the "mans plan" vs the "woman's plan" pertaining to life structures conversation.... Baring the Will and Jada relationship model in mind. Will had a plan, and it was a full proof plan and Jada hopped onboard but was unhappy for a significant amount of time. Because they assimilated to Will's plan.... The opposite of that is the woman's plan which I believe is what you used the "schooling systems" to describe.... Which is an intriguing interpretation of the woman's plan... Penson went on to describe the woman's ability to hop onto multiple men's plans (in not so many words) by describing how a woman's plan can be reduced to hopping onto any mans plan regardless of her own desires... My question with all of this in mind is, do we as human beings think we've ever gotten to a place where we allow ourselves to converse about these proposed plans before deciding to pro-create? Second to that, do men in South Africa think that a woman's plan is to hop onto a mans plan?

Get a woman or more women by a criteria to sign a co-parenting contract in order to try and experiment your ideal parenting styles, yeah?

Rating a black south African father a 1/2 and a white one 6/7 is a indication of what you've been exposed to. Growing up in a 2 parent home I could never rate black fathers a 1/2. Additionally, I'd never score any of the black fathers I know 1/2. Growing up without a present father is really tragic. It clearly distorts your view.

Hey pen. I hope you are well.
I hear your point on wishing nkunzi and Africa could learn certain things from you such as catching taxis and hustling their uncle's.
You are at a greater stance financially and intellectually. You need to expose your children to greater experiences such as teaching them trades and how to manage employees from tender age,
    Increase their imagination,
Instead of them catching taxis, they should start things which will allow them to drive and catch lamozines.
Their training should be in prep for the life you want them to live, and not the one you lived...
